Titanfall Hype

From the videos (I have not played it).
It seems fast and fluid like CoD, but less confining environments
More interesting theme (future sci-fi) than modern military
Free running movement for soldiers seems different and fun (hopefully better than brink)
Mechs are cool, but only because I am still capable to fight against them as a soldier
AI soldiers on each side means that I will be doing something other than run into fight and get shot.

It looks fun
 
I feel like the hype has come back down to a more realistic level now.

It's not the fever pitch it was at earlier on in the year, which hopefully means people will find more fun in it. There's no way to save people, if they're expecting gold-dust.
 
I am not hyped at all for this game. Movement looks nice, but I have a feeling it won't be as fun as people hype it out to be.

More games should have mechs though. Those things are always cool.

Probably because it's a multiplayer-only shooter.

I'm not really interested in Titanfall either, but it definitely does things differently than the onslaught of shooters on the market. The emphasis on player movement could potentially be huge. The MOBA styled AI changes things up too.
 
It just looks really, really fun, and the praise seems unanimous from the press to players of the alpha build.

You have parkour-elements mixed with mech-gameplay mixed with traditional FPS elements, and while it won't be the visual most stunning game, everything looks kind of coherent and oozes style. It's fast-paced, it has cool weapons and bunch of little details that create a promising looking package.

To me, it's the most interesting next-gen FPS game announced so far, and it's your good right to not be excited about it
 
How long do you think it will last? Of course there is going to ongoing development and additional content, but that will only take it so far.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm not overly excited about titanfall, but many have said it's really good so they can't all be wrong. I'm gonna buy it and give it a go but I'm skeptical to be honest.

No because they are only in charge of publishing. It's not their IP or their studio so they can't put the same pressure and restaints on Respawn as they did with DICE or Maxis. Microsoft probably has more say in the creative and technical decisions than EA does. The recent leaks have all come out of Microsoft and the game is running on Azure servers.

You know the game was hyped to death before the alpha right? It was crowned the next CoD since it was reveladed. I'm glad playable impressions have been good, but even before that Titanfall was being lauded as the next gen game.
 
After seeing the alpha footage I still don't get the hype. It really, truly does look like a COD mod or if COD went to the distant future like some rumors suggested a couple of years ago.

I still think it's mostly a combo of MS and EA's hype machines. Marketing can make people excited for just about anything if the campaign is designed intelligently enough.

no it's not.

everyone has customizable classes, and gets a free mech. how is that anywhere near what an arena shooter is?

It bothers plenty of people and will probably lead to the game

1.) being on Origin only
2.) having a season pass or some shit so you can get the overpriced map packs

but some people like myself are still excited for the title in spite of that.
 
Because its plays like COD(good thing) and makes some major changes to the formula with mechs and adds a double jump.
 
So tired of the bland yearly fps genre, Titanfall looks new and hip. I am ready for change.
 
Weird how many times this gets posted. I'm not hyped for it either but guess what? There's a ton of stuff in life that others enjoy that I don't. "I just don't see it" Well yeah, because you're not interested in it. That's literally how liking something works.

I thought it had 16 maps? I don't follow the game but there was a thread about it.
 
Some of the hype is really forced, but so is some of the hate.

I like the sense of speed and genuinely would love to play an FPS that feels competitive in a small-player environment. Games like Battlefield and Killzone are great, but I enjoy smaller games too, because the sense of competitive play can be just as fun.

I don't know if Titanfall will be THAT great-- we haven't seen many modes (and that's what I'm most curious about), but it certainly looks like a great pick-up-and-play shooter.

I agree, maybe not with the specific reason, but more that it's just a divisive title.

Also, being an exclusive, some people are ready to come crashing down on it - and others are ready to call it the second coming. It draws both extremes, which a multiplatform game wouldn't.

It's also very similar to CoD. I'd wager a divisive question on this forum would be 'Do you still like Call of Duty?'.

Many have got tired of it (and FPS games in general), whereas many still went out and bought Ghosts day one.
 
The positive press from everyone makes it sound like a sure thing and I quite liked the vertical movement and Titan drops but I was instantly turned off when I saw the most recent footage. I knew it was kinda similar to COD with more free movement and mechs but then we see the real XP UI and overload of your frigging awesome every second like COD and thought, yeah no thanks. Might be fun but I've had my fill of the XP nonsense.

I don't get it either. Microsoft just said when they unveiled it "THIS IS TITANFALL BE HYPED!!" and suddenly the gaming media is all like "OMG TITANFALL!!!".

I didn't think the original showing was even that impressive but the media bought into Microsofts hype, and the hype train was well on its way.
 
It looks like, "pick up and play mindless fun time". I can see why people might be excited, but the hype is way overblown. but they dont call it hype for nothing.

One thing i dont like is the bots, killing bots with massive amounts of auto aim, may aswel be shooting practice, although idk how much practice youd get from it, go back to a game like CSS and get your ass handed to you.

I watched some leaked gameplay of some dude going on a rampage, kill after kill. It looked so cool.. he was like the terminator. but how many of them kills were bots ?. This game is going to be playable by anyone, pick up and play getting kills instantly, instant gratification, get the kids hooked, makes lots of money, take down cod ?. At the very least it might force the cod series to evolve into something alittle more fresh.

Never seen such levels of manufactured hype, but thankfully yes, many people who played the Alpha speak very highly of it. Personally I've got doubts over the longevity of the game, but then I feel the same way about CoD. Modern Warfare was brilliant for a while, but before long I found it unbearable. The dawn of attention deficit gaming.

Then again I can be rather cynical at times, and have a dislike for Call Of Duty and a huge distrust of EA. Maybe it will be The Bestest Thing Evar and revolutionise gaming.

yeh I don't mean that, I just mean that people compete in it...I don't mean it's a pro esport, although it probably is but I don't follow that side of gaming
 
I also have no interest in it. I mean it looks fun but I've really gone off competitive FPS this past year. I'd rather play something like Division or possibly Destiny.
