Usually the first thing I do when signing up for any forum is maxing the posts per page, setting correct time zone and disabling forum signatures.

The ones that usually made me chuckle though were the sigs from the weirdos over at the Bioware social network, when I was too lazy to sign and forced to see them.

I never had any Photoshop talent myself but some people on various sites made me some pretty badass signatures and avatars back in the day. I had a lot more avatars but these are some of the best sigs that I found on my old Photobucket.

The last time I remember having an actual image signature was in the Gearbox Software Halo PC forums back when that community at its most active and the forums were still brown.

One of the mods got wasted and started posting crazy shit. I turned it into a signature of his greatest hits and animated it to cycle through the posts. Mods got stars under their names, so I moved and animated the stars to be circling his avatar like in a cartoon.
I thought it was at least more fun and creative that your typical "dramatic quote and someone elses art" shit. That was probably 13 years ago.

For a time that was an enormous thriving community. After enough new Halos released the community naturally dwindled, then Gearbox shoved that subforum into a corner, then erased it entirely. The teams that persevered of course moved on to new homes. I still see a couple of those users around the net from time to time.

I used to visit a really small forum that took making sigs real seriously (we called them "tags"). There's a real artistry to making really cool looking art in a really small canvas. A lot of the members there ended up becoming graphic designers and making some beautiful art.

My friend made these, dude used to be so good with typography.

I wish I could find more but most are lost for forever.
