THQ Nordic doing an AMA on 8chan now (26.02.19)

Gaming AMAs on 8chan, next we will have gaming tech videos on Pornhub. Maybe Digital Foundry should move their videos to Xhamster or Xtube too...
 
Fucking hell.

I come home from work, open up the usual, and all I see are Austin "God I wish I had a Vagina" Walker, and Patrick "All of these things I did are now punishable by death in my eyes" Klepek rolling around like pigs in shit, frothing at the mouth with delight at how morally superior they can appear.

It's a dumb move by THQ Nordic. If only because this is the exact type of ammunition these idiots need to dedicate their lives to fucking up yours.
 
The response from the typical outlets and individuals would have been exactly the same, had the AMA been hosted on any other controversial imageboard or anonymous-user site. Either the PR representative was fully aware the session would likely generate negative attention and had the proper clearance, or he was legitimately careless. Whether the individual keeps his job will probably provide the answer.

For a company with publicly-traded shares, the stunt is certainly questionable, but as someone with no skin in the game, it's not something that bothers me.

The difference between 4chan and 8chan is pretty huge. I doubt you'd see the exact same reactions, considering only one of those websites is even accessible through Google.

No idea to be honest, I've always stayed away from these places since they are basically the same. As someone once said: 4chan is one side of the coin, reddit is basically just the other one.

I disagree. Using 4chan as an example, you'd still see talk of child pornography and hate groups. I see any other controversial imageboard or anonymous-user site drawing similar response, even if the connections to indecent content were more tenuous.

4chan and 8chan are a good illustration of the dangers of all the censorship and deplatforming wars that are going on. Also relevant given the recent KiA issues as well with the moderation Paracelsus Paracelsus :) The existence of a platform where people can be 'free' means escaping a platform that is failing to tolerate moderate views - mainly because they are being deplatformed/censored. It's the digital equivalent of Sargon joining UKIP. You're pushing intelligent and reasonable people to platforms where free speech is allowed but also subject to no laws or moral standards. If anything, this emboldens the extremists in these communities as they grow in numbers, convinced that the moderates are actually aligned on the disgusting viewpoints as well.

When people say deplatforming works, it is a very short sighted claim and displays a total ignorance or lack of understanding of the knock on effects. When they say deplatforming works they refer only to hiding something from their view, or being able to uphold an illusion that it no longer exists. And it's because these people see deplatforming as a means to financially ruin people, whilst having no respect for the ideology - which endures. I mean CBD and drug selling sites are pretty much deplatformed (in the UK at least), so what's the go-to? Instagram and wickr, or even the darknet/DreamMarket.

8ch isn't just your casual image board, and it most certainly doesn't have accidental CP slip through. It's a fucking hive mind for that shit, and well known for it too. There's a reason everyone says fucked up shit goes there rather then 4ch.

This is straight up bad PR. THQ have actually been going really fucking good in even the eyes of those who had previously criticised them. The Kingdom Come stuff was stupid, apparently rewriting history is needed to keep people appeased despite clear outlines as to keeping accuracy and doing your research.

Don't defend 8ch or wipe it off as a casual place of some intolerance. It is a cesspool of disgusting human behaviour that if you even had n inkling of wanting to be a mother or father you'd want the place burnt to the ground.

Do it. Phenomenal game that delivers above Mount and Blade combat. Though I'd grab a few mods just to clean up some things but overall it's fucking fantastic of an RPG. Now I need to play it again.

From my basic understanding at some point some 4chan users felt like the site had become too "tame" so they went and made 8 chan which welcomes all of the stuff that 4Chan has banned over the years

I mean, I was aware that there was a place called 8chan, but I had never visited or even knew its actual web address until looking it up just now. If you aren't already mired in this shit, how are you supposed to know its this wretched hive of scum and villainy?

Considering how "off the map" this place is supposed to be, its also kinda easy to get its url from the official Twitter page. So if people are losing their shit over a company hosting a gaming AMA there, shouldn't they be even more irate that fucking Twitter is offering an easy referral to it?

So I take it 8chan is a worse 4chan. I think I'll refrain from checking it out, I hated the few times I read 4chan for supposed game leaks (I think there was some Resident Evil stuff I read there). So much animosity and hate, every other post was trollish none sense meant to start a fight. If 8chan is like that but with more offensive imagery I can see no reason to go there. Odd place to host an AMA.
