The Trials HD Official Thread

It saddens me that I watch other peoples replays and still having major trouble getting over this section of tires (Technique track / Hard)

Finally got it last night. I think I'm going to be satisfied with bronze on Hard/Extreme...if I can even get that far.

It's a shame the game doesn't ship with more levels, especially in the Medium/Hard range (although the "Download Content" link seems to hint at more to come). It's a blast to play, but aside from continually one-upping your friends, the replay value seems to be a little low.

*sigh* This game brings back great memories of Elastomania...I'm going to have to dig that game back out from the bowels of my hard drive.

Custom levels..

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Beat you Inferno II - and the only guy of the 22 on my friends list to do so :)

And good luck to whoever gets that horrible endurance achievement. NOBODY in the world has got it yet going by the Leaderboards. Best is 10 faults. NO faults? Seriously? Good luck.

Fair enough; but while I had fun making one custom level and sharing it with friends, making a truly excellent custom level requires an incredible amount of time, patience, and skill. It's more than just a good line; it's attention to detail in the foreground and background, triggers for events, custom camera angles; the whole nine yards.

Games like LBP can be sustained by custom content because they can draw from the entire community. Even if you have tons of friends who play Trials on your friends list, you're never going to have that same sized pool to draw from, and it won't be able to sustain the game long-term.

Add me :p.

I did it!! THANK YOU - SHOUT OUT TO MY PARENTS, FRIENDS, FAMILY! AND SOME FORCE IN THIS UNIVERSE!:lol

I beat you Inferno 2!

I need a vacation from this game. :lol

Mmarsu I still need your GT so that I can add you -_-

Haha, I added a bunch of you guys yesterday and OCD'd on beating times. So far, easy, medium are all number two spots because 'mathuser' is amazing.

Man, today I lost at Inferno (again) right at the very last trick.
I spent there like 15 minutes, trying to do an impossible wheelie on an insanely small platform.
Just before that, I was thinking "now that I've almost finished the level, I'm starting to think it's pretty nice".
FUCK THAT SHIT.

What's worse is when you actually get over it but aren't sure how you did it... (Just like that cement column in the pic at the top of the page)

I'll admit that I haven't replayed Technique for a better score after beating it just because I'm afraid of discovering that I really don't know how I did it at all. I'd rather think I have it mastered somehow, the information secreted away at the back of my brain. :lol

I got this game at midnight and played it until 4 am. It's so damn addictive.

I also like how MS priced it at $15, while only offering MS point bundles below or above that. So I had to pay $25 to get this. Bravo.

7 minutes left in Inferno and I'm at the final checkpoint where you have to wheelie over the bar... I hope I make it in time, because I'm not having the best of luck with this part.

Wow, he's doing it ALL wrong. What does he expect from just going head on like that. You gotta wheele, then go forward fast and you will go up and land on the higher up part.

I think it's a joke to highlight the repetitive and frustrating nature of this game.

I like hard games too, but this is just ridiculous.

I said that to myself today while attempting to get Gold on King of the Hill... Hell I haven't even gotten Silver yet. It took me over a half hour to figure out how to get over the very first incline with the crates on top (but I can pretty much make it over every time now) only to get stuck in other areas of the track..

One thing I noticed about managing my frustration levels with this game.. When I'm struggling in a specific spot of a track and I then start messing up on earlier areas that didn't normally cause issues...I know its time to take a break lol.

Great in theory but only 1 of my 19 friends with this game is sharing a level and it looks like he spent all of 5 minutes on it (Just like I did on mine! Achievement get!)

I've tried to add you once or twice but I think you're friend's list is always full.

I just fucked this level UP! And it only took me 24min and 211 faults (And one 15 minute break towards the end)

:D 2 extreme down, 2 to go :D

INFERNO 2 BEATEN!

325 times, 23:20.

My god, as soon as I got that I quit out of the game. :lol

Now for the two extreme levels in the middle (have the first one).

Well done mate. That's the way I'm trying to do it as well. I have the first and am going for Inferno II now, get that sucker out of the way. :D

can't get up the second hill in 'goin up'. controller destruction imminent.

The one where your back tire gets caught on the little lip of the pipe in the middle of the incline? Give up now, it gets so, SO much harder than that.

Also I loaded up Trials 2 for the first time in a few months earlier tonight... controls are AWFUL. And you can't even edit your bindings, WTF is up with that? I was failing levels over and over that I'd be able to do faultlessly in 1 or 2 tries if it were in Trials HD. Didn't really realize how much of an improvement HD is over 2 in that regard. Makes me appreciate it that much more :)

Well, I'm nearing the end. Beat every level but Inferno II, and after two attempts, I still have yet to reach the end. The part where you have to go jump to a box, and then off of two ramps, is driving me nuts. I got through it once after nearly 400 tries on my first attempt, and I gave up after over 300 tries on that checkpoint on my second attempt.

I kinda like it. It's tough, but there's some pretty good level design. It gets much more interesting once you have people on your friends list to compete with. Unfortunately, only one person I know has the game, but after he spent some time beating all my records on earlier levels, I went back to best his scores.

Sort of like Geometry Wars, it's a game that benefits a lot from friends list competition.

Third level on hard, a two stage tire cliff I need to get up....HOW DO I DO IT?

My best advice is to bunny hop (With the Phoenix: At a stop, lean forward, then hit the gas, pull back on the analog stick then push forward all in one basically fluid motion) up the first tire to get as much momentum as possible, ideally landing into a wheelie on the 2nd platform to get the majority of the way up the cement column. Don't hold right on the stick too much or else you'll pull your back tire off the ground before you're all the way up. Once you get your back tire up to the top (3rd level from the checkpoint), gingerly give the gas a few taps, or else the bike will fly out from under you and you'll land on your ass.

When I beat Goin Up earlier tonight I had a Youtube video pulled up for tricky parts so I could try and mimic the rider's movements exactly. Seemed to work out pretty well so if you're having THAT much trouble I suggest you do the same. FWIW I've beaten the level 3 or 4 times now and just now when I loaded up to see what level you were talking about it still took me about 30 faults to get past that part. Stick with it, you'll get it eventually.

i agree. it was great at first - but after the same thing happening about 100 tries in a row for each "choke" point its just not fun anymore.

There comes to a point where u think - sure this is challenging, thats fine - but that is just poor level design which makes it WAY too difficult...

So 17 of my friends have Trials HD, yet I can't get any custom levels. They really need to let us download custom levels that friends got from their other friends...

God dammit mother fucking cock sucker son of a bitch.

I got past the fire pit in Inferno 2 after like 20 minutes (This attempt anyway, I've probably lost an hour of my life or more on that 30 feet of video game real estate -_-) and 300 attempts and then ran out of time on the steel girder right after that. Fucking time limit D:

hey Mmarsu your second level is amazing, good job man. And explosions all over the place!

btw have you guys watched the credits yet? if not, it's recommended :lol

Yay, finally beat Inferno!
I still don't know how I got past that final wheelie jump, but hey! :D

There are points where this level gets a bit frustrating, but I learned to master the controls there (overall thanks to going to that double ramps a few hundred times :D. That's become my favorite jump of the game: you have to be so precise, and it's so rewarding).

Really an awesome game, with very solid gameplay.
At first, I missed a bit the lack of stunts, but then I understood the game's core is at mastering tricky jumps, and learned to love it that way.
Would buy again. :D

Haha thanks man, I honestly like my first level better, dont know why

Anyway I'm moving right now so I'll be on tomorrow again. Hopefully completingmy third level soon

Argh, how do you even get over the first hill of boxes in King of the Hill (hard)?
Edit: Got it, working my way through the next difficulty.

muah, got the third Extreme level; a breeze compared to Inferno II.

Time for Goin' Up.

*shudder* I can't get past the first hill!

Man.. getting Gold in King of the Hill is proving to be the most frustrating thing Ive ever attempted. No way in hell ill try for Gold on the Extreme tracks .. I think after getting these last 2 Gold on Hard ill be moving on to Shadow Complex for now.

I can't even get past the first ramp on King of the Hill. =/

whitehawk said:
Somehow I was able to beat it in 20 tries. not sure how.

Because the first ramp in KotH is easily the hardest part of the level and retrying it doesn't cost you any time or faults.

I got the 4th record on Unfair Bombardment, but my replay is bugged so I can't marvel at my own awesome. Can anyone confirm? I either don't make it up one of the slopes, or one of the barrels explodes and kills me. I've seen a few bugged replays when looking for tips on how to do the extreme levels.
