The Spoony Experiment

I'll admit I laughed at the huge overuse of BETRAYAL in the intro despite finding the original video it's from painfully awkward and unfunny, if only because I'm assuming it was there as a response to the whole Lordkat podcast thing

Guessing a significant portion of this was done post-breakdown?

Weird, also yeah she needs a tripod after this.
I don't know why these reviewers don't think of getting a tripod earlier. How much do they cost? Todd in the Shadows literally said that he didn't even have a tripod until Lindsay Ellis bought him one for his birthday this year. He'd been using a TV tray.

get internet famous first, ask questions later

Speaking of Todd in the Shadows, did he ever said why he hides his face? Is there an actual explanation or is he just really that insecure?

I recall he brought it up in one of his videos. I recall it was not wanting to be bothered on facebook or something I really can't remember.
I'd guess a part is being insecure, but aside from that it does let him stand apart from others. Since no one else can really do the whole "hiding in the shadows" thing now.

Watched the episode yesterday night.
Really enjoyed it, I love seeing just how bad this game was.
Not to mention there's just something about 90's PC gaming that interest's me so much, that honestly you could have a reviewer that does nothin but games from that era and it would probably be a really interesting show.

With that said I hope spoony someday does a review on harvester.
Whether it's a LP or a regular review, it would fit great with benig a part of his FMV Hell schtick and being a PC games from the 90's much like ripper and phantasmagoria.

Really great stuff. No characters, no bullshit, I mean a little of that with the monster-thing from Ultima, but it didn't get in the way. I also loved the Betrayal song, absolutely fucking awesome.

Sorry for the double-post but has anyone seen the thread about Daniel Tosh making a rap joke. Kind of weird after this whole Spoony thing.

Loved part 2, only problem is when he says the Guardian can kill anyone with a thought, I think the context makes it obvious that he can instantly kill anyone who he has contact with (in this case a agent).

Does the game convey that though, or is it assumed?

I've never played Ultima 9, and that was what I assumed the game was actually going for based upon what we saw in the review. Probably the Guardian gives you his powers when you become his servant, but with said power he also controls you.

That's really the only real reason to do it unless he's deformed, which I doubt. Interesting though. Maybe he's afraid of all the musicians he rips into teaming up and coming after him for revenge. In which case, Doug better watch out or Tommy Wisseau is gonna show up at his house one day with a posse.

I need to go find the official TGWTG thread. Anyone know when the heck the new Anniversary video is coming out? (Partially relevant since Spoony is still in it and will probably be the last thing he shows up in from Channel Awesome.)

I need a Dark Knight Rises Spoony review. I'm so curious to hear what he has to say on it. I haven't seen it yet, I'm actually about to go see it in a few hours, and I really want to know how he feels about it, given the mixed reactions so far. (Mixed in that it's not a masterpiece like TDK was considered to be.)

It probably won't be for a while since he's in Ireland right now for Brocon 2012.

Not sure how he'll feel about it. Opinions are definitely all over the place.

I'm not trying to be like a bully or jerk, but why do people at these conventions have to be so fucking...dorky? I made a thread about this on Gaf a while back, but I still don't completely get it. James Rolfe looks like he's confused as fuck.
You're looking at what's left when you set your society filters to 'dork'. First you have people who know and like what these guys do (insert anyone on any panel on any geek convention). Then you have those that would describe themselves as active fans and then at the last stage you have those that go out of their way to attend a panel. You're looking at the most invested, outgoing and/or least self-aware.

It's a fan. It's normal. Also, it's pretty much a panel where nerds are asked by nerds.

It's been a joke, no need to personally insult that guy.

The only movie reviews I trust any more are by Red Letter Media: http://redlettermedia.com/

Yeah, I listened to Mike and Jay's review before I checked out Spoony's, as they seem to be a bit more objective in some ways.
