The true potential of Smash

I know an expert on Smash

lmao :D

Content-wise, it is a terrific game. Still, I would trade most of the modes for a deeper and more dinamic gameplay. Not too excited from what I've seen & played.

That certainly shut up those people who can't stop repeating about how the 3DS version held back the Wii U version

my honest opinon is no. only 2 things were announced that interested me but were immediately destroyed.
1)8 player smash. offline only. I can't even get 3 other people who are decent in games to come play with me, I have no use for this mode now.
2)mewtwo... in spring... bruh, does it take that long to port over melee mewtwo? If they were going to completely overhaul him I'd understand but I highly, HIGHLY doubt thats the case. They're just going to go the quick route and just port over melee mewtwo and buff him. Besides, by that time I'm already going to have a true main so I'm not going to switch over to Mewtwo.

I'll give credit where its due though, that new kirby level, and especially the new DK level are really cool. I hope they're fun to play on though cause I thought the same about the retro Mario/DK level in Brawl and that stage ended up being a pain in the ass to play on.

I don't think you understand how game development works, or how much effort goes into making a character for a fighting game. Even if we could just port melee mewtwo and buff him (sakurai said they can't port stuff from melee as its too old) lets think about what other stuff we'd have to do to get him to work

Make him playable on both wiiu and 3ds versions
Give him a final smash
Give him custom moves
Update his model
Update all his animations
Update all his moves to work in the new engine
Balance all of this and make it work with the existing 51 characters
Record audio for him
Record audio of pit/palutena talking about him
Play test him in every mode to make sure none of the above breaks anything

Its laughable if you think they can just port melee mewtwo and buff him and have it done in a few weeks

Ice Climbers were working on wiiu and were cut cause the 3ds couldn't handle them, that alone means the wiiu version was held back

dont they draw out characters first, then animate it, then they make a 3d model?

Mentioned this in another thread, but...

Name a game that has more "content" at release than Wii U Smash. I can't think of any.

the true potential of smash has a good adventure mode

and real break the targets

and board the platforms

and plays as well as melee

They complete overhauled every single character from the ground up

PM's development group poured hundreds of hours into Mewtwo and Roy (so much as to apparently redoing all of their animations and building them a new model), and that's a mod of a game that's running on basically the same engine and hardware.

I'm sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough. By overhaul I meant completely new moves, as in he will play completely different to what he played in melee. Not like say Mario from Brawl to smash 4 who is overall the same character but with a lot of buffs(well imo)

I'm not the biggest Smash fan, but that raised my interest in purchasing this game to another level. There is a lot of content.

Yep. It honestly looked incredible, not only an unbelievable amount of content but really interesting too. Now a day1 buy for me.

It looks like it's going to be an amazing game, but they'll fulfill the potential of Smash when they focus on making the game faster and more exciting.

I think they've gotten pretty damn close. So much content with more modes then I expected including a online community system and tourney, a vastly improved stage builder and we even basically have confirmation of future dlc support with the mewtwo announcement. The only thing else I would have liked too see is an adventure mode similar to melee but that's about it. And even that's not a big deal considering the new classic mode seems pretty slick.

I didn't really enjoy the core gameplay on the 3DS, so my hype wasn't really affected. Nice amount of content but I'm not really one to grind out single player. The music is definitely going to be awesome, though.
