I actually didn't know about that. Doing this tomorrow. Can't wait.

I wonder if that's a possible explanation for the belief in Doppelgänger and similar creatures. I generally dismiss euhemerisms and naturalist explanations for folklore, but given the deeply psychological nature of Doppelgängers and similar concepts there may be something to it.

I've done this before. It's not a big deal. You just slowly lose focus and your face starts to get distorted. At least for me that's what happens.

It needed to be done.

Real life reactions and situations are totally different, though.

I mean, I run people over with my game car in GTA and I don't feel anything. But a few weeks ago I killed a bird with my real car and I was terrified and felt bad.

Of course, you murdered a live being.

Fucking nuke this thread from orbit.

Too be fair I had some weird sleep issues when I was younger. I had a dream that I was floating near the ceiling of my room and slowly being dragged to the basement. I woke up in the basement.

My mom witnessed me sleepwalking which pretty much explained that.

These things only happend for a brief period of time when I was 13 or 14 and never came back. No other spooky stuff happend during this period which made me not care much about it.

I do get sleep paralysis on occasion.

My cat jumped out of the bathtub a few seconds in and I ended up knocking the candle I was using over and got wax on the bathroom rug.

While my face didn't contort the look on my wife's face when I explained the wax on the floor was definitely distorted.

I looked like a painting of a person made of clay. It looked like a royal person who was sad and angry. Kind of looked like me, like a close relative.

I used two candles for lighting. One in front of me on my bathroom sink and held another behind me. Closed the door, lightswitch off.

Lol, I hate explaining stuff like this when it goes awry.

Eh, just stared at myself for 2 minutes in the dark and the only effect i got was the one where you stare at something too long and things start disappearing. For me my mouth disappeared

There's a reason Devil's Advocate scared the shit out of me like most horror movies couldn't back in the day.

Yes, this is pretty interesting. I wonder what they mechanism at play is? I haven't done it for a while, so thanks for reminding me OP.

Also, can't believe people are too scared to even try this.

I've done that plenty of times when going into the bathroom at 2:00 AM and being too lazy to turn on the lights. Can vouch that tis spooky.

i remember back in my teens i tripped acid and went into the bathroom for a moment. dunno why but i ended up staring at myself in the mirror for god knows how long.

yeah, biggest mistake ever. im thinking this would be something akin to that. BIG NOPE

Couldn't wait for tomorrow. Just tried it. Nothing really happened other than my vision started becoming blurry and unfocused. Nothing spooky. Disappointed.

This is about what I saw. I think I saw my friend Kevin but I also might have seen Jesus (or at least the depiction I've seen at church most commonly). It's hard to tell because we all have beards.

No need. When I was in my early teens I would on occasion see the face of a demon or devil on my body when looking in the bathroom mirror. This happend during the early mornings.

It would be a flash or last for several seconds and disappear.

Not making this up.

Fuck. I would not be able to sleep.

I do this all the time, there's a mirror in front of my bed so sometimes when the lights out at night and I'm on my laptop I look up at the mirror..nothing spooky though just my face.

Maybe I AM the devil?

i ran over an already dead squirrel and felt bad :/

I tried it but nothing happened beyond a little blurring of my features as my focus shifted.

If i look into a standard mirror for long enough, however, i can induce a state of depersonalisation which by its very nature a quite surreal experience.
