Third piller=Nintendo's genius strategy

Sure the DS numbers in US seem bad. I mean the DS was whole 50000 behind PSP. The DS however might have already acheived what Nintendo wanted to do with it. It has given gamers two choices:

GBA- for the budget conscous gamer.
DS- for those who want more for less(than PSP).

The result:

67% of major hanheld sales in December owned by Nintendo. Sure PSP may win the "handheld war" against DS, but the 1.12 million PSPs still fall short of the 1.22 million GBAs sold in the same month. This "handheld war" is nothing more than a battle for GBA's dust. It is similar to the console war were Nintendo fought Microsoft for second place only this time Nintendo owns the top piece of hardware (GBA) so a strong third place showing for DS might keep Nintendo holding on to 60% of the handheld market and that's if DS fails to beat PSP. Not bad Nintendo. Not bad at all.

dead heat between PSP and DS = perfect result.

It's a bout facking TIME someone made a DS vs. PSP thread. I don't understand why there hasn't been one before.

GBA + DS sales in 2005 > gba sales in 2004.
So, it's not too bad for nintendo. They aren't losing any market. At least not in 2005.

I think it is more a thing about how well Sony has done rather then how well Nintendo have dont. Sony has pretty much made a handheld market from their ps2 userbase as a secondary system. Nintendo has kept their hand held market and achieved a little of what they have set out to achieve(ie getting non gamers to buy a ds). While sony hasn't really bit off Nintendo's pie they have sort of put in the missing link for gamers who usually wouldn't get a handheld because the graphics are inferior.

Yes, but GBA+DS sales in 2005 < GBA+DS sales in 2004.

Not by much, though. ~1 million, I think.

I'm confused, i haven't read the boards in about a week or so. Have new sales #'s come out? All i've heard up till this point on message boards is how the DS is wiping the floor with the PSP.

And since the DS was supposedly killing the PSP it was used as the main argument in virtually every Revolution thread to show that the public no longer cared about graphics or the type of games currently being made and was sick of so called "conventional" gaming. The DS was supposed to be validation and a hint at how Nintendo was going to save the console gaming industry with the Revolution.

You do realize there are differences between the three various markets right? DS is killing PSP in Japan, in the US its become a dead-heat with DS coming on the latter half of the year, in Europe things seem to be about even with Sony seeming to have a bit more momenteum.

Besides why the hell are you not jacking off to Scarlett Johanson?

Even Naked Snake is :lol
