- Daniel Craig is a terrible Bond. He should be a generic Communist villain instead. Casino Royale sucks.

I want to say this, but the two Bond movies he was had atrocious scripts in them...so I still want to give him another chance for some reason. Casino Royale was just dogshit.

I hate the Big Lebowski. I don't get it. I don't understand why everyone thinks it's funny. The only part I genuinely thought was hilarious was when John Goodman kept on yelling at Steve Buscemi's character when he kept on interrupting them at the bowling alley. I think it's a terrible and boring film.

My last year unpopular opinions

I loved Avatar. I know that's only unpopular on gaf. I've seen it another 2 times this week (Thank You HBO!)

I hate District 9. I started out liking it, but the more I saw it, the more the sheen wore off to now I think it's god awful with the tiniest glimmer of goodness only to be founf in the lead character and his anguish. Otherwise, it's garbage.

Inglorious Basterds - It was good, but not great. I'm familiar with Tarentino's tricks and it's wearing on me. Kill Bill was the perfect mix and until he does something to surpass that, I think I'll knock him down a notch.

The Hurt Locker- The most paint by the numbers edge of your seat movie ever. Not bad, but very, very, very predictible.

All of the Rocky films suck. Really suck.
And I agree with the earlier poster about Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller. Not funny, not talented, not interesting.

Avatar used 3D poorly.

Only really in one tiny scene, but it really threw the entire film off kilter for me. It's when
Main dude is looking at photos and they have the same sort of depth trickery going on in them that the rest of the film does. Surely they should appear as 2D images, no?
I've had trouble taking Cameron seriously on 3D cinema since.

Maybe a hundred years from now, pictures are taken in 3D.

Don't they actually have cameras like that now?

If it was just Short Round, then it might be okay. He's annoying but, yeah, the movie needed some comic relief. But we didn't get JUST Short Round. We got Short Round AND Willie. Sweet Jesus. It was a freakin' hurricane of annoyance.
Short Round was definitely one of the least annoying child characters around. Willie Scott though screaming "Oh myy Gaaawwwd" was annoying though. Although I did like her and Indy's scene in her bedroom after that horrific "dinner" scene.

Oh this is fun:

1) Matrix Revolutions is a decent movie. I dont understand all the hate it gets.

2) Meet the parents is probably the most underrated movie Ive ever seen.

3) I may give it another chance one day but Bladerunner was pure shit.

4) Fuck you, Last Samurai was amazing

5) I thought Godfather 2 was vastly inferior to 1. I found part 2 to be so unfocused and messy.

6) I turned off Schindlers list about 15 minutes in because I was so fucking bored. Same with clockwork orange but I plan on giving that another chance.

7) Taken shouldve created/won an oscar for being the most straightforward movie ever created. Ive never seen a movie where no moment felt fluffy and pointless. Every scene had a impact on the overall narrative. It was damn near perfect.

8) The Prestige is hands down Nolans best film.

9) Mission to Mars is one of the best space movies ever created.

10) Incredible hulk was awesome and I dont get the hate.

11) Just about every comedy these days fall apart in the end when they forget they're a comedy.

12) I dont understand how the Hurt Locker won ANYTHING. It was the same scenario over and over again for 2 hours. How a movie that repetitious and pointless wins best film baffles me to no end.

13) zooey deschanel is a horrble actress and EVERY RELATIONSHIP shes a part of in movies feel forced and completely unnatural.

14) Transformers 2 is the most visually/technologically amazing movie ever created and I doubt it will be topped anytime soon.
I'll have to try and watch Taken and The Prestige. A shame I've had plenty of opportunities to watch both movies (Taken on HBO, Prestige on Universal HD) but I just never got around to watching them. A lot of times I would tune in and both films had already started and I'd rather watch a movie from the very beginning.

I also really like The Incredible Hulk. I thought Ed Norton was pretty good as Banner and I bought Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. I still think Sam Elliot was the superior Gen. Thunderbolt though. Saying that, there's still some aspects of The Hulk (2003) that I liked. But if I had to choose, I'd give the edge to Incredible Hulk over The Hulk. I just enjoyed the newer Hulk movie more.

Yep, Transformers 2 is technically amazing. Some of the best work ILM has ever done imo. But that's where my praise for that movie ends. I'll take T1 over Revenge of the Fallen any day of the week.

some people get it some people don't. It really has to click with you. I didn't care for it the first time I saw it, now it's maybe my favorite movie of all time. It's not for everyone.

I didn't realize that was up for debate.

Pretty good CG and stuff too.
I dunno. It seems to get shit on a lot.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is not a great movie ts merely ok.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. It has some really nice moments and some awesome performances from its leads, but the Dunst/Ruffalo/Wood stuff was all terribly unnecessary except as a narrative device and took time away from the main relationship, which was the dramatic core of the movie and could have definitely used the further development.

Inglorious basterds was the best worst movie 2009. Half of that movie is a testament to QT doing things right (Aldo or any scene with the Hans) The rest is a movie about some chick that could have been just a minor character. QT is half good director and half M. Night. When he is on point the guy can pump out some of the best Dialogue and camera work in movies. Other times he is so pretentious that certain scenes screams, "LOOK AT HOW WITTY AND CLEVER I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The Assassination of Jesse James by ect. ect. was much too long. Pretty, but long.

Inglorious Basterds was also too long.

Sunshine's ending was fine. It didn't live up to the incredibly high standards set by the rest of the film, but that doesn't mean it ruined the movie. Still a masterpiece.

Up was... not memorable. That's all I can say, because I don't remember much of it.

Casino Royale is the best Bond movie, by a good margin.

TDK was too long. Ledger was the only thing keeping me interested.

Inception... eh. Fun movie, but nothing amazing.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) is a steaming turd of an actor, and has single-handedly lowered the quality of every HP film. Everyone else is at the very least passable, but him... jesus. No range. Watching him get "upset" is painful. Also, Emma Watson is too hot to play Hermione, but that's not really her fault.

Children of Men may be the best movie ever made. A masterpiece in the truest sense of the word.

Batman Returns is better than Batman.

Arnold Vosloo is a better Darkman than Liam Neeson.

...that's all I've got. I don't watch too many movies.

Also I agree with Gqueb. Taken is just pure awesome from start to finish, and Prestige is the best movie Nolan's made, better than either Batman movie.

You should. Both of them.

The Prestige is the movie that made me a fan of Nolan. It's such an incredible piece of storytelling, how it can be out of order for most of the movie, and then at the very last scene it all hits you like a brick. Also, Batman vs. Wolverine.

Taken is also a nice movie, even though it's not very memorable.

The story takes place in the future....

I will disagree with Returns being better than Batman.

The LOTR films are some of the greatest films ever made. All 3 of them. Even Two Towers.

That's because two towers is the best movie out of the three.

The Prestige is a fantasy movie along the lines of Harry Potter or LOTR.

The Lord of the Rings movies are three of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Couple more things

-Batman Begins is better than The Dark Knight. It is a better Batman movie. The Dark Knight is a showcase for the Joker. Nothing wrong with that but I enjoyed Batman Begins more. The character of Batman is boring as shit in The Dark Knight. I personally feel Nolan went a little nuts with his use of The Joker in the second movie. Movie should have been named 'The Joker' instead of 'The Dark Knight.'

-If you think Inception is an earth-shattering moment in film, you need to watch more movies.

-Up is the worst Pixar movie. Alternatively, Cars is hilarious and I don't understand why it gets the hate it gets. Larry the Cable Guy (who I hate) does a fantastic job in it.

-There Will Be Blood is the single best film to come out in a decade.

I see.

Some of you guys actually like the Batman character.

That was never why I read the comics honestly.:lol

I agree with both these points, however Harry is a total whiny dick at points in the book and sometimes it's hard to understand why he's mad.

Emma was well cast initially, she had bushy hair and was sort of average/plain. She just got better looking over the course of the movies. I'm sure they were disinclined to keep her plain as she's the primary actress too.

Seriously, Inception is bloated and mediocre fluff.

Agreed again.

People mock Heather Graham and Mark Walberg, but Boogie Nights was a tour de force. The room that the actors are given to improvise with is fantastic. William H Macy has such a brilliant line, it gets me every time:

"My f***ing wife is down there with an a** in her c***"

It's such a relatable slip up due to how frustrated he is.

To expand on Donnie Darko: I had watched Sexy Beast in the same week. There's no comparison, and the former just comes off like a trite emo flick.

You're out of your element!

every movie ever made sucks

it's just a bunch of over paid ego maniacs pretending in front of a camera, what a silly concept

Pixar bore me and I don't understand the level of flagellation over their films.. especially by grown men

Yeah, I don't really get it either. I think they're well done and cute, but they do get an absurd amount of love. I'll watch one if I'm forced to, and I won't hate it, but I'll never really have a desire to see it again.

brianjones said:
yeah i agree but they don't seem generally interesting enough to warrant the levels of debate/discussion that they do.

Well, to a casual viewer, not many movies will.

But to fans of movies, there's a lot to talk about Pixar films.

"This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass"
