Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie aka B$M

I think people are saying it's tamer because the movie isn't a full on assault of "spaz editing" at all times like Awesome Show.

Most of their recent work after AS has been more conventional. I actually think the movie is rather perfect as it strikes a balance between conventional (though absurd) comedy, sprinkled with little AS-like segments every now and then.

gonna watch this tonight with some friends.Talked to my cousin who is in the US sent him some money he is gonna grab me an itunes card so finally I can see this thing.

I didn't say it was tamer because of camera cuts or editing. It was something about the humor/writing that seemed a little tame. I think a lot of their quirks and oddities are becoming normal to me, since I've seen them use the same gags a few times. There was a mix of funny new material and stuff I'd seen them do before, and a bunch of stuff that got spoiled by the trailer, so the movie didn't really surprised me, like they usually do. I'll still watch it a lot and buy the DVD, but my first watch just felt solid, but not mind-blowing.

and why else would a character who instantly "adopts" a young boy after he meets him in an almost "love at first sight" sort of film introduction be running his fingers through his hair, immediately examine the kid's teeth, etc etc...i know it's all in humor but to me it all might be leading to something more than just a comical relationship between father and son,
You see those things and see it as being more than father and son. I see those things and think it's less than father and son, but more like between a man and a pet.

I liked it but agree it felt slightly conventional, but that's due in part to adapting their humor from 2 minute skits to a 90 minute movie. There were a lot of really weird little touches and bizarre details that I loved and felt true to the show.

People who like the show will dig it, but I can see non-fans hating it. Critics are definitely not going to get it. It'll be really funny to see reviews.

Spielberg
at the end was a great touch. I'm sure most who are out of the T&E loop will just be about ready to belt out a big ol 'WTF' and then they see
Spielberg
and try to figure out how he agreed to be in the movie in any way

it screwed me up when i first saw the episode with him and I checked to see if it was him. They tend to pull some random celebrities in (though yeah, spielberg would be completely ridiculous.)

I watched the episode with Josh Groban singing Casey songs yesterday! My cousin is friends with him, so I've decided if I ever get to meet him, I'm gonna tell him I know him from Awesome Show.

Yes he plays John Depp which is what I wish they would have called him would have been funnier. So I watched this the other night with some friends I gotta say I was a little disappointing with this movie.I thought about the film alot the last 2 days and I don't know it just didn't grab me nor did I find it particularly funny. There was some small funny moments and I think the funniest moment was Shrim but only because I couldn't believe they got that past the censors and how they are gonna be able to get that in theaters.

I think the problem with the film was the pacing it didn't give enough time to focus on anything really I think some of the new characters could have been interesting but it felt like such a rush to the end which the ending was god awful.I did like somethings though alot of the small nods to the show and the little quirks but overall it just didn't do much for me I thought Tim and Eric's characters themselves especially Tim's was incredibly unlikable.

I do however want to view it again when the dvd is released but yeah right now I want to like it but part of me just can't for some reason. Also like some has already said I am surprised there was no nod to Richard "pep pep"' Dunn not even a in memory of or dedication.

I don't know if you'd call it an acting career really, but that guy's entire credits list at IMDb is
Steven Spielberg, or "Studio Executive"
.

I assume "Johnny Depp" was the same guy who was "John Depp" on Awesome Show? IMDb was less helpful in confirming that.
John Depp from the Universe episode looked a lot more like Johnny Depp than he did in B$M (if that is the same guy).

Bon jore.

Bon jore.

I loved how he was just saying that to nobody on the street.

The whole actual 'Billion Dollar Movie' with Johnny Depp was hilarious. The insanely huge diamond and then the movie just ends. The opening credits were longer than the actual movie.

I was just thinking...

T&E's audience is EXTREMELY tuned into the internet. Anyone who is a fan probably already ordered and saw the movie On Demand.

basically... is this movie going to bomb to high hell at the box office? I'm a huge T&E fan, but I've already seen the movie 3 times now (twice at my apartment, another at a friend's place). There's no way I'd further pay money to see this in a theater.

It's not getting a wide release so no, it probably won't "bomb."

Yeah, Magnolia's main source of income is turning into VOD which we get no exact numbers for. They don't put a lot into theatrical roll-outs so it is rare they ever have a film that "bombs."

I actually saw this movie over the weekend (right after watching Fritz the Cat). That combination was more bizarreness than I've seen in quite some time.

I thought some things were entertaining, but I don't think I really like the Tim and Eric style, or the songs, or the infomercials, or the over-the-top scene where
the couple uses lots of sex toys while the little boy watches, and a bunch of other boys defecate on a guy until he is completely covered by it in a bathtub
. =(

First thing though, we've got to get rid of that
woooooooooooooooooooolf
.

Completely and utterly disappointed. :(

Some funny parts, but overall this movie was just not very good, and this is coming from a guy that watches the seasons of the show every other month or so and busts out laughing each time.

I saw this at my friend's place the other night and I thought it was hilarious. I'm a big fan of the show and I thought they did a really great job of translating an ~11 minute randomness show into a full-length movie.

The SNL dude that owned the sword store sucked but I always thought he was terrible on the show too. A couple other parts were big misses but everything else was so damn funny to me. I was pretty glad they didn't waste time putting Patton Oswalt in the movie as well. I don't like when they bring in comics who try too hard to emulate Tim and Eric's style and fail.

Wow pretty interesting (and somewhat serious) interview with LA times.

"Right out of film school, we started timanderic.com as sort of a joke on a self-promotional thing," recalled Wareheim in January at the Sundance Film Festival, where the film premiered.

"It was just this idea of branding these two stupid idiots, which is kind of what we're doing in the movie," Wareheim added. "It's these two stupid guys that are friends and they're trying to get things done but they're delusional and idiotic."

Although the characters they play are obliviously shortsighted, naively guileless and just plain dopey, in person Wareheim and Heidecker are thoughtful, sensitive and earnest, qualities that inform the larger ideas lurking beneath the queasy surface of their comedy, which freely and frequently skewers consumer culture.

The NACA Challenge

I know the films better than Hoagie's Fortune

lmao what the hell

You know, I was seriously worried sick for about 6 months about whether they'd take the NACA or not. I'm really glad that they did. Deserved it. More of GAF should recognize this accomplishment.

I'll post some sales graphs once the taqutor finishes generating them. I've been crunching the numbers and I don't think they've made their bill back yet.

I should preface this by saying I've never really seen very much Tim and Eric stuff outside of a few youtube clips. I didn't like this movie all that much. It had some pretty hilarious moments, like
when Tim stole the guy's son
, but otherwise a lot of it fell flat for me and I was actually kind of bored half way through. I get the feeling that based on their fanbase their show is probably a lot funnier.

I'd say so. Being 11 minutes it's definitely a lot punchier.

I loved it. When is it out on Blu Ray or DOOVDE?!

That article is pretty good ammunition for the haters.

Any T&E connoisseurs, can anyone find the clip of Tommy Wiseau recounting his bad dream about making love to a woman in their one eye? Can't find it on Youtube anywhere, and forgot which episode.
