This is getting f!@#$%^& ridiculous -- still no Wii

Or they bought it thinking that rent and groceries weren't important, then learned the folly of their mistake. Most of my consoles have been in and out of pawn shops multiple times for this very reason.
How dare you imply that the system wars retards aren't right.

How dare you sir

Holy crap guys. Maybe you should seriously consider coming to Canada (those near the border anyway), since I always see plenty around here, not that I look every time I go out though. Maybe I should buy a bunch and sell them at eBay for huge profit. :lol This is in Ontario anyway, the US situation must be completely different, since I really have trouble imagining people not being able to find even one anywhere.

Expect there to be big stock when SSBB comes out. That's most likely the reason they delayed the North American launch by a month versus the week delay in Japan.

I refuse to believe that people still can't find a Wii.

If it's any consolation (clever pun?), it took me a month to find a 360 in stock at a Best Buy to take advantage of my replacement plan on my RRoD-ed machine.

EDIT: Wow, this thread grew since I left my browser running during that run to BB.

I reserved one for launch, and since that day I've seen exactly one new, boxed system for sale in stores. And because I have a kid and live in a cold climate, I probably go to some kind of store or mall at least 3-4 times a week, just to get the hell out of the house. I've never encountered anything like this, and it seems that the same thing is happening with Guitar Hero III for Wii.

I lucked out and got my Wii on Launch day, my parents were nice enough to get one for me. They barely lucked out though at that. They were 83 out of 85 available on Launch day at our BB. If it wasn't for them lucking out, I'd STILL be without one. But I agree this is gettin really ridiculous. I'm amazed they're still selling out just about everywhere! To the person who said try FYE, Costco, Toys R Us and a coupla other places..that really does seem to be the best chance you might have right now on lucking out and actually seeing one. Other than the one I have, I haven't actually seen one on a store shelf here in the South Suburbs of Chicago personally. My Aunt lucked out 2 weeks ago and got one from Costco. So if you don't mind payin a little extra for a bundle..and really really want one in time for Brawl ya might wanna look there.

Oy this is gonna be even worse next month when Brawl finally does get out here.

Probably gonna stay sold out like this at least through Spring I'm afraid :( But I do understand the frustration and hope everyone lookin for one does finally luck out and finds one.

The fact that the DS Lite is also impossible to find is just as bloody ridiculous. G'damn you, Nintendo. G'damn you for not being successful enough last generation and for being too successful this generation. Word.

first post on these forums

I don't buy all these Wii selling out stories. I mean, this guy from J0yst1q, who writes this industry column for gamedaily, who I found on Cubed3, who was reporting numbers from the latest Famitsu, says that the PS3, the successor to the most popular home console ever, has only supposedly sold like half of what the Wii has. This is on its home island nation too.

I just don't know.

Joke post? Sarcasm?

I didn't say anything about pirating, I simply said being able to run the games on my PC. Yes, emulators can do piracy, but that wasn't my point. Notice I mentioned "buying the games used".

Why the fuck would I buy a game if I'm a pirate?

Cry more humor-impaired tears!

There are more Wiis available than any near-launch home console ever.

Who started that quote on GAF? :lol
Glad I didn't listen to them and got one at launch.
I think this is the prototypical version:

i'll probably wake up sometime in the afternoon, drive to the nearest shopping center, pickup a wii + zelda and extra remote + nunchuck, go home and play wii sports for a little while, then load up zelda and say goodbye to the rest of the day.

i'm still undecided if i should import though. or wait till christmas to see if someone buys it for me. :P

I actually checked availability for the Navy Blue Enamel DS on Gamestop and nowhere to be found. Same thing on Amazon. FUCK NINTENDO

I won't buy any other color ;_;

They released Navy Blue in the US?

What if this generation does last longer then others, and this line of progression continues for eight years?

Nearing 200 million Wii's?
its incredible to see it accelerate away from the PS2 line as well. Nintendo are obviously increasingly supply, just that demand still outstrips it. Am really hoping that 3rd parties come to the game as well as there is a boatload of money to be made on the system with the right game and good marketing

The scary thing is that the Wii hasn't launched in multiple colors yet (you know it's coming... eventually) it hasn't seen a price drop (hell, it might sell out with a $50 price INCREASE judging from ebay) and they haven't launched one of their biggest games in the US yet (Brawl naturally). That's ignoring that people see Wii Fit (a game that should cost between 80 and 90 dollars) as a multi million seller.

Look, if we're going to keep having these kind of threads can we at least agree on some ground rules? We need to choose which is the accepted GAF-reality:

1. Nintendo loves money or 2. Nintendo does not love money.

If Nintendo loves money, then you better believe they're trying to produce as many consoles as possible as well as trying to get them out to consumers as quickly as possible. If Nintendo does not love money then, yes, they are intentionally keeping a mystery reserve of Wiis out of your reach, dangling it in front of you as if you were some poor mongrel dog begging for its first meal in months.

Either way: we can't have both.

Yep, all those things will increase sales dramatically. We may very well be looking at the greatest success story in home video game history.

Check out the original here and hip yourself to the most poorly written thing ever.

Yeah, Famitsu numbers this Wednesday are going to be VERY interesting. Can't wait! Oh, and to comment on the OP, to this day, I've only seen Wii just once on store shelves and no more.

No, they havent decided yet wether they should ramp up production. They are thinking about it, but nothing wont be changed till March.

I got mine last year in the summer. Of course, my brother who works at Costco scored it from there for my birthday :D Try Costco if you have one near you.

I love my Wii, but outside of Mario Galaxy and Prime 3, you aren't missing much. The 360 and PS3 have much better lineups right now, IMO. I've been glued to a bunch of games on those two machines and haven't touched the Wii since I finished SMG.

I'm really hoping that the Wii doesn't continue the tradition of Nintendo consoles that only have great 1st party games, but few amazing 3rd party contributions.

Did you pick up No More Heroes?

Or Zack and Wiki?

Whether it makes it in terms of sales, I almost guarantee it will be the greatest success in terms of profit in console history.

Cobalt/Black.

Comes out 2/10/08 (next Sunday).

There's an electronics store in the mall in sun valley, ca that has a host of wii's. The Problem is that they sell them in shitty bundles, with bullcrap that you dont want nor need, with shitty games. Its sad really. And they go for about $600. Why the hell do they have to sell them in bundles? Anyway, long after launch I got mine the hard way, well prob the way most of us got them. Checked my local electronics store papers, seen when they expect to get wii's in. Camp at 6 P.M the day before. My question is. Does this hold true today? Has anyone camped for one say in the last 3 months?

We've been getting a bunch of used ones, people are learning they bought a console for wii sports and 8 addon accessories and no games.

absolutely!!11!!1!

by the way guys, I think we should talk about 3rd parties on The wii. I think it really is of concern to have so much shovelware from 3rd parties and the situation is not improving. Do you guys think the 3rd parties will finally "get it" ? oh...when will the 3rd party situation improve?? will it ever improve? I wonder.

It's not like the increase from 1 million/month to 1.8 million/month they've already done is nothing.

No More Heroes is amazing. So you have no excuse for not touching your Wii since SMG.

Zelda, Mario Strikers, Zack and Wiki, Elebits, Super Paper Mario, Wario Ware, two Trauma Center games, and the under-talked about Monkey Ball, which was very fun.

That's a good first year lineup. No, it's not the 360 lineup, but no kidding. The 360's lineup is just amazing and it's been out a year longer.

But to say PS3 has a "much better lineup" than the list of games I just mentioned is pretty laughable.
