I got out of the spoilers thread as soon as someone said there were BIG spoilers floating around.

I still don't understand why anyone would want to spoil a game they're interested in. There's a reason Nintendo has an embargo on media until Friday.

To answer:
How can you spoil ZELDA when you know who all the characters are since the first Zelda on NES?

Link is still called Link - This is just like a new Quest so thats how I can read it.
I can understand why it bugs people but if you are a Zelda fan... finding out you start the game as LINK is not gonna bother... if I start as Link... there must be a BLANK and a BLANK too

I'm really not sure why someone would want to know everything about the game before they play it. The best movies I've ever seen have been when I've gone in with no prior knowledge or expectations, and the same thing goes for games.

Good. Damn kids and their impatience these days. I am perfectly content to not hear another word about Zelda until I pick it up on Sunday morning. I already know what happens until the first dungeon (and part of me wishes I didn't even know that, since it is pretty cool), but I'd compare this to all the "I just got the new EGM" threads we get around here. I'm a subscriber, and of course I'm interested in what they have to say. So, when someone says "Hey, the new EGM is on LexisNexis", and I go check it out, it's kind of a letdown when I finally do receive the magazine and I already know exactly what's going to be in it.

That was my only problem with the spoiler thread. People couldnt understand why I didnt think it was fine to throw photos on the page of areas deeper into the game. In this thread, NOTHING can be shown/discussed. I guess asking for some consideration in the spoiler thread was too much to ask. It should have been spoilers until the 2nd dungeon, and everything else simply not allowed. Thankfully it seems I jumped ship before some major shit came down.

yeah that's how I feel. I don't care about finding out little things like weapons and side quests but when it comes to story twists that could effect gameplay I'd rather find those out while playing.

Shouldn't we have rules in the Official thread about spoilers? Like all spoilers HAVE to be tagged, and they all have to be prefaced with the time in the game that is spoiled? IE:

You'll suddenly get people in here(or the official thread) asking all kinds of questions. Some of them might not mean any harm, like asking for help for example. But some of them might want to discuss important points of the game or review it with full details including MAJOR game stuff.

How will that be handled, especially knowing that most of us have just started the game?

I'm sure the official thread will have its own set of rules. There has to be an allowance for spoiler-type material (story or gameplay, spoiler-tagged of course) in it or there wouldn't be nearly as much to talk about.

I PMed Sp0rk to see what the verdict is. I think this is a real issue that needs to be addressed as big as this game is going to be. Seems like there need to be strict rules and guidelines put in place when it comes to spoiling the plot or important events in the game.

By the way, I think the Official Shadow of the Colossus thread went pretty well about that stuff. Everyone seemed to tread lightly with spoiler material and I don't think anything went wrong. Hopefully Zelda will go as smoothly.

Personally I feel anything Zelda related after it releases should be in spoiler tags (even though not everyone would consider it a spoiler). And I hope someone posting Zelda spoilers without tags is permabanned.

I think people should learn to use common sense. I think this thread should become the official game/impressions/discussion thread for those who are playing it. Story elements, etc should be spoiler tags. OMG WTF !!! comments will comprise 75% of the posts, so those should be fine. For someone that is playing and doesnt want to risk it, just stay out of any Zelda threads.

For what its worth, TSA from thehylia.com who I believe posts here as well is the farthest ahead of any journalist at this point.

Figures I get up to take a piss at 4am in the morning and I see all the green lights flasing on the cable modem box. Anyway, I took a look over some things around th net and our own comments, and it seems like a few people want videos and screens from me. Why nothing? Besides just getting the internet back, it seems everyone has videos up till around the second dungeon. That's where the third embargo goes to...until this Friday. I am not rushing through, either, and I've told everyone the 70 hours of gameplay without sidequests was a bit of an overestimation by NOA. Unless this final sequence takes 20 hours, I'm going to be under that mark, and I was not speedrunning - hell, I did a few sidequests. I didn't use a guide, guys. There isn't one out for me to use. Rest assured you will be getting your media soon enough, it's just been anything worthwhile to show wasn't been allowed! Starting probably tomorrow night, I will respond to questions (in the comments) that I'm allowed to answer. For now, I'm just playing through this because I have to see this ending.
