I really want this game. I heard they added an FoV slider to the PS4 version... I'm assuming the xbox version launched with a slider too. Can anyone confirm?
It does have an FOV slider. But I don't know exactly what it does and I chose to leave it completely alone. The game looks fine to me. Maybe I'll play around with that setting once I come home from work tonight.
The PS4 version was 900P right? What's this version running at?

Changes the FOV..?
This entire nausea thing with this game was completely made up bullshit IMO.
Somebody started it, it got "popular" and suddenly everybody was like "I think I feel it too!"
Your mind is powerful, plays tricks on you sometimes.
That's weird. I haven't played in months and still remember the rules.Word to those that pick this up: Only start playing once you're ready to binge through it. I started the PS4 version then set it down after a few days and when I went back I couldn't remember half of the rules I had figured out and I've not played it since.

It's not made up. I made me sick on PS4. I'm not sure if an update helped, though, since I haven't played since launch.

Are you asking if the game is good enough to justify spending $40 in it? Because whether it's indie or "AAA" doesn't relate at all to its quality and (perceived) value.
But, yes. It's one of the best games of the year. It will be hard to find a better crafted game than The Witness. As for its length... it really depends on how well you do with the puzzles. I guess it can last you for, at least, 20 hours if you're going for the bare minimum to "beat" the game (or are some kind of savant who picks up every single mechanic on the fly).
Avoid it if you don't like puzzles, though.
Maybe it's a matter of how much you played before stopping. I remember the basic ones but not all of them anymore. Probably depends on each individual as well, just wanted to throw it out there so maybe a few people don't end up in my position. That's weird. I haven't played in months and still remember the rules.

I just sold my PS4 recently so I considered picking this up. Went to buy it and found that the MSRP is $39.99 for the Xbox One version! Instant buy here. Can't wait to finally finish the game.
How is that possible?
How is it possible that Witness is 900p 2x MSAA on PS4 but 1080 4xMSAA on Xbox?
Should that even be possible?
This is The Witness, not No Man's Sky.Happy for Xbox owners that like overpriced, mediocre games!

Does this ever go on sale on Steam?
OK, what is this gif from?
Hmm... $40 is a lot for a indie title. Is it worth it?
BTW how long is the game? Playing without FAQ and please no spoilers?
Around 20h. Yes it's worth the price. Intelligent, beautiful, all around great game.
...
It's possible because The Witness is running at 60fps on the PS4 and 30fps on the Xbox One.
The developers did a great job with the 1.3TF they had to work with, but it's not some sort of miracle.
Wait are you fucking serious? Dammit. I don't mind too much - I remember using paper and pencil to solve the mysteries in Fez.
I've solved 25 or so puzzles so far in The Witness and none of them have required graph paper. If this is a serious recommendation then I guess I'll go and get some...
I absolutely love the game so far. I'll go ahead and rate it 5/5 already. One of the most beautiful games on XB1 and another in a long line of stellar XB1 puzzle games.
My playtime was a lot longer and I don't think I got stuck for a particularly long time on anything. The game is definitely a great value if you like what it offers.
Yeah it really helps to have a notebook nearby for this game. And take pictures with your phone/tablet. In a few years or even months I will have forgotten everything and I'll replay through this gem again.
One of the most memorable experiences I've had in all these years playing video games.
That's great. Interesting trade-off, higher res and better AA solution than the PS4 but 30 fps instead of 60.1080p 4x MSAA according to Jonathan Blow
