Controller...

I only bought my XboxOne a few days ago but I would have never guessed that it's controller would swiftly become what may be my all time favorite modern console controller!
I have NOTHING negative to say about this controller, but i'll break it down anyway:

+ Curved triggers that perfectly contour to your index fingers. Couple this with how there's very little resistance in them, you basically just have to feather the damn things to register an input. It's both gloriously comfortable and responsive.

+ Those fucking resistance-free Analog Sticks... they.are.perfection.
once I installed some GelTabz :)
I know that many here prefer their sticks with resistance due to feeling it affords them added control and bearing (and it probably does) . I for one though have never cared for sticks with resistance. I hated the 360's analogs, the Gamecube's, the DualShock2's, etc. I gain nothing from it and it just fatigues my thumb sooner. I've always preferred the feeling of placing/dragging my thumb around and the stick follows... not pushing/forcing it somewhere, if that makes any sense.
While I've always preferred symmetrical sticks in the past (due to my thumbs sitting more naturally in the position as well as a feeling of more added strength), I've found myself completely at home and at ease with the asymmetrical design here. This once again is almost completely traceable to the lack of analog resistance, I feel.

+ Force-feedback triggers - who would have thought that these things would have added some much, but they do!

+ Those bumpers, I actually prefer them over the 360's... Crazy huh? I guess this is because they are now more or less joined with the triggers themselves, so therefore, your finger has to travel less then it did before to hit them. The opposite of this would actually be the current DualShock4 design of L1/R1, which I feel are too far apart from the triggers and it never feels natural to reach them with you index fingers due to the controller's core ergonomics.

+ The Dpad... congrats MS, you didn't fuck it up for once. I mean, it still can't hold a candle to the DualShock4's, but it works well and I'm grateful.

So yeah, while I do believe the Dualshock4 still beats it in raw feature set (native stereo-out, embedded speaker, touchpad), I continuously find myself still preferring the Xbox One pad anyway.
This thread's intent wasn't to be a plant or anything like that. I just wanted to legitimately celebrate a design that was quite honestly, knocked out of the park, by MS.

$100 milliion in R&D... uuuuh... okaaaaay? Still worth it though! :)

I still don't like the bumpers, but I think it's my preferred controller this gen. Btw you ruined your pictures by adding that thumbstick thing.

they fixed the digital pad but broke the bumpers. If they kept the bumpers and just fixed the dpad it would have been maybe the best controller -- but as it is, have to go with DS4.

After extensive play with both the PS4 and XO controller I can say I prefer the XO's. After long sessions my hands don't seem to cramp up nearly as much as they do with the PS4 controller.

The best thing about it is that you don't have to grip it at all. It just sits perfectly in your hands.

It is perfectly shaped.

LB and RB are worse then the 360's and I also felt the need to put some covers on the sticks, something I have never done before now.

Only two flaws for me so far if you ignore start and select now being menu and guide or whatever.

I love it too, although I'm merely 'okay' with the bumpers. They take a bit of getting used to.

I also find the face buttons a bit clicky, they make more audible noise than the 360, which I'm not an enormous fan of.

I loved the 360 controller and like the XB1 controller a lot as well, but yes I feel the bumpers on the 360 were much better and easier to press/reach.

It's very good but buttons, dpad and bumpers too clicky for me.

A cross between DS4's build and xbox ones ergonomics would be a dream.

I'm the same, my hands used to cramp terribly when using the PS4 controller, with the Xbox One controller my hands are absolutely fine.

The analog sticks on the Xbox One controller are godly.

I don't have an xbone yet, but I have tried out the controller on kiosks. Personally I think it's great. I always preferred the DS3s analogs to the 360s. Only thing I really dislike about the controller is the bumpers, they're terrible and require far too much force.

Yep, I bought one for my PC when the drivers were released and I love it. It's so damn comfortable. My only real complaint is that the d-pad still isn't ideal for what I like using it for (platformers mostly), but everything else about it is great.

the edges of the analogs bothers me a bit. Otherwise, good controller.

More developers should implement impulse triggers. It's fantastic. The feedback you get while playing Forza is great and satisfying.

i despised the bumpers at first and praised the 360 controller and DS4.

Until I got my Xbone, now the bumpers feel as natural as a controller made in China should feel I guess?

Yeah, probably the best controller I've ever used (though I do have a certain nostalgiac fondness for the Duke). Going back to it, the 360 controller feels so... cheap.

Agreed that the bumpers take a little getting used to, but once they work they really, really work.

EDIT: Also, Rumble Triggers are straight-up next-gen.

Playing Sunset Overdrive confirms this :)

Can't fucking wait to play thru Halo 1-4 on this damn thing!

HHNNNNGGGGG!!!!!!

..it also has a very tacky AA battery compartment -- which in this day and age I don't find acceptable. It should have a built in battery, ala DS3 and DS4. Fix that and the bumpers and maybe I could agree with the OP. But there's no way to say there's nothing negative.

The bumpers took some time to get used to them but after I was it's better than 360 pad in every way to me. I hate playing my 360 because I have to switch controllers lol.

No built in batteries. The choice of using AA is great. I can just switch out rechargeable batteries and don't have to worry years later about a built in battery not holding a good charge anymore.

So it's such a wonder you decided to put those horrendous pads on the sticks? I have those BTW and they feel terrible.

I'm not saying it's not a great controller, just find it ironic you created thread to praise them and shoe a picture of a modded/altered one.

Definitely a step up from the 360 controller. I actually like the new bumpers. I play a lot of shooters, so they are pretty important; your fingers can travel from triggers to bumpers pretty quickly and it feels natural.

I don't understand those gel pad things you put on yours though. I hate convex sticks.

As a PlayStation owner, the Xbox One's controller is my 2nd favorite controller (behind DualShock 3). So damn comfortable and the buttons/triggers just rock.

Good controller overall but they totally fucked up the bumpers and triggers. Should of just left it like how it was on the 360.

Wii U Pro is my favourite for 3D games and SNES pad for 2D games.

Yeah, I didn't like the 360's controller at all. The One's controller is outstanding though. Better than the DS4 for sure.

the only thing I wonder is how they possibly made it worse than the 360 controller. :(

It's not bad by any means, but IMO the improvement ps4 did over ps3's controller is really impressive, where the xbone controller just seems to be slightly different yet more uncomfortable

I love it. DS4 is slightly more comfortable for me so I prefer that, but its a great controller.

Xbox One controller, DualShock 4 and the Wii U Pro controller are all incredible imo

Don't like it as much as the Xbox360's controller or the DS4, but it is a good controller. The only problems I really have with it is that I feel the sticks are too small and the bumpers aren't the best

Thank God it doesn't have a built in battery. Changing eneloops is way better.
