Oh yes, someone actually decided to make a movie footage from Maximum Surge (Cancelled Sega CD game), Corpse Killer (Sega CD 32X), Prize Fighter, some cancelled FMV football game, and probably more. And the two headliners? They only appear in the spliced footage.
Ultima IX is next. Maybe.

While the Ultima IX review is great (so far), and I love seeing him running through every single minor plothole in the game - there's one thing I feel like he's making too big a deal of.
Yes, it's out of character for the Avatar to be asking about the Codex or Paladins, but those are only optional dialog paths. They are only there for new users who haven't played the past eight games - and need refreshers on the basics of the story. Same with the Tapestry (though there's really no excuse for the inconsistencies there).

Not just the game that killed a series, but the game that put to death one of the most influential and highly regarded RPG series of all time. That said, after 8, it was really just pulling the plug on life support.

Sure, he hasn't done much recently, nor has it always been great, but almost all of his old reviews/vlogs and other stuff is amazing, and when he does something great, it's always amazing; stuff I'd watch multiple times.
His Let's Plays of Phantasmagoria and Ripper are must-watches, and his reviews of the FInal Fantasy and Ultima games are as well. Also, his newer Counter Monkey series is awesome as well, and super interesting to someone who has never played a P&P RPG before.

A good game script would take both in account and tries to find a solution.
The Avatar and NPCs could simple talk around it or the NPC could ask the Avatar about something.
Avatar: "What happened to the Paladins in the mean time?"
NPC: "You know, that there were doing this and this before. But now they doing that and that".
What about simply giving the Avatar Amnesia with a simple background story: The Guarding has build up a protection spell around Britannia, which was designed to only seal the Avatar away from entering the realm. But the Guarding of Time found a lope hole in the spell. He has to strip him from his powers and his memory to change him into a new being. It is a dangerous, but the only way to go around the spell.

I mean, I have only the perspective of the Ultima series from Spoony's view, and it sounds like there were a TON of circumstances that had a negative impact on this game's development... but the gigantic inconsistencies in story elements are mind blowing. I'm not sure what's worse- this or Mass Effect 3. ME3 blew it this badly after three games, but Ultima held out quite a while longer. Geez...

After what went down these last few days over on twitter the only thing I can say is I'm surprised it took this long for it to happen.
Tl;Dr version:
1. Spoony makes a rape joke about a female member in the, uh, "that guy" crew
2. People start telling him that's not cool.
3. He flips shit and starts hurling insults at people (including the person who he made said joke at) for "not being able to take a joke"
4. TGWTG suspends him for 4 weeks so he can get his shit together
5. Starts making a bunch of really depressing tweets about how he's as good as hitler, and needs to be punished, and lower than shit, etc, etc
6. Finally snaps today and starts throwing how insults at anyone and everyone who sends him a tweet, including stuff like calling another female "that guy" staff member "ignorant" and a, um, bad word for a female that's slang for genitalia (starts with a c)
7. Spoony's let go from that guy and co
8. Now he's on twitter saying loads of narcissistic crap like he's a "god" and stuff

Wow, this is pretty depressing to watch. He's completely losing it judging from his tweets. I hope he sorts his shit out and doesn't dig himself even deeper into this self destructive episode he's having. It's embarrassing and really pushing me away from being a fan of him anymore.

I'll always be grateful for his Phantasmagoria and Final Fantasy videos, but outside of those, I never did like his stuff that much. And, as others have mentioned, after his break up with his former girlfriend, his material never got any better, continue to get increasingly worse, and now this. Very sad..

Basically, it was something among the lines of "If [something, dunno what] doesn't work out for you, I can always tie you to a pipe in my basement and make love to you. My way. And my way of love includes a lot of tears."
From what I've read, Spoony was on the bubble for awhile. His productivity (and consequently his profitability) was down, he was going on tirades on twitter, and he was belligerent with his co-workers. He was becoming a liability in spite of his large following. His last few tweet were the straw that broke the camel's back in that he made an inappropriate comment about a co-worker (Jesuotaku) and insulted a twitter member (twistedpuppet) who brought a lot of attention.
There was no way he was staying after he made so many underhanded comments against a co-worker (Lupa) who called him out.
His content has kind of gone downhill lately. Hopefully he figures things out...
Or comes onto Neogaf and starts a shitstorm here as well. That'd be hilarious too. :3
Edit: Wow, I've now read the majority of the inane babbling on twitter. I think it's time for me to stop visiting his site and referring people there. I think at this point, the less traffic he gets, the better.

Curious to see how this would have gone down, just in terms of fan support, if this was Spoony at the top of his game, back when he was doing the Let's Play's and FF reviews. I mean, it still should be interesting now to see how he does, as I'm sure he'll be fine, but it's definitely not going to be easy.
