The Zelda TP pre-launch NON-SPOILER thread (READ BEFORE YOU POSTTTT)

I'm still getting the Gamecube version. ZTTP Wii is just a conversion. Just a port of a Gamecube game with Wii controls tacked on. ZTTP was designed around the excellent gamecube controller and thats how its meant to be played.

You know who you are. You continue to argue that because the controls were originally designed for the GameCube pad there is no hope for the Wii build. You say that your arms will get tired using the Wii remote. You speak of mirrored worlds and right-handed Link. And you know what? It's all crap.

*sigh*

Can we get rid of the trollzorz please? Draft-ed trolls every Nintendo thread he possibly can, even if it has no relationship to the thread itself, and Nightsex is just as awesome.

Edit: And goddamit oblivion, where is your sexy thread?

so so where's the tp official thread? :D

Oblivion is working really hard on it. He said it would be up by the end of tonight :). And Oblivy, when you see this please put a OOT retrospect in there. Just so some of us can remind ourselves what Twilight Princess is up against ;)

Yet every SINGLE hands-on impression disagrees with you. coincidence, or course. Or conspiracy. Am I rite?

They need to keep that shit out of my Zelda game.

Why? If it was just something like another hidden hole or secret in the overworld for the player to find, I'd be completely cool with that.

1. There's not enough room on my 512MB mem stick for that.
2. Just put it in the next ****ing game. Good ****ing god.

I really doubt we're going to be seeing downloadable content. By all accounts there's an overwhemling amount of content in TP, so what's the point of adding .1% more? Is that really going to be the thing that convinces people to buy this game?

The only thing I could see this doing is getting a lot of Wii owners comfortable with WiiConnect24.

Anyone know when the WW commerical aired? I really don't expect the TP commerical until the 12th, but if they ran the WW commerical two weeks before I expect a repeat. It better be good.

TWW commercials first aired back in the fall of '02. Whenever Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was out. As far as TV commercials go, I dunno.

I put up a pretty decent summary of OoT in there as well, so dun worry. :)

SD cards can be used too, can't they? I wouldn't mind a downloadable texture pack or something (just to shut up all the grass people).

By the way, guys. The thread will be ready within half an hour. :)

The Official thread should pretty much replace this one, right?
It should be stickied along with the spoiler thread. The spoiler thread should also become the place to talk about story details and such once the game is actually released.

Just a quick reminder of the 1st public unveiling of Zelda- when most did not know the game was even in development

http://youtube.com/watch?v=6pB647PE-80

Probably the coolest game-related video Ive ever seen.

I cant believe that was more than 2 years ago, almost 3. Just imagining how much time they had to work on it after that (it looked pretty damn polished in that vid) makes me really anticipate the final product.

What I find interesting is the fact that the very moment captured in that video actually had a pretty major impact on the development of the game. We often view game development as existing in a vacuum.

The truth is, many interviews have made mention of the fact that the reaction to that first trailer signaled a realization by the Aonuma and the developers that this had to be the greatest Zelda game yet. It probably led to the year delay in 2005 and the overall scope of the game.

Still gives me chills, despite being slightly embarrassed by the "Oh my god!!!!!", crying and such.

That video is both scary & awesomely cool at the same time. :lol

rarely seen un-edited footage of Space World 2000 demo

http://youtube.com/watch?v=b1kcZOGCFJ4

often you only see the 10-11 second version, this is over twice as long.

those old models have more polys in them, Link is animated better, and the whole thing runs at a smoother framerate than what we've seen of the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess (Wii ver. *seems* a smoother than Gamecube ver. from the videos)

the Space World 2000 art is ugly with the exception of the swords.

the overall artwork of Twilight Princess is the best in a Zelda game, and just crushes
Wind Waker even though Wind Waker animated wonderfully.

Twilight Princess is the true successor to Ocarina of Time, with characters and envionments that don't seem blocky (one exception being the edge/cliff in the opening)

oh God im just rambling. nothing better to do on a Sunday night, less than two weeks away from a port of the greatest game ever....the port is being released before the original! :lol

is it the 19th yet ?

Guys it's almost ready just need some help with one thing. How do making thumbnails? :/

Lol. How can you forget? IGN, Gamespot, and other sites basically went under a minute or two after that. I saw "OMG Zelda!!!" on Nphiles and kept refreshing the hell out of the IGN link. I had tears in my eyes. I didnt realize how much I had waited for the next true Zelda until that day. I was shocked, in disbelief, but happy. Just crazy.

I hope picking up these cats and running off with them is still part of the game

Before we knew Link would turn into a wolf, there was lots of talk about him being something of an animal whisperer. Dunno how much of that survived.

I think one of the recent hands-on impressions mentioned that wolf link can still talk to animals.

BTW, I hope the final game still has areas like this:

... a fairly open forest with huge trees you can walk under.

I was at the press conference when Nintendo unveiled TP to our surprise. It was a crazy mix of emotions...tons of screaming and I think at least one tear dropped from my eye. ****ing room just went *nuts.* Everytime I watch a new TP trailer it all rushes back...good times.

I was in the front-row right of stage in the awesome beanbag chairs, btw.

from Oblivion's locked thread

Scope and Length:

Twilight Princess is definitely the biggest Zelda game ever from several accounts. Hyrule Field alone is supposed to be at LEAST 5 times bigger than Hyrule Field in OoT(A major upgrade from what Aonuma said last year where it would only be 2-3 times as big).

oh YEAH oh YEAAAAAAAAAAA, I was gonna mention that myself if I didn't already. so TP's Hyrule Field could be twice as big or even more than twice as big as it was said to be in 2005

the-legend-of-zelda-gcn-20041123071034713.jpg

"lets get going, it'll be a longer journey across Hyrule than expected"

Wtf, it's supposed to be 2 weeks before the game launched, which should be today. I don't know why it's locked, especially when Oblivion spent so much work on it and was promised to be able to do it.

civilstrife said:
Um... Why was it locked?

Weren't you told by Ami or some other mod that the official thread should go up two weeks prior to release?

yes but i guess 'cause this ten Zelda threads are opened, WasabiKing thought Zelda discussion had gone over the top.
