• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Thurrott: You can probably play Xbox Games on your PC (soon).

I wish you the best of luck. (You sound like the Windows Central guys saying how Microsoft wouldn't abandon all the products I listed above, impossible they said... no way they abandon mobile!) Again, I wish you luck.

Lol where the hell did that come from?

Well, you are right it is my speculation ( exactly how this plays out is not known), but if you were in IT supporting this (Microsoft products) you might better understand where this has already gone and where MIcrosoft is telling everyone where its going - its not really one product, its generally across the board.

There isn't anything Windows or Xbox is doing locally which Microsoft (not me) believes can't be done in the Cloud but there always a small group of hold outs that believe the ride isn't over. I mean you have Microsoft announcing end of life on mobile and you have Windows Phone developers keep on saying a Surface phone is coming. Kind of sad, them not wanting to know its over. I am not telling anyone to like or dislike this future, but it is coming from Microsift ..... it was here 5 years ago its just the normal consumer doesn't understand it completely, imo.

I was more referring to your reasoning behind all of Microsoft's moves because you constantly say all they do is kill products. Which is flat out false.

Microsoft definitely has ended products but telling people to "Run" is ridiculous and only makes you sound like a Microsoft hater.

You're reasoning and arguments are all.over the place and I don't understand why you keep replying to posters just to complain about windows phone.

So what's your beef?

Hmm but we allready have all xbox games on pc at least last couple years. So whats point here? But good that they saying more clearly that you dont need xbox console anymore if you have decent laptop

Most people are interested to see if this concerns og Xbox and 360 titles too.

They do? Well that would be great sure if they would be like emulated enhanced. Not many ppl that i know care for those though. Most ppl just like to talk about it and then later not use it. Same as with x1 backwards, all so wanted backwards on x1 and then just meh we no use it.

Would be interesting if MS combine the storefronts of PC and Scarlett. I hope they are going this way and I'm sure this is their vision. Gamepass for PC must just be a stop-gap measure... later, they can announce "every Xbox game for Scarlett is compatible with PC".

I'm a little surprised they didn't announce this at E3 to be completely honest. Using Halo Infinite as an example: single purchase giving you the game for streaming, PC and console. They could have at least announced this as their vision. I feel like they missed a major trick here. Instead of innovating and driving the industry forward, they simply came off as reactionary and derivative.

That is exactly what I'm suspecting they are trying to get every Xbox One game working on Scarlett, the Xbox 360 BC stuff, and Xbox OG BC stuff.
Those efforts will go into next gen and into PC.

After these rumors E3 was very disepointing.

I wouldn't even call Gamepass on PC for Xbox on PC. Half of the titles doesn't have achivements because they made it optional. Some online games doesn't support XBL features at all. People on my Xbox friends list can't even see what I'm playing on Gamepass, that's how bad it is.

They can't just announce it. Why would third party publisher with their own store clients ever agree to this?

I'm a little confused. There is only one store now, the Microsoft Store. The Xbox Store was closed/merged with the Microsoft Store in 2016/17 time frame. I'm assuming there will be another subscription for xCloud, and since they're app happy... .probably another one of those. You do make somewhat of a valid point -- just put Windows 10 on the new Xboxes and call it a day? My guess, its still a perception thing for people invested in "consoles".

Do not read below this line, if you want the real truth
----------------------------------------------------

Microsoft's PC digital stores and program/apps for their digital stores have been a freaking disaster since they released Games for Windows Live in 2007, meaning, I wouldn't hold my breath. (it just goes on and on and on)

The rumor in this started because MS wanted to test State of Decay as an "Xbox game on PC". We know today that this was for PC Gamepass. Whatever else it could be is just guessing. Consoles are still their primary target, unless they say something else.

Yeah, I can't guarantee they will ever release this into the wild, I think if they did the big publishers are gone in an instant. We'll see. I disagree with the premise they want to primarily target consoles, their target is everywhere, obviously some things are much harder to do than others.

For the record, I don't think most of this will pan out, but Phil wanted a job, now he has one. (its going to be interesting to watch)

Don't worry I think it's still coming references to D3DXboxonPC were found in a Windows 10 20H1 build

Phil Spencer also talked about Xbox OG, and Xbox 360 BC on PC.
At Inside Xbox they said something about the games announced are the last of the Xbox One BC program now they are focusing on getting these games along with all the Xbox One titles to work on Project Scarlett.

It's possible the Game Pass on PC is a stopgap and when Project Scarlett, the BC stuff along with the Xbox Scarlett games might show up on PC.

We are sadly going to have to wait till E3 2020 to hear anything on it.

Will they keep adding OG/360 BC games? I thought they were done with it.
They are not doing anymore BC until Xbox Scarlett launches

  • Gears 5 will showcase its campaign right before launch.
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate sales spiked after the company's briefing.
  • X019 is coming to London in November.
  • The new Xbox Elite Wireless Controller: Season 2 has more features and durability.
  • New backward compatible games will be added once "Project Scarlett" launches.

So will they resume their BC initiative after Scarlett is released?

Pretty much that could include PC as well.
Xbox 360, and Xbox OG BC will continue of course to be supported for Xbox One even when the Scarlett is out likely.
I just wanna know if we should expect new OG/360 games to be added... MS hasn't clarified their stance.
