The Trials HD Official Thread

Because the first ramp in KotH is easily the hardest part of the level and retrying it doesn't cost you any time or faults.
I don't really agree with it being the hardest part (that goes to the planks after the little hop jumps). Once you know how to get over it you should be able to do it the first or second time, every time. Much less of a margin for error with the planks.

Yea I finally got the first ramp down to where I can get over in 1 or 2 tries, for some reason I seem to have a lot of trouble with the little bunny hop section followed by the steep planks. my best so far is 19 faults.

EDIT: Got it down to 7 faults today, getting closer to Gold.

Really liking the game but would have preferred more jumping and landing levels and less climbing obstacles.

Gamertag: mr bear bear please add me for more leaderboard populating

I love this game sooo much :D target hunt is the best skill game IMO, i'm ranked 82 right now but that will probably change in like a day.

So yeah overall i think its an awesome game but seriously some of the levels are just ridiculous :lol

I picked Trials up this week, and it's even better than expected. I'm all gold through Medium, and I've cleared all of Hard and the first three Extreme tracks. I have a little local rivalry with Arp3ggi0, and Shokleeto has cleared 3/4 of the Extreme tracks as well. No one else on my friends list seems to have played past Medium. I'll have to browse this thread and look for gamer tags from some of you who are sticking with it. Is there a particular post with names in it, or scattered about?

Mine's Drakken688 if you want to add me to get more times on your leaderboard. I've completed all levels and have golds through all the medium levels. Have to start working on hard golds next. I nabbed golds on Container Rush, Under Ground, and Jolly Jumper last night after taking a break for a couple days. Took a lot longer than it should have, especially for Jolly Jumper. Felt good to get them, though.

This really is one of those games that you can boot up in the happiest and friendliest mood only for things to turn sour and you ending up being a raging tyrant kicking and throwing stuff around the room.

Gears 2 multiplayer also has the same affect on me :lol

yep. I slammed king of the hill and was feeling nice as I moved into extreme. It's a huge jump in difficulty in Extreme. I went from easily getting gold and silver in every lower level to having more than 100 faults.

Frustrating, but I love a challenge. I kept messing up on the extreme track where you have to jump a ramp while rolling backwards. I just couldn't keep enough momentum. The replays make it look easy.

Yah, finally beat all the Extreme levels. Time for the final achievement?

MMaRsu, can I add you to grab your levels?

Anyone else out there with fun levels to try?

Geometry Wars 2 made me become incredibly short with anyone within shouting distance. N+ did too, but not to as high of a degree.

I wasn't able to play this for a few days and tried to pick it up again last night. My skills seriously faded. I was having difficulties that I should not have been having. I finally gave up... hopefully I can my skill level back up this weekend to work on thhe extreme levels. I also went from 220 on the overall leaderboard to 850... :/ And when I checked, ther ere over 160K people on the boards, so the game is selling extremely well.

This happens to me too, but if I manage to beat the level that I'm stuck with, then I get a great feeling of accomplishment.

Today I did not get a gold medal in a medium level for 0.006 seconds. Yeah, that little.
I was really pissed, but kept trying a few dozens of times more, and in the end made it. It felt really great. :D

I can't beat the tutorial stage on hard, helppp

I get to the 1st checkpoint that's not the starting point, where there is a ramp up and then a platform up high. I think the sign is tell me to rotate the bike in midair so one wheel lands on the platform and pulls the other up. The problem is that I can grip with the front wheel and lean forward on the platform but the rear wheel is what accelerates so I can't get up the platform. Are there video playthroughs of all the stages somewhere?

Hmm, I think I've found a way to break the minigame where you have to break as many bones as possible. I still haven't beaten my current high score of 106, but I got pretty close with 97.

If you land on the two planks of wood just past the two pipes coming out near the start, it's possible to get the body stuck in there and contorting in some weird ways. It takes a while to get a good one though, sometimes you may just get a hand stuck or even nothing. There are also similar planks right at the start before the pipes, but I haven't got anything good out of them yet.

If someone else wants to give it a go and try and get some insanely high score, go for it.

EDIT: Or, y'know, I could've just looked at #2 on the leaderboards to figure that out. GJ me.

Well, yes....just look at the leaderboard replays lol :)

goddamn inferno 2. I only had like 20 faults until I hit this spot. As you can see, it went downhill fast.

I can't tell you how much I hate that part.

It's awful, easily the worst part of the level for me. I can get there pretty quick, but then took forever to get past it. I didn't think I ever would. What sucks is you finally make it to the second ramp and jump off, only to not have built up enough speed to land on the little piece of pipe before the next checkpoint. The funny thing is, once I finally got past that part, I made it through the rest of the level on that same try, though I nearly ran out of faults.

I finally beat the whole stage tonight thought, so happy :) Only took me 25 mins and 494 tries, lol. I have to say most of those tries were from that part with the 2 ramps, and the last jump before the end. Took me forever to figure out that I have to hit the brake to get the back wheel to stay in the air, lol.

That was the last level I had to beat, I think I'll give it a rest now while I move onto Shadow Complex.

There aren't leaderboards for the tutorial in each set so I can't watch a replay to see what I'm doing wrong :( I could just skip the tutorial but I feel like I'm supposed to be learning something and that not learning it will cause lots of problems in the hard group of tracks.

trialshd.jpg

That is where I'm stuck on the tutorial for hard. The platform I need to reach is above the glass plate shown in the picture. No matter what I do I can't get my bike up high enough off this ramp to land on it. I can only land with my front wheel on it which does me no good. I don't understand what the sign is telling me. I wish the tutorials had text ;_; It says gas -> lean back -> lean forward. I...don't get it.

Can ANYONE whose gotten past the hard tutorial load up the level and tell me how to pass this part?

Thanks,

That part had given me hell for days, last night i'd finally gotten past it and through several more difficult check points. and then right before the last checkpoint i believe, where you have to launch off a rampless ledge and bounce off an I-beam and then land on another ledge with 10 tries and 2 minutes left my thumb slipped and pressed back.....serenity now, SERENITY NOW!!!!

bebpo - do it quick.

if you lean back then forward quickly it'll give a sort of cheap "jump" effect. You're usually going to do it right at the end of a ramp, like here, to get a little extra height.

I didn't do the tutorial, but it's wanting you to shift your weight back than forward as you get near the top of the ramp. It's like a little pump that will get your bike up there enough to shift the weight forward and get on top. The first jump in Inferno 2 is very similar to that.

Ya I was kinda surprised how limited the tutorials are in Trials HD, In the previous Trials game (Trials 2 on PC) it actually explained in detail on how to make the jump(s) via text pop ups before each tutorial started.

Anyhow the post above mine explains what its wanting you to do. (bkfount).

Like the others are saying, back then forward quickly. You need to get a feel for the bike and your rider's weight. Practice and you'll see that what you thought was impossible earlier is second nature later on. I usually try to better my scores on the skill games before I start playing. That will remind your fingers and thumbs of what they are supposed to be doing. Works for me anyway.

Thanks for the back-forward tip. It got me through that and all of hard except KoTH so far.

I've been stuck on this for 45 mins now and have not made it over the crates. Any tips? I'm using the phoenix 250cc cause I can't unlock the donkey 60cc

Hold left on the stick and give gas then push right. It is basically just using momentum to give you a push forward to reach over the boxes. Of course don't keep holding the left stick for long, because you will flip. Same thing as the back-forward tip.

Or you could try pushing right and back then tipping forward, a mix of more torque to the back wheel then the back-forward tip.

changed to the scorpion 250cc and made it past the crates quick, but jeez the red ramp to red ramp scared the shit out of me. Especially when the "250 faults remaining" thing came up cause I didn't even know there were limits. Eventually got by it and then that very last ramp to the finish line was killing me and I had over 400 faults already. Was intense and scary as hell. Eventually beat it.

Not going to try extreme...ever

I used to think that part was the hardest part in Inferno 2. Then I got to the next checkpoint. :lol

I was stuck on that next section for a long time. Finally managed to pop over that last hump, sailed easily over the four pipes and made it to the end all in one go. I never want to play that level again.

Never?

You might not want to, but you know you will.

That is why the game is called 'Trials'. You ever watched any Trials competitions?

My tag is in my profile. I am sticking with it (although Shadow Complex is stealing my free time these last two days) and have just the last 3 tracks to go and 3 golds left on the Minigames. I have a few Platinums for racing.

Haven't gotten a single gold medal on Hard at the moment... And yet I (stubbornly) refuse to get anything lower than that!

Still having loads of fun with this game though, despite pressing Select / Back instead of the B-button every time I make a mistake until I get it right.

I love this game. I can't believe how addictive it is, hours and hours played :)

My hands hurt yesterday, and I actually got heartburn from the continuous stress/tension of trying...sweaty palms and all.

My first two hours with the game I thought I would never even be able to play medium....then yesterday I started a marathon tournament and realized how much skill there is in this game...you truly build skill and an excellent feel for the bikes after a while.

I still suck compared with many of you, but there is a real sense of accomplishment. I had a level of 80+ faults, then got back through it with one or two....and those skills helped in other levels.

Phenomenal game. $15 is a steal for the playtime and enjoyment i get out of it. I am trying to remember all the games released this year, and this has to be right at the top for me at any price.

I would try the other approach....work your way with the B button until you know what to do for each challenging part, otherwise you can play a minute or two of near perfection only to get back to the part you are trying to learn, over and over.

Oh, I don't mind playing the way I do to be honest. Makes the game seem longer, albeit artificially, although I'll most likely be forced to use the B-button once I start with the Extreme tracks.

just got this and am working my way through the first few levels. Fun so far.

Anyone want to add me so I can have some more times to compete against?
