There's something off with Claire's face.

It's her reclusive chin that makes her look "weird" and more "ugly". Just like in real world some specific face features play a big role on how attractive we perceive human faces.

Photogrammetry and face-scanning was a mistake. Really reminds me of Sara Ryder from Mass Effect but maybe less jarring because they don't use broken auto-animations.

Weird baby face.
It's even worse on the cover art

YIKES that leon face, they both look ugly af
at least they are consistent

I did some editing, not saying mine's better, the comparison just makes the difference a lot more noticeable:

Overbite so prominent looks like Matt Groening designed her. The 'fixed' picture looks like she finally went to the dentist and got fitted for a retainer.

Dental health is really important guys.

After seeing the real life face capture models for DMCV, there is something off with Capcom's face capturing.

Nico was an improvement, but the women that did Trish should be offended, Nero and Lady also look off compared to there real life counterpart. Dante and V they seem to got about right.
Lol that Trish.

But hey, maybe the model wanted to know what she would look like if she spends the next 10 years doing hardcore drugs

That new face definitely looks off, but I think it's better than RE: Revelations 2 Claire, where she looks like a completely different person from Code Veronica.

It's the engine, because every Capcom girl in recent games looks very mediocre while the real life counterpart looks acceptable or wonderful.
They all look like they're wearing latex masks based on the actors, similar but awkwardly uneven.

Trish looks far better in movement. That is a captured still during an animation. It is no different than starting a movie or youtube video and randomly pausing when someone is talking. You can get some really derpy faces.

Its just capcom being capcom

I remember when we had 2 playable levels with a character from Revelations then this happened

https://kotaku.com/5838725/a-pair-of-walking-tits-brings-resident-evils-direction-into-question

So they scraped the levels and killed off the character
I tried to give that a read but the amount of hate towards anything sexy was suffocating. How long have they been trying to act like art that isn't aimed at them has to die? God forbid a woman has breasts. I closed the tab once the first comment argued breasts were insulting, lol.

I really would like to know the pshychology behind why so many take pleasure in destroying things others like in this day and age. It feels like a form of bullying to me. I also find it funny how often arguments about respecting women involve calling women things like "walking tits". These kinds of articles often unload gender based insults against women with reckless abandon. Doesn't sound very respectful...

Its an old article but it seems like angry nu feminists are all about "sexism".

It's weird to me, from 2011 to now there is not much difference. Kotaku did the same thing with Ivy this year. I swear that "anti-fan service in games" movement has misogynists in it who act like feminists because they tolerate the most hateful language towards women as long as it fits their narrative. And then they call gamers toxic. :/

I wouldn't change these faces at all. Honestly, they've had the desired effect. Leon was 21 in the original game and Claire was 19. Both characters due to technical limitations and actors sounded and looked at least mid-30's. They're practically kids, Claire more-so as a teenager. I'm happy with their looks. Also, they're based on real people as we already know. So I'm looking at this as a fresh take.

I think this is the idea is they look closer to their age instead of generic "young person" of the PS1 era.

I think their looks are kinda cheesy but I like that, it feels like a 90s Japanese game done with modern tech, which is what it is.

Reminds me of Jennifer Lawrence, she just has a chubby face.

That's what I thought of too.
Still not as bad as Mass Effect Andromeda though

If I remember right the issue is the fact that her hair covers her eyes, which is odd looking and does make her look like a "walking pair of tits"

2011 was right on the cusp of the shift in attitude where people's asses get raw over any sexual content at all, it's possible if her hair was different the article wouldn't have been written, I personally think her hair is odd but the huge tits are only a plus.

But times were changing at that time and now it's gotten so bad that like I said, people get upset over the least amount of fanservice, which is stupid.

But it's rare to find someone who is as attractive as the women Capcom used for the face model that looks derpy every time you hit pause.

Did they really have to deflate Trish's airbags? She looks way too thin imo.

Also what engine are these games running on? Maybe mods can save these faces and or costume designs for people who prefer the original design.

This just my opinion but this feels someone cosplaying as Trish rather than Trish herself. I personally wish the character faces much more stylize rather than realistic.

The more and more I saw these two, the more I felt like I was in some French magazine photo shoot. Except now the reality isn't really that bad. I can picture them both moving right along with the events in the game. Capcom is building one game from this. Unless they call these models back for another remake.

Leon would have to age a lot more to fit his role in Resident Evil 4 & 6. Claire would definitely need to age to be in Code Veronica. Maybe that's why it feels so different. I'd like to see these two in some enhanced filter so we could see what they look like by the time Resident Evil 6 or 7 happens.

If you think Trish looks bad, wait until we see Vergil. From the video, his face looks disfigured or something (if you watch the part where he tears Nero's arm off, you can see the side of his face).

Heh, she doesn't have a perfect nose and lips, oh no, she resembles a real person instead of a model like all of the DMC characters. Whatever shall we do?

Are you kidding? She doesnt even resemble the real person she's modeled after lmao.

Why is it that Capcom succeeded with all of their other face models but this one is somehow off? I thought they used a real person?

Their uncanny valley faces felt right at home for Resident Evil 7 where almost everyone was a psycho but they are starting to feel very strange in other games. The game faces barely resemble their real life models as it stands. Capcom should tweak their tech for faces because it's starting to get distracting for both RE2R and DMC5.
