That didn't look too bad.
Yeah I don't get it either. From the moment casting began people have been losing their mind with the typical "SJW" garbage that you see these days. All while not ever having read the books by the sounds of some of the complaints i have seen and not having seen a single episode of it for themselves.
It's ridiculous.
Yeah it's everywhere. There is a thread in off topic talking about how the new Terminator movie flopped because it's "woke". It couldnt possibly because it's a shit movie from a tired franchise that has like 3 box office bombs in a row now. Nope. It's because its "woke".Agreed. The anti-woke brigade with incessant whining about woke this and SJW that are just about as annoying as the freaks they're bitching about. These people need to get a life.
Fringilla.
Netflix has a (well deserved) reputation for pushing SJW crap. Why shouldn't we assume the same for this show? Especially knowing who the showrunner is?I am already sick of the fact that many people have decided that it will be SJW shit before they actually watch, make an effort to judge for themselves.
It must be a pretty sad life to just look for any evidence that supports your worst fears in everything. Yes, I am well aware of the views of the creator, but if I only limited what I enjoy to people who agree with me, I'd despise anything and everything.
Plus, Yennefer looks kinda hot. When I saw the initial pic, I wasn't so sure.
Really N_I? You really want to go there?Yeah it's everywhere. There is a thread in off topic talking about how the new Terminator movie flopped because it's "woke". It couldnt possibly because it's a shit movie from a tired franchise that has like 3 box office bombs in a row now. Nope. It's because its "woke".
The funniest part is that the same people who incessantly complain about SJW this or SJW that are sometimes the same people who claim to want politics to stop being injected into everything. And yet they themselves do it by bringing it up in the first place.
No. You should watch the fucking thing and judge for yourself. I get the feeling you have already made up your mind, but I hope you will keep an open mind.Netflix has a (well deserved) reputation for pushing SJW crap. Or I can watch it knowing the full context of the studio producing it, and their track record, and the showrunner involved.No. You should watch the fucking thing and judge for yourself. I get the feeling you have already made up your mind, but I hope you will keep an open mind.
How so? I never said I was one of those people. I'm just pointing out that sometimes the same people who say they don't want hear about politics in movies or video games are also sometimes the same people who bring it up in the first place by insinuating that the evil "SJWs" are out to get them and their favorite IPs. The Witcher Netflix series is just latest in a long line of this happening. Except in this case the assumptions are based on misinformation like that "bait and switch" article linked on the previous page. There is no bait and switch. The story has not been changed to tell the story from Ciri's perspective because of "SJWs". In fact as I have already pointed out it hasn't been changed at all if it's true the story focuses on Ciri rather than Geralt. Because Geralt is not the Harry Potter of the Witcher series where everything that happens revolves around him and is told exclusively from his perspective. The story that is told in the books is one that revolves around mainly Ciri with Geralt, Yennifer and the rest of the cast being apart of that story to varying degrees at different points. Like I said in one of the books Geralt disappears from the story for quite awhile actually and instead the book focuses on Yennifer and Ciri. This is hilarious coming from you
I'm hopeful, but the show runner is a SJW piece of crap. And none of these leftists can't leave their politics out of anything.
Or I can watch it knowing the full context of the studio producing it, and their track record, and the showrunner involved.
I'm not one of those "turn off your brain and love everything" people.
Exactly, there is a difference between being straight up preachy and having some leanings.I can handle the politics if it is subtle. Basically, as long as I am not being straight preached at I think it will be fine.
BTW, I don't think having strong female characters, or female leads is SJW, woke stuff. I do think dropping words like Patriarchy, or having a character monologue about privilege is certainly woke SJW bullshit though. I wont tolerate that.
Honestly I am halfway through Daybreak and I cannot figure out if the show is making fun of sjw stuff, or if it is preachy. I am laughing and enjoying it though so I haven't really thought about it much other than cringe at a few lines.
Judging by this thread I’m wondering who the corrupt is.Wasn't it Tolkien who said that evil can't create, it can only corrupt? He must have been talking about the SJW's as that is all they ever seem to do.
Budget realities + those things don't appeal to normies as much. People want medieval drama, sex, and political intrigue.
Netflix has a (well deserved) reputation for pushing SJW crap. Why shouldn't we assume the same for this show? Especially knowing who the showrunner is?
Okay so its exactly like the books in the sense that Yennifer and Ciri will be key characters with their own stories separate from Geralt.Eh there's no good amount of goodwill left for the showrunner and the writers.
But sure, until the season starts.
The update and new context.

There will be prequel stories, means there are new writings to be considered.Okay so its exactly like the books in the sense that Yennifer and Ciri will be key characters with their own stories separate from Geralt.
Sounds good to me.
And that is awesome. I really hope they do Yennifer justice. There will be prequel stories, means there are new writings to be considered.
Sure, as long as the whole spectrum of the story stands. We'll see.And that is awesome. I really hope they do Yennifer justice.
Lmao why dont we wait to see show the show plays out before speculating on the "woke agenda" at play. When the creator doesn't care, the showrunner and Netflix turned The Witcher into The Woke. Full SJW show, Geral will by a side character, Yen and Ciri will be the protagonists. Geralt will be useless in the show. The Witcher Creator Andrzej Sapkowski: "I Do Not Care What is Done With My Character in Film"

It doesn't matter. They've already made up their minds. They are exactly like the radical left. They will find whatever they can to validate it their worst fears. The boy who cried woke, is now the same as the boy who cried racism/sexism/transphobia.Lmao why dont we wait to see show the show plays out before speculating on the "woke agenda" at play.
Go read any interview about it. They often remark how the books were sexist and they went beyond that. Plus the forced "multiculturalism" in the casting.Lmao why dont we wait to see show the show plays out before speculating on the "woke agenda" at play.
Naw. I'll just watch the show and judge for myself.Go read any interview about it. They often remark how the books were sexist and they went beyond that. Plus the forced "multiculturalism" in the casting.
The interviews raised every possible red flag.
I don't believe it would be considered woke. It's the fact many recent properties do one of a few things:Exactly, there is a difference between being straight up preachy and having some leanings.
For example, nobody with a functioning brain considers Alien or Aliens "woke" despite the fact that it has a strong female lead. Unfortunately, if that film were released today, it would be considered "woke" by many.
In a rational world it wouldn't be considered woke, but I guarantee you if they were released today, that is exactly what they would be considered.I don't believe it would be considered woke. It's the fact many recent properties do one of a few things:
- I am strong, look at me, I don't need the other side, I CAN DO THIS ALONE WHY R U YELLINGHell an example here is the Terminator series. Sarah was originally badass, b/c she was fighting for her son and for her life. Stepped out of her original sphere and made it happen. It was an organic happenstance.- Or take an existing property and butcher it to hell.Do we have to revisit Ghostbusters or the latest Bat tv show?We do have the luxury (?) of the internet now and can see how various media properties can be polluted by expressed CurrentCultureYear() clowns. So suspicion may be high, but it's critiqued correctly. Alita wasn't a problem, nor Tomb Raider which is getting a sequel.
No, I like her and she fit the role. I'm talking about Fringilla's stupid race-swap and other things I've read around.Multicultural or not, the girl playing Yennefer looks damn good in her outfit.
No.In a rational world it wouldn't be considered woke, but I guarantee you if they were released today, that is exactly what they would be considered.
It’s not a problem at all. Being oblivious is normally not considered a virtue.Well that's a YOU problem. Im truly sorry that you are in that space.
It sounds like you have already decided you will defend this show no matter how it comes outNaw. I'll just watch the show and judge for myself.
I will be disappointed if Geralt isn't banging everything in sight.
Multicultural or not, the girl playing Yennefer looks damn good in her outfit.
I am oblivious because, I can’t keep up with all the crap that outrages people these days. Ignorance is bliss is often a very real thing and you know what I am ok with not knowing what right wingers define as "woke agenda" or what left wingers define as "racist, etc"It’s not a problem at all. Being oblivious is normally not considered a virtue.
I’d rather be open to possibility that I’ll enjoy it than assume that it will trigger me because it might make decisions that I don’t agree with.It sounds like you have already decided you will defend this show no matter how it comes out
Good luck.Until I’m given a reason to believe otherwise I’ll take a wait and see approach. And yes, I’m familiar with the creators work and I’ve never had an issue with what I’ve seen from her. I know about her personal view, but I also know that most entertainers are liberal.
Twitter is shit. Everyone should leave it behind IMO.The red flags started here:

In all seriousness: I have a Netflix subscription anyway, so might as well watch it. Worst that can happen is I waste an hour on the first episode. Best case scenario it's a kickass series. I personally don't care if the race of some fictional fantasy character has been swapped or not, as long as the show is engaging. And having played all of the Witcher games, I can see how a focus on Geralt as main character for a TV show could be limiting, while he works great as avatar for a video game.
This isn't a red flag to me. This day and age more people need to get off twitter. The red flags started here:

She did say this. But honestly race means nothing so long as the character is believable. This isn't a red flag to me. This day and age more people need to get off twitter.
Agreed. I'm getting kind of sick of people trying to prime me for things that are disappointing, "too woke," have an agenda, or whatever.Lmao why dont we wait to see show the show plays out before speculating on the "woke agenda" at play.
Twitter is shit. Everyone should leave it behind IMO.
What does this mean? Is it gonna negate what she and her "comrade" writers had been saying in Twitter, not to mention her "preaches" in her interviews? This isn't a red flag to me. This day and age more people need to get off twitter.
Only the showrunner had plans for 7 seasons, there's no greenlit from Netflix or anything. They apparently have plans for 7 seasons, never going to get there without a decent product
I don't know dude, I haven't really paid much attention to what her and her "comrades" have said on twitter. I guess I just don't obsess/give a fuck about such things. What does this mean? Is it gonna negate what she and her "comrade" writers had been saying in Twitter, not to mention her "preaches" in her interviews?
Also you folks should try not getting sick just because some reasons had been thrown around.
