Three in May - Backlog Returns 3D

I failed miserably last time and only got one done. Let's try again.

Metal Gear Solid
Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition
Uncharted Golden Abyss

This one should be easy. I'm halfway through all three of these.

I completely fell off the map in April so there is a lot I want to get done

PS3:
inFamous 2
Guacamelee
Spec Ops the Line
Vanquish
Sly 2 HD
Ratchet & Clank 2 HD

3DS/DS:
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
Phoenix Wright Justice For All
Fire Emblem Awakening

WiiU:
Super Mario World
Scribblenauts Unlimited

Doubt I'll get everything in but I can try!

Damn, I wish I had your free time.

RIP in peace, Anderson Cooper ;__;

I've managed to beat the monthly challenge unofficially for the past two months, so I think it's time to throw my hat in officially this time.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is at the top of the list. I'm just not sure what to do for the other two games. In the spirit of the OG thread, I'll take orders from whoever is willing to tell me which I should tackle.

  • Arkedo Series: 01 JUMP!
  • Botanicula
  • Corpse Party (thanks for the reminder, Torraz)
  • Final Fantasy III (the DS game, not FFVI)
  • Final Fantasy IV
  • Gunman Clive
  • Machinarium
  • PixelJunk Shooter
  • PixelJunk Sidescroller
  • Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure
  • Waking Mars

If you actually have that many completely untried games (as opposed to just not having updated the ones you've played) that's quite amazing.

Any game at any point in time is permitted as long as you can beat it before June. You could theoretically sign yourself up for a game that comes out on May 31st, though that would be pretty unwise!

Shooter is best played co-op, so tackle that early if you can find someone. I loved Machinarium, and it's not terribly long either.

I wish I could experience that for the first time ever again.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Dragon Quest V

DQV is going to be the really tough one since I have barely played it at all. The other two I should be able to finish and really want to since DKCR3D and the Oracle games are coming out at the end of the month.

I have five games I want to complete in May.

Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds (Completed May 1st)
Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga
Guacamelee! (Completed May 25th)
Tales of the Abyss 3D
Darksiders 2
My updated list. Not doing good.

Mission accepted! Too bad there's no one around who'd be willing to play Shooter co-op with me, though.

I finished my two last month, but I wish I had finished more. My plans:

- Tales of the Abyss - 21 hours in now, but I have no clue how much more I have left. could be anywhere between 20-40 hours at least.
- Fez - Just picked this up on Steam and it should be ready for me to play later tonight.
- FFIII - I have the DS version and I want to play through and beat it.

Extras:
- Arkham Asylum/City
- Monaco
- Saint Row: The Third

No more school (finally graduated last month) but it'll still be pretty busy until I finish up a few other real world responsibilities. Hope I can clear 2 RPGs before the end of May.

I'm aiming to get through Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney because the fact that I own that entire series but haven't ever finished a game is shameful.

I haven't decided what else to play, I'll sub and update later. I did pretty good the first half of April, I smashed the target total but my list ended up different from what I chose at the start of the month...

I actually have some time set aside to play games this month so will join in. I hope to complete:
Tomb Raider
Far Cry 3 (and Blood Dragon)
Bulletstorm

My backcatalog is out of control currently, hopefully I can use the upcoming long weekend to clear it down a bit.

I reached my goal in April with two, but hoped for more. Ended up playing a couple different games that I should finish relatively soon.

Injustice: Gods Among Us (Still need to get all the arcade endings and finish Star Labs)
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (replaying for my Zelda timeline playthrough. Close to finished)
God of War: Ascension (Haven't started yet)

All about Persona 4 Golden for me.
Even if its all I beat depending on the length it'll count as 3 games for me.

Though after that its back to pandoras tower and then whatever I feel like after that.

Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal
Spec-Ops: The Line
Psychonauts

I'll most likely fail to beat all three, but we'll see.

Actually beat 3 last month, so this month will be...

Bioshock Infinite
L.A. Noire
Uncharted 3

Bonus:
Mega Man X
Beatmania (at least to the point where I'm comfortable with it)

I'm off from work (on unemployment) until September. Just went through a pretty crazy temp position at a hedge fund company doing financial statement reporting. Put in some crazy weeks during a 3-4 months span, working 60 some hour weeks at times. I've got a lot of time to catch up on some stuff so this is the first month since the new year where I can actually try and focus on playing stuff. I'm going to try and at least beat the following games. Some of these listed I'll just see to the end while others I'll probably go for 100% depending on their investment.

PS1:
Echo Night
Clock Tower
Tecmo's Deception
Silent Bomber
Jersey Devil
Powerslave
Pinobee
Alundra (replay)

3DS:
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

PS3:
Ni-no-Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
Guacamelee

I got through my list pretty easily last month; this month I'm going for:

Plants vs Zombies PS Vita
Guacamelee!
Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken
Bonus: Sound Shapes (almost finished the first run through of all the albums including the DLC, I think)

I'll also be plugging away at Soul Sacrifice throughout the month, and getting the last two trophies in MBA; I hope they don't impact my targets too much.

Must Beat:
-Persona 3 Portable (Last.Damn.Boss)
-Arkham City
-Bullestorm

Bonus Points:
-Catherine
-inFamous

Queue has reached 100+ games now, but I'm pretty much done buying games until next generation. I should be knocking out more PC games before my room gets too hot in the summer, but:

Bioshock Infinite (Steam)
Final Fantasy 3 (DS)
Panzer Dragoon (Just bought a Saturn and ~20 games)

I'll try this. I failed at the Four in February (only got 3) so maybe 3 in May will work....

Resident Evil 6
Spec Ops: The Line
I want to finish the story line for Defiance, so that can count for number 3.

My first of the month can be crossed off - Torchlight is done. Well, up to beating the final boss and all the sidequests up to that point (not tackling the extras that open up afterward). It's kind of okay, it seems polished and enjoyable if you're into dungeon crawlers. I don't think it's my cup of tea though, really.

Not sure what my next game will be. Do either of the Left 4 Dead games have single-player campaign modes?

Finals end for me next week so I should be able to actually get three games done

Lego City Undercover
Fist of the North Star 2
Style Savvy Trendsetters

My first crack at this!

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD (Xbox 360)
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (Xbox 360)
Tomb Raider (Xbox 360)

If time

God of War 1&2 HD Collection (PS3)

-Borderlands 2
-Max Payne

if I get those I'll move on to one of these : Tropico 4 / Deus Ex / Mark of the Ninja

or a Steam/ GMG sale will get me heh

PS1:
Echo Night
Clock Tower
Tecmo's Deception
Silent Bomber
Jersey Devil
Powerslave
Pinobee
Alundra (replay)

3DS:
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

PS3:
Ni-no-Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
Guacamelee

Small update. I stayed up pretty late to finish Echo Night last night. As an old school From Software fan I finally got around to playing through their original adventure game.I actually played Echo Night: Beyond on PS2 first and it wasn't until about a week ago that I deiced to return to the original. Needless to say, I'm glad I did because I loved it. Echo Night feels and looks like a King's Field game, but at the same time it's otherworldly. There's something about From Software and their non-flagship titles (Shadow Tower, Echo Night, Evergrace, Eternal Ring, etc.) that feel so odd and unique. I almost cannot even describe the vibes these games give off and how they make me feel. Whatever vibes these games are giving off are working for me though. From Software just makes sense to me, hah!

I believe I saw the normal ending, but apparently there are two more depending on whether or not you freed all the ghosts in the game. Very cool. I think I'll hold off on replaying the game because I want to get to other stuff. It's a shame the second game never made it to NA because now it's the only one left in the series that I haven't played and I really want to check it out! Oh well. =(

I'll try it this month:

  • Luigi's Mansion 2
  • Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
  • The Amazing Spider-Man

I probably can't do it with such little time I have. :(

Do I just register at backloggery and then I can follow my progress?

Update: I beat Awakening. SO SO GOOD. Man. I absolutely loved it. First Fire Emblem game too.

Started on Tomb Raider. This is probably my favorite reoccurring thread on GAF, along with the pick up post.

KOTOR 2
Played this years ago. Gonna try the restoration mod. Hopefully, I don't remember too much of the game as I go along. Playing it fresh again would be awesome.

Alan Wake American Nightmare
I loved the base game. Its story is the only one that I've enjoyed recently. Hopefully the expansion comes close to it.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
I want to complete this before It loses my attention and I move onto other games.

So hopefully I can beat at least one of these. I've been terrible as of late at completing games.

Injustice: Gods Among Us
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
God of War: Ascension

Finished Link to the Past and did all sidequests. Now working on Injustice's Star Labs.

Playing through Binary Domain right now, almost at the end. Not gonna bother listing the other two titles since my backlog is huge and I have no idea what I'll play next.

I get very little time to play, but I'm going to try to knock out these 3 this month:

* Bioshock
* Hotline Miami
* The Walking Dead

Three games I'd really like to get finished up are:

Skyrim - clocked already 85+hrs, gonna finish at least the rest of the interesting quests.

Valkyria Chronicles - I've been stuck on mission 17 for some time. Just gotta do some grinding to pass it.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - I've been playing this very slowly since it released, It's time i get serious and finish it.

Update! Added another game to my PS1 list too.

PS1:
Echo Night
Clock Tower
Tecmo's Deception
Silent Bomber
Jersey Devil
Powerslave
Pinobee
The Divide: Enemies Within
Alundra (replay)

3DS:
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

PS3:
Ni-no-Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
Guacamelee

Just beat Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. After 27 hours I finally finished the game. I actually only have 4 missions left to 3-Star, 1 Boo to collect, and 3 Gems and I'll have the main game 100% complete (unless there's some reward for maxing Gold which looks like it could take ages to do). Really enjoyed the game the more I played. The final mansion was incredible. The boss was pretty fun too and somewhat made up for the lackluster last few bosses. I still have mixed feelings about the whole game, especially compared to the original, but overall I really enjoyed myself. The mansions were just TOO WELL designed to nitpick. Don't really care for the multiplayer, but I'll probably mop up the rest of the singleplayer stuff before I shelf it for awhile.

I didn't get to the thread, but I did indeed beat Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Sonic Generations this past April. Hell yes.

This time:

Devil May Cry 1
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Sakura Wars V

I did very well with cleaning up my PS 3 and Xbox 360 backlogs in April, so I want to start with a bit of the psp backlog:

Corpse Party
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows.

Also going to start both the Arland and Hyperdimension trilogies, so:

Atelier Rorona
Hyperdimension Neptunia

I will probably also play the free Hitman Absolution game from PS+.

I will leave it at these 5 for now.

Possible bonus:
Other games from the Arland oder Hyperdimension series or Persona 3 FES and/or p3portable as female MC.

Three games down:

Corpse Party
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows.

Hitman Absolution

Finished Machinarium today. I only got stuck enough to look up a solution once (the bird). It was fun, except for the maze. Yuck. Very weird because the other minigames had decent control schemes.

This is gonna take a while ......

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon - PC
Fez - PC
Tomb Raider - PC (thought my desire to even bother finishing is waining since the game is a disappontment)
Dead Space 3 - Xbox 360 (same as above)
God of War: Ascencion - PS3
Injustice: Gods Among Us - PS3
Skyrim expansions - PC
Metal Gear Rising - Xbox 360
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time - PS3

Probably a few more too.

I'm probably going to fail this time. I have nothing but exams/projects next week. I beat R&C 2 on April 30th but am still going to Platinum it, so I'm not done with that. Then, I just ordered a Vita and P4G, and that doesn't seem like a game you beat in ~20 hours and move on. I'll be lucky to beat 2.

Yeah that bird puzzle was a tough one! Kinda reminded me of those puzzles on DS where you had to close the lid in frustration to progress.

I failed at this last month. Only finished Spec Ops: The Line and had Vanquish (or Heavy Rain?) to go.

It will be the following this month I guess:

Heavy Rain
Vanquish
An undecided third one... Too many in the backlog.

I'm guessing I might fail this month as well. Work schedule is pretty unpredictable, with a couple of major projects starting to ramp up. I'm also running out of shorter games.

May:
  • Borderlands 2
  • Alice: Madness Returns
  • Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

I already have about 20 hours into Borderlands, 3-4 in Alice and a 1-2 in Dissidia, so it may be obtainable.

Won't be able to play until June. Once I do I'll be playing/continuing:

PS3:
Uncharted 3
MGS4
Demon's Souls
Kingdoms of Amalur
Infamous 2

360:
Binary Domain
Dishonored
Gears of War 3
Hitman: Absolution
RE6

Planning to buy Dead Space 3, King of Fighters 13, and Injustice: GAU. I study overseas so I can only play in brief spurts.
