Titanfall Hype

Forgive me if a similar thread may have been created recently, but I wanted to get a few things off my chest. Titanfall is a game that's been making a lot of noise as of late, with multiple E3 awards and all manner of praise from gaming publications. I just don't see the real reason for the unanimous praise and enthusiasm for this title.

Why is everybody so excited about it?

I did until they decided to screw over a large amount of countries with no local servers.

Well it's a modern take on an arenashooter with a unique twist. Something new in midst of the Call of duties and the Battlefields.

Honestly I don't see it either but the mechs are interesting

Have you seen it?

I know that's reached meme levels but after seeing how fast and frenetic it is, I am super freaking hyped. It feels like a true next gen Call of Duty. It could be this gen's Modern Warfare.

People think it looks interesting.

It's ok not to be excited about something, but is it that hard to see why a fast paced multiplayer shooter with jet packs and mechs has people interested?

Looks incredibly fun from what I've seen.

It looked fun from the trailers but after seeing the alpha footage it looks like CoD with a slight Hawken twist and random bots affecting competitive multiplayer gameplay so I'm out until it hits a sale on PC.

So they basically make a game that is a combination of Brink, Mirror's Edge and Hawken, which suddenly results in everybody getting a hard on? Count me out, Tribes: Ascend looks more fun to play.

A few questions for you.

Do you enjoy competitive FPS?

Did you like CoD4? Are you aware of Titanfall's development origins?

Have you watching any impressions or videos?

Have you read any impressions from E3?

There's a unanimous backlash against the title wherever you go to as well.

Every forum out there is a post along the lines of "what is so good about Titanfall".

It is a game that some people think looks fun, and that is about it. It's getting notoriety because it's one of the first high profile 8th gen games and will be available on three platforms.

Sometimes I think that people who play FPS games are just in some alternate reality that I'll never understand. You show them a jetpack and a slightly adjusted control scheme and they act as though life as we know it will never be the same. I've learned to just let it go.

I've seen this thread made several times over the last few months. That being said the beta comes out very soon so you can soon discover your own answers to that question.

The Titanfall Anti-Hype Brigade that has sprouted up recently is as hilarious as it is sad.

The game looks incredibly fun, and that's all there is to it.

I didn't know there is hype around. Just media hype only got the attention to me.

The game looks fast, maybe the media like that, which they also really like COD.

BRB going to make an anti-hype thread for every big name game that I don't like because how dare others like something that I don't. Totally
not
serious.

It has been artificial hype, I can smell the EA moneyhats from here. But luckily the game looks like fun and genuinely entertaining.

It has mechs and it's made by the guy behind Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

So yeah, I'm hype as hell.

I play a lot of fps and I'm pretty disinterested. I like more competitive game play and the COD model is too casual. Sorry for using that word.

To me it's just another multiplayer shooter, but I'm looking forward to seeing if the hype is manufactured or not.

What is it about Titanfall that attracts so many "I don't get it" threads? It's very odd/interesting to me. I've never seen a game hyped up as much as or more than Titanfall get that comment or this many threads to this degree.
