The Wiimote is the best controller ever developed

Why end this? I was actually just intrigued as to how most people felt about the wiimote and what their favorite controllers have been. In my opinion, everyone has practically copied the SNES controller with some extra shit up until now. I really just find the wiimote so brilliant and intuitive. It's an asset to gaming. If people want to take this thread the wrong way, that's their problem.
The people who give actual praises/criticisms of the controller will be VASTLY overshadowed by anti-Nintendo trolls battling it out with the NDF. The initial topic will veer off into many different tangents, mostly dealing with topics that have been beat to death many times. I would like to have a rational discussion as much as the next guy, but GAF isn't the place to be looking for one.

This forum is filled with retards who would rather resort to TEH CONSOLE WARZ than rational debate. Trust me, in about 10 hours you will be regretting making this thread.

true story
<3. Got that mouse for REALLY cheap (I wouldn't pay full price for it), and I LOVE it.

Wii remote + Nunchuk is sweet, my only problem is that the nunchuk could be a bit larger. Its a bit small for my monkey hands apparently

Completely agree. If for nothing else, button placement is simply the most comfortable on a controller I've ever used. Then add the motion/rumble/etc. Just no contest.

The main ones are decent enough, but I find + and - too recessed in to the controller, and 1 and 2 are too far away from my fingers / thumbs to be easily accessible in-game.

I agree to an extent. Some games (like fighters), it doesn't really work out. But other games like Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime 3, and RE4; it is made of fucking win.

Killing something in NMH is just so fucking satisfying. ^-^

I've been playing Mario Galaxy a lot and I just had to make a thread about this. The Wiimote with nunchuk is seriously, in my opinion, the best controller ever developed. So simple and precise, so many options, and so just freaking well made. It's brilliant. When used correctly, control in games has never been so perfect. It's sad to see developers choose graphics over gameplay, and it's easy to see why Nintendo is miles ahead of everyone this generation. Unfortunately nobody seems to want to wrap their brains around the wiimote and develop new and intuitive ways to play games, but the thing is just genius. So easy to use, yet so able to incorporate complex gameplay at the same time. I can't praise enough. Before it I thought the SNES controller would never be equaled, but Nintendo has done it again. Bravo. I hope Sony and Microsoft are taking notes.

First off, the Wiimote is not simple and not precise. You're playing one of the few games that has incredibly well done control, but it really barely even uses the Wiimote's special features. Other, more ambitious, games that try to use the Wiimote control completely frequently fail at this, because the Wiimote is the opposite of simple and precise. It is very difficult to make wiimote controls work well. I'm pretty confident in this statement because the large majority of Wii games out there have horrible wiimote controls and because the programmers at my company curse the wiimote every day. You'd think if the controller was that awesome more games wouldn't utterly fail at the basic control scheme level.

The wiimote does open up a few interesting gameplay options, but at the same time it ties a hand behind the back of the developer because they now have to struggle really hard to get something as simple as controls to feel right, whereas before it was as simple as pushing a button.

Try hitting + and - with your thumb joint, not the tip.

Works for me :D

The Wii remote is my favorite controller too, but when you phrase it as if developers must choose between graphics and gameplay, it makes us Wii fans look bad. :(

It's true though isn't it? Developers are spending years and millions of dollars developing the likes of MGS4, FFXIII, etc. because of graphics. What's new that they are bringing to those franchises? They will no doubt be great games (though I've waned on both franchises), but I've grown tired of the same shit year after year. The wiimote has added something different to gaming, and it's great. I haven't enjoyed a game in years as much as I've enjoyed Mario Galaxy.

Sheesh gaf

An entire page of "OMG this won't end well posts." The worst we've gotten is a cute puppy. You're just baiting someone to come in here and make a fuss more so then the op's comments

Anyway I'm a CHILLSTREAM man myself

fighting / driving games.
What kind of die-hard fan plays fighting games without a stick or driving fan without a force feedback wheel?

The thread is still 5 out of 8 Spidermans when it comes to silliness though.
