The Zelda TP pre-launch NON-SPOILER thread (READ BEFORE YOU POSTTTT)

1up has an in-depth with Zelda's TP controls on Wii.

The Verdict

Zelda doesn't play at all like a game that had a new control scheme grafted on well into the game's development. The Wii functionality is both intuitive and incredibly beneficial to the game -- frankly, it's difficult to imagine going back to the clumsy GameCube controller after a few hours of time with the Wii version. We're sure the GC game will be perfectly enjoyable, but on Wii, Twilight Princess becomes the fastest and most fluid Zelda game ever.

Superior version confirmed.

Blinking disc slot light is cool news, but I just want to be able to leave it on all the time.

And AniHawk, I don't know what you think you know, and frankly I don't want to know because then I'll know and my own wheels will start turning, but what from what I gather from people who do know, you, me, and everyone else are all in for huge surprise times.

Once you get it back home and turn it on, all this "does it live up the hype ZOMG?" stuff will melt away.

has anyone said how much you play in links form and how much as a wolf?

like 10-20% wolf 80% link?

or what?

hopefully the answer to that is not a spoiler.

i need to know.

Steve from Gamerz Edge played @ 23 hrs and gave an estimation, you can check Gamerzedge.com since I could be posting a spoiler here if I said it. And I'm not sure if we're allowed to black out text here too. :P

And why, pray tell, were you holding your arms out? You don't even need to use your arms.
Or were you at a kiosk.

Just easier to aim accurately at the screen. Wnen you shoot a gun, you hold your arm out. You don't shoot from the hip.

there's calibration to get it pretty close to being a pointer.

I've got to say, I usually agree with Gabe from Penny-Arcade and really enjoy his work, but I couldn't disagree with him more about the graphics of Twilight Princess.

He says that it doesn't look good even for a Gamecube game.

I saw Twilight Princess being played at a convention here in Montreal this weekend and it looks really great, especially by Gamecube standards. I'm going to guess it was due to component cables or something because wow the game was sharp and detailed. There was some sort of fog effect in the dungeon being played that looked absolutely killer.

I own and enjoy Gears of War, yet I was impressed by Zelda. It has a really nice cohesive look, especially indoors, with full lighting effects.

On an unrelated note, a wolf segment was also playable, which I found strange given that no journalist had even played any wolf parts until that Halloween event. They might have had retail copies running.

can someone point me to a place where I can find NON spoilers pics and art of TP?

Up to 2nd dungeon stuff(impresions I mean)? IGN has those. Earlier screenshots(pre November) can be found over the web.

ok how about art?

is the second dungeon stuff too spoilerish? I dont want to spoil stuff in the first post sorry.

By the way guys, GameVideos now also has what could be construed as spoilers on their front page, especially if you apparently are stewing over every detail in your head like AniHawk. It's vague, but if you're trying to go 100% cold turkey, might want to stay away, and definitely not watch the video (which is actually labeled "BIG SPOILERS").

My virgin eyes... must keep them pure! I've done amazingly well so far with fighting off the temptation to know WTF is going on in the spoiler thread. Just a few more days....

I checked the 2nd dungeon IGN stuff. Well, some of it is. Here are some links to the non-spoilerish up to 2nd dungeon pics based upon what I know up to that point(dont know anything past it):

lol, somebody said that on the back pages in this thread. IGN Boards, GameFAQs, and GameVideos are off limits from what I understand. The only part I check with IGN is the Wii section. No message boards or anything else

Dammit all, I gave in and watched the video. I must have this game NOW!

How far into the game does that video spoil? Is it just stuff up to the second dungeon, or is it bigger than that?

It's very early but honestly it's the best cutscene I've seen in a Zelda game, by far and wide.

Just note that it's amazing and that keeping yourself spoiler-free WILL pay off. No question. I don't mind seeing stuff early in the game though.

The fact that it's so early in the game just makes it even better and HARDER to wait for :(. I wish I could peek, but I just cant

The fact that it's so early in the game just makes me absolutely terrified of what's going to come later. I mean, it really was a cutscene on par with, if not surpassing, cutscenes at the end of the more recent Zelda games. The directing was much more proficient.

btw anyone knows where i can get really good quality zelda:tp videos?,the ones that were posted here the other week were not of a very good quality.

Pretty much my thoughts as well after playing the dungeon demo. There's just no way the GC controls can compete with the overall quality of the Wii controls. 3 more weeks...

Well, IGN and Gamespot are the only ones I know of(legally :lol ). If there was something posted in the Spoiler Thread that's past the 2nd dungeon, I wouldnt know of. But Im not too sure if anyone will risk a lawsuit uploading "better" versions of NDA breaking videos

No wai, I don't believe. It can't be better than Ganondorf's transformation in OoT.

For about half a second I thou ght that was a Zelda screenshot causing my blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels and the death of one innocent kitten!

DO YOU WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF A KITTEN??? I THINK NOT!

Then I woke up.
