The motivation is to score some cheap virtue points and free publicity. Do you honestly think all those companies showing the rainbow flag during pride month gives a shit about the cause? That's so incredibly naiveyou don't get the luxury to decide your own sexual inclination,so even if it was promoting, it would be a really stupid idea since no one decides to be heterosexual/gay/trans/whatever...you don't control who or what you want to fuck.
Who gets to decide who needs what? You? And why does something have to 'need' support in order to be celebrated? Why can't you show support for something even if if someone like you deem it 'not needed'?it sounds wrong because you are showing support for something that doesn't need it...heterosexuality is the norm and the overwhelming majority, heterosexual people don't face discriminations because of that, they don't get deny any particular right because of that, so what are you supporting them for exactly?
Straight males are huge part of the reason why we have made the advances that brought us here. What's wrong with celebrating that?
By the way, your line of thinking is what has brought us to where we are now - where it's perfectly fine to be insanely discriminatory against straight white males. Also, i'd like to see credible stats proving the overwhelming majority of homosexuals face discrimination because it sure as fuck isn't the case in Denmark
One could argue discrimination comes down to individual idiots yet apparently we have to dedicate not just a month, but multiple yearly events to a very small group that enjoys a whole slew of special protections. Why is that?and no, it's not a zero sum game..supporting sexual orientations that are not heterosexual doesn't automatically means you are denying something to the heterosexual part....of course there are some dicks that will use their position as a minority like a charte blanche to say whatever they want or try to get an advantage, but that fault falls on the individual, not on the cause...supporting the rights of minorities doesn't get wrong because a part of said minority is made of dicks.
Yes, it is an us vs them at the moment. When it's ok to be proud of being black, gay, asian, hispanic but not straight or white or when most politicians and media keep regurgitating lies in order to justify special treatment of women at the expense of men then it's very much an us vs them. You're promoting a 'solution' to discrimination which involves discriminating except against a different group. It's literally the opposite of equalityfor your last point, if someone is telling you you can talk about men rights (of course depending on the subject and how reasonable your complaint is), tell them to go eat a dick and you do you. It's not us vs them, we don't need to "win" over the other side, we just need to stop generalizing and forming teams and start talking again.
