That one is fairly obscure I think. I'm sure people at GAF has played it, but it's a pretty decent jRPG. Very childish, but good!
Some relative of mine thought it would be a great idea to get me that game.Gamer @ Heart said:http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/2/588582_49892_front.jpg
I was 7. I had my choice of any game in Toys R Us. I fucking came out with this. I still cant believe it.

Loved that RTS. Also had a PS1 version, but the PC one is much easier to play. While I think the balence was broken to an extent (Where after the long tech tree you could get a long range weapon that you couldn't counter without the same weapon when used correctly), I loved the unit customization so much.

Surprised Wiki had an article on it.
Probably not as obscure, but I'm curious to see who else has played it:

Might not be as obscure as I think, I just have never heard anyone ever make reference to it. Even at a video game company (which, admittedly, doesn't mean that there's more video game knowledge than a forum).

Moonstone: A Hard Days Knight
An action game with a knight. You choose one out of four knights, which determines your initial location on the map. Your goal is to obtain the moonstone for the Druids. Your movement on the map is limited, and when the day runs out, the other knights and the Dragon take turn. It was pretty fun and extremely violent for its time. I still love this game.

Moonstone was hyped to death at the time. So many including me played it just for the blood.

Ah, I remember stumbling on footage of this game as the Japanese version is called Mesopotamia.
This being GAF, I'm sure this one isn't considered obscure... but no one I know ever played this game.

Ah I've played the demo. Kind of forgot about it over the years though...
Time for my contribution.

Nonono Puzzle Chai-Rian. The boxart really caught my and I noticed it cheap on Play-Asia a few years ago and so found out a bit more and decided to jump in. Also worth noting for Japanese DSi owners an expanded version of the best mode in the game got released as the "KuruKuru Action: KuruPachi 6" on DSiWare about a year ago. Here is some footage. (from the GBA version). It is made by Creatures Inc (who you might have heard of...)

Puzzle Series Vol. 12: Akari. Similar story to above; checked it curiously, saw it cheap and went for it (in hindsight I'm not sure why I hesitated on others in the series...guess I thought they would also fall in price but they didn't; they just went out of print).

Such a great game. Puzzles all involved floaty pillars or lighting torches, but they were still fun. :lol Great exploration and a huge detailed world with lots of secrets. Good story. The whole package, really.
The combat is similar to A Link to the Past. Swing your sword rapidly and try to dodge enemies' attacks.Cep said:I have never played this. Looks good.

Who's played Ecstatica? It was fantastic, it had great atmosphere, gnome bashing and you were chased by an invincible werewolf, very scary.

Calling Winback innovative is pushing it a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if the developers of Gears of War had never even played Winback. That's how far apart they are on the quality of gameplay/cover mechanic spectrum.I NEED SCISSORS said:Well good for them - but to say that Gears of War is at all innovative, like a lot of people did when it was released, is a lie. History proves that its often the 'forgettable' games that innovate the most - I bet a lot of developers harvest their ideas simply because they think no one remembers them, which to me is very sad.

Vampire Hunter D
A mediocre game in most aspects, is based on the movie, well it's based in the last 20 minutes of the movie (the castle part).Looks like a RE clon, but in reality it's a beat'em up.
fun.
Air Zombie Meat said:Chaos on the spectrum is a game that I adored but don't ever see mentioned much. Was a turn based strategy game made by Julian Gollop before he made the Rebelstar\Laser Squad\X-Com games. Was really replayable (lots of random elements and played like a board game) and great fun multiplayer.

I replayed a game of it over the internets just last year!

Once I understood what the end-game would be like (going by the skill-tree or whatever) I could not motivate myself enough to keep playing it, just knowing how terrible it would be.Palmer_v1 said:![]()
