THQ is beyond saving, where would you want their IPs to end?

That's not possible though. You can't reboot the whole thing, pretend the previous two games didn't happen, when the last one only just came out.

Unless the upcoming Wii U version sells like gangbusters, I don't see how the franchise has a future either way. If some developer decided to grab the franchise, my first humble suggestion would be making their own decisions in terms of design and not just following the previous path. I'm not going to sit here and make some grand assumption that the art design has held the game back from being bigger than it could be, but speaking personally (and admittedly shallowly) the character designs were one reason that I stayed away from the original Darksiders for so long.

It wasn't even a matter of it just not looking how I wanted, I know what they were going for. I just found the designs plain offensive. And I mean no disrespect to the artist behind them, I've just noticed that there are other people who felt the same way and picked up the game regardless. Imagine how many people didn't pick up the game, solely because of that...all I'm saying.

The problem with the Darksiders IP is that the art seems to be the biggest selling point, or at least, what THQ has relied upon to sell the franchise (especially with 2 it seemed because I couldn't tell what the selling point of the game was) and using Joe Madureira for promotion. The thing is his art style is very divisive and can easily turn people off. Outside of the art, there really isn't much to sell the series to the consumers. I played 1 and didn't find it at all worthy of even being called a Zelda clone. And 2 from what I hear is even more of a mess.

Not to mention since Joe Mad isn't even working with Vigil anymore or on Darksiders, that alone should probably put an end to the series. I'd imagine he was probably one of the biggest proponents of the franchise to begin with since it was a comic book inspired game.

Capcom aren't in any kind of position to invest in a heavily indebted company like THQ. If Capcom bought THQ, even for a nominal sum like $1, it is likely both would end up bankrupt under the weight of THQs debts. Of the Japanese publishers only Namco and Konami have the ability to swallow THQ and their debts. However, neither have shown any interest in getting into western development and both are happy with where they are.

I wasn't saying Capcom, (or anyone) should buy THQ. That would be suicide. I'm saying they should pick up the franchises and development houses while THQ is desperate to unload them.

I'm fine with either Zenimax or SquareEnix, for the one i care about.
Infact, i'd say anything but EA, Konami, Capcom or Activision.

I heard THQ has till Summer to get the money or they will go bankrupt so that means WWE13 will be maybe their last WWE game.

I want Nintendo to hold all WWE licenses. I don't know the actual reason, but best WWE/WWF games I've played were on Nintendo consoles.

This is Nintendo we are talking about. Their entire business philosophy is antagonistic to these sorts of games. They will never directly publish something like Saints Row. They have always worked around this problem by supporting other developers to fill the niche on their console, e.g. RE4 on gamecube and recently ZombiU.

They're publishing Ninja Gaiden 3 and Bayonetta 2.

Company of Heroes is the one I'd worry about as a PC exclusive since most publishers frown on that, so I'd want them to go to a PC-centric place.

I knew about Baynoetta 2 but I honestly didn't know about NG3. Perhaps it was part of the deal with Team Ninja after Other M? Anyway, you guys are right, that is a strange direction for Nintendo. Maybe we will see a different Nintendo this gen.

Square Enix. Why do some of y'all wanna put these IPs to a first party publisher? Now I don't think THQ has the license to Warhammer Fantasy, but a Creative Assembly made Warhammer Total War would be amazing.

Company of Heroes needs to end up at someone with respect for PC games. Don't want to see Ubishit with it or someone like that.

Please god get WWE out of the hands of Yukes, the games look like shit and look like damn PS2 games, the lazy devs have been using the same damn engine for a decade, they lied many times about making new engines but its always looked like the same shit

It seems that THQ is done for, but they own a good set of IPs:

Metro
Saints Row
Darksiders
Warhammer 40,000
Homefront
WWE
Red Faction
Homeworld
Company of Heroes
UDraw (lol)
(tell me if I'm forgetting any)

Who do you think is the best suitor for each one and why?
You just made me realize that I don't care about any of THQ's games. I'm interested in Saints Row the 3rd, I loved the open world Red Faction and that's about it.

I only care about homeworld but I see no future for the franchise with anyone else but Relic, and I don't see them surviving thq demise.

WWE brand is easiest to monetize and cheapest to make profitable. I personally LOVE CoH far more but it's not nearly as easy to make hugely profitable.

Metro
Saints Row
Darksiders
Warhammer 40k
Homeworld
Company of Heroes

All of these are what I'd like to see stay. Some of these either have it big or have the potential to.

I hope Metro: Last Light will find a publisher ASAP.

It is my most-wanted FPS of this overall period and having it in such oblivion when being almost ready to release is just not right.

Ubisoft would be good for the Petrice lulz and because they seem to put equal amounts of attention and work on their games quality and sales wise.

Maybe square/enix just because they seem to let the devs breath and do their thing ala deus ex and sleeping dogs.

I heard THQ has till Summer to get the money or they will go bankrupt so that means WWE13 will be maybe their last WWE game.

As of today their stock is 9 cents from being in danger of ANOTHER de-listing notice (anything under a buck for a period of time). They did a 10 to 1 reverse stock split to escape last time not even a year ago, but that ain't gonna help this time. Their actual share price if you adjust to the pre-reverse split is now 10 cents.

I don't think they have until summer. Even spring seems fantastical. It's becoming overwhelmingly likely their IP will be split up and sold off to the highest bidder. We were just talking about this earlier in the week. I really think that Square Enix is a good fit for the IP as a whole. They can't do jack for their SE legacy products, but they've done well with EIDOS stuff, and I think they could do okay with the THQ IP.

I wonder if Nintendo would pick up the Quest64 IP to put the game on VC. I'm sure it wouldn't cost much, and who else would want it anyway?

Split everything worth a damn between Warner and Square Enix. Both seem like a good fit for most of THQ's current games.

Dont know who would even care about picking up the WWE licence at this point.

Would not mind some smaller WWE downloadable games though but I think the days of boxed WWE games will end with THQ until the next spike in WWE's popularity.

Metro isn't owned by THQ. Valve should get Relic with CoH and Homeworld IPs (they're PC IPs with strong multiplayer possibilities). Don't really care about others.

So much bad taste in this thread, ActiBlizz, EA, Betheseda? Really? Each of those would destroy these great IPs. This is why I wanted THQ to survive, they are really the only company I can trust with all these IPs, unless, by some miracle, Square Enix takes the entire stable. Square Enix is the only publisher I'd be OK with taking over THQ, 100% OK with. Their management of Eidos' properties has thus far gone over really well.

I hope South Park and Darksiders gets saved. Don't care for the other ips they have.

There's no way the South Park game won't get saved. South Park is too popular.

Darksiders I'm not as sure about. It does seem like the kind of game Square Enix would be interested in, though.

FUCK NO

Metro's devs want it to be a hardcore and challenging shooter, they're only marketing this to adult gamers if you've been reading any of the interviews. They're aiming to make Metro Last Light the Dark Souls of survival FPS's, and THQ was very cool with this.

The first thing Bethesda will do is butcher ALL of that. Metro needs a publishers who will let the devs do their thing and not interfere.

I just hope that Metro Last light wont have an another Nazi Stealth moment. Damn that part was hard.
