It is a good idea.
here is why:
1. Most of the adam jensens who finish this game, dont browse gaming news, and dont know about this meme. Its not popular.
2. When they finish this game, this new difficulty plops up and it sounds a bit strange, a bit funny, and this normal dude adam jensen goes ahead and looks at the description, satisfied that he played through the game once, thinking to himself, that he accutally is a little proud of himself, that he finished it, and sees the permadeath mention and shouts out loud: "oh good golly, dying erases my save? yeah I literally never asked for this!"
And he is like, 3.5 percent amused, because he thinks the name is fitting. And he goes ahead, closing the application, satisfied with his triumph over the baddies, and because emotions sum up, even a lillte bit more satisfied, bc the joke also is something slighty okayish-positive for him, and he goes to bed, resting, sleeping, dreaming of zelda wii u.
3. Games are allowed to unlock goofy stuff after a playthrough. Fat nathan drake e.g.
4. A goofy sentence that only plops up every new playthrough minus the first one should be even less intrusive than a goofy model, or game mechanic ( for a immersion purist)
Conclusion: Nobody should complain about it, and everybody who did should feel bad.
