It's E3 time and Famitsu finally has like 4-5 new games listed and they're all either total dogshit tites (Agerest, Otomedius) or tiny XBLA/PSN games.

Disappointing issue am total ;_;

Infinity Gene is very good, but why no DSi/WiiWare versions!? There's no excuse, size limits don't factor into this considering the minimalist look and how small the file size of the original iPhone game was.

Square Enix Teams With Lost Odyssey Developer

Lost Odyssey developer Feel Plus is teaming up not with Mistwalker but with Square Enix. The studio's new Xbox Live Arcade game, set to be published by Square Enix, is titled Moon Diver.

This side scrolling action title includes support for four player online cooperative play. You have access to speedy combo attacks, team-up attacks with your friends, and acrobatic actions that make use of the walls and ceilings.

I'll believe it when I see it, last I checked Microsoft Japan was totally bailing out on actual first party production or publishing in Japan. They only want to rely on third party support in Japan now, because all their first party efforts were deemed expensive and pointless. That's why they sold everything off to third party publishers too, like IU and N3-2.

Don't play with my poor heart! The fact that Feel Plus seems to be playing second fiddle on a lot of projects, when they should be given money to develop something akin to Shadow Hearts, breaks my heart ;_;

Well, even ignoring the fact that N3-2 was never touted as a high-profile release, I believe that has more to do with marketing and the fact Konami and SE are respectful names in the region, whereas Microsoft... Yeah.

And I remember them saying that they definitely intend to continue pursuing JRPGs in Japan, but I agree that if there are no big announcements at this year's TGS, it will be fair to assume they've given up.

Guess so. There was a feature in one of relatively recent issues of Edge in which various shmup developers talked about their support for Xbox 360 this gen. Basically, it boils down to having to choose just one platform for their niche audience, with Wii not being powerful enough for arcade-perfect ports (hm...) and PS3 being too expensive to develop for.

Bummer, and I recently got into shmups (Espgaluda II for the iPhone + Parodius/TwinBee/Gradius Portable for the PSP).

I was thinking more in terms of internal development and neither Avalance or RockSteady is part of Eidos (Ok, they own 25% of Rocksteady but WB still took Batman:AA 2).

They're already porting Zero so I don't see why they wouldn't port this one as well.

I wouldn't even count on SI:IG, at least outside of Japan, since the PSN version of Raystorm HD isn't getting a western release. But there's always Crystal Defenders :lol.

It's not just a Square issue though, but is common with Japanese publishers. SEGA and SNK have consistently been giving PSN the shaft too, for example. Could be any number of reasons, I guess. Perhaps a lot of Japanese publishers got suckered into signing pretty bad contracts with MS that made it difficult to release anything on competing DD services. Or heck SCEI might even be discouraging Japanese publishers from releasing these kinds of games on the PS3 in favor of the PSP.
