Things you should not buy on the cheap

One thing you definitely should buy on the cheap is, OTC drugs. There is no difference between Walmart brand and a name brand cost twice as much.

$750 doesn't fall into that category, especially when you said it was on sale. I'm talking about the $300 shit box computers from the big box stores. See the following video for what I mean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akVnl4HIHPY

Jesus this guy took 45 minutes to say don't buy cheap HP PCs.

Actually even more because there is apparently a second video?!?

The act of even buying toilet paper is being cheap, and gross.

Time to step up to flushable wipes, like the truly enlightened. It's 2017, stop being a savage.

Flushable wipes wreak havoc on city infrastructure and cost millions a year, which directly get charged back to the taxpayer.

It doesn't matter how much money you spend on toilet paper, you are only smearing shite around your ring piece, not cleaning it. Buy a bidet and never, NEVER dump anywhere but your house.

Anything you use daily, mattresses, cookware, shoes, TP. I'd argue the same for vaccuums as well. My Dyson is 13 years old now and still sucks stronger than a (censored).

You can go cheap on a suit, just get it tailored properly. If you have a common size you can do well at a thrift shop if you have a tailor.

Weird answer, but Cheetos. For some reason off-brand Cheetos are always pretty bad. Not sure of any other junk foods where the off-brand product is as vastly inferior compared to the actual

Agree, I ate some dollar tree off brand shit, and it no lie felt like I had swallowed a mouthful of chicken grease. Nearly puked

I think high quality bedding is worth the extra cost. I've had cheap store brand stuff, it piles up and isn't very soft to begin with leaving you feeling like you have to replace it.

For me bed is like a sanctuary from the world so I'm happy to spend a little extra on high quality cotton that I look forward to washing and using.

Kitchen appliances

When I moved into my own place I cheaped out on them and it's really not worth it. It's not worth to buy something that's 50% cheaper than a good brand if it will also break 50% faster and gives you worse results anyway.

Most things mostly food

Disagree.
Outside of vegetables and fruit (and even then not allways, a discounter near my house consistently has the best Avocados and they are like half as much as in big supermarkets) I've never had issues with cheap food.

In my experience (and this will of course depend on where you live and where you go buy groceries), store brand stuff is often just as good as the big brand equivalent.
Restaurants too, some of the best places I've been to have been on the low-mid tier price range

Steak/meat. I mean I eat a lot of cheap stuff but if I had the money I would only buy the high quality stuff. So huge of a difference.

For superficial things...

Jeans. Everybody should experience the pleasure of good jeans.

And like someone said on page 1 for real stuff...

Dogfood.

Sometimes you have to buy cheap stuff because you don't have enough money.
I'm on a budget and do my monthly grocery shop at Aldi. Their produce is nowhere near premium but, couple it with the right ingredients and cook it correctly, and you can make a delicious meal. Food doesn't have to be expensive to be tasty.

Generics can contain stereoisomers of active compounds, and stuff like time release coatings can behave differently. You're mostly right though.

Meats, cheese, fish, and produce you really should buy at a top tier grocer. It's fresher and lasts longer.

Non perishables you can buy from anywhere. All that stuff is the same so you may as well pay a lower sticker for it.

Shoes, but you have to care for them. If applicable, use shoe trees, maintain regularly, stuff some dry newspaper in there after wearing.

Ketchup, clothes, shoes, chocolate, electrical stuff, video game controllers, writing pads. Most stuff, really. Sure its cheaper, but false economy when you have to buy them twice or whatever.

I've been looking into a new Blender and I see demonstrations of Blendtec and Vitamix at Costco.

Are they worth +$500 compared to the $50 Blender I have at homev
