Titanfall PC Performance Thread

I find that the performance is really inconsistent. One day, the game runs fine and then the next day I play, it stutters and locks up for a few seconds.

Intel i5 2500k @ 3.3
8GB Ram
HD 6850 1GB

1080p
textures at medium
everything else on high
v-sync

I'm having the same lock up thing. It's getting REALLY annoying :/

I just can't get it stable at 60fps. Playing on a X51 with an i7 3.4 and the 1.5GB Nvidia card 660(?). Won't keep a steady framerate

Have the same desktop setup here, can't even put shadows on medium (don't see a difference between low and medium anyway) without my framerate dropping from 60 to 23, guess you're lucky?

This was taken while running around the map and engaging in light combat:

Note: This is just for benchmarking. The game isn't playable with vsync enabled due to the artifacting

Playing on my laptop with:
Intel i7 3520 at 2.9 GHz
4gb RAM
Nvidia NVS 5200M

Have played with settings all the way from my native resolution of 1600x900 to 1024x768 with everything turned to low or off and still can only get about 30 fps on average during matches. I already checked in Nvidia Control Panel and ensured that Titanfall should be utilizing my GPU and not using the integrated card on my laptop.

Any tips? I wasn't exactly expecting to push incredible graphics out of this thing, but I can play games like FIFA 14 and NBA 2k14 at 60 fps with pretty good image quality, so figured if nothing else I'd be able to push out 60 fps on this game, even if my settings were at low.

Edit: I also followed the steps from that PC Gamer link to unpark my cores and turned off Vsync. Didn't seem to make much difference.

I wish I could help, man. Maybe the bump will get this noticed.

I'm trying to squeeze blood from a stone with a graphics card that, from what I gather, is generally comparable to yours (both ranked a 4 at game-debate.com). It ain't easy. If you followed that guide and you keep your PC clean, that may be about all you can do. I run Razer Game Booster, but I doubt that's making any meaningful difference.

My hope now is that Respawn will optimize the game a little in a patch, and maybe allow me to force a lower resolution in the visual configuration file. If I could drop the res just a bit more, it wouldn't bother me on the smaller screens in my house, and it would almost certainly put me close enough to a steady 30 to satisfy me until my next upgrade.

I was having similar issues and here's what helped me immensely:

Go to Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings tab (second tab on the right) > Select/Add TitanFall, scroll down to Power management Mode and set it to Prefer maximum performance

That right there was a night and day difference for me. Not sure if it will work for you but it's worth a try. The next thing that finished off my tweak and was a tremendous help in locking down 60 FPS for me was unparking my cores using the application in this Tweak Guide:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/03/15/t...best-settings-to-maximize-your-effectiveness/

It's extremely simple to use and made a world of difference. Anyone who hasn't tried it and are running multiple cores should look into that. Titanfall/Source games are extremely CPU dependent, so unparking the cores Windows for some reason keeps parked is really good for games like Titanfall.

I did both of these and have also noticed smoother gameplay. ill try running fraps soon to see how big of a boost i got, but this has made things much nicer.

EDIT: for clarification, you just open up the tool and click ''disable'', no?

i5
7950
8 gig ram
1080p

i put textures to high and shadow to medium everything else maxed, doin about the same as most 60 mostly and random drops to 40 and 50 mainly when in a titan sometimes 30 id guess, hoping for some optimization patches down the road.

I swear I noticed an FPS increase after disabling CPU parking. Maybe I'm crazy but it is stuttering way more now. This game is a mess performance wise.

i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
16GB RAM
GTX 660 Ti

I've had nothing but issues since the release in regards to stuttering. My frames seem to be stable for the most part, but the micro-stuttering is unbelievably bad. It's especially annoying during combat whilst aiming down sights and quick one on one battles, as it's pretty much akin to lag.

I've tried every recommendation under the sun, everything on low, shadows off, turning off Vsync, enabling adaptive, both at the same time, changing the refresh rate and so on, nothing works and it's really frustrating as stuttering is the last thing you want in a competitive FPS. I've read that it's maybe a CPU issue but I don't know what to think.

I've never had this issue with any other game and I can usually handle most games on their highest settings. The beta ran as smooth as anything but this final version seems unoptimized and I really hope it's addressed in a patch. Anyone else have it as bad as me? I know I'm not the only one but it's really beginning to ruin what is otherwise a fun game.

I'm getting some really inconsistent performance from this game and its driving me crazy. Im running it on a OC GTX 780 and some days i get perfect 60 fps, like im talking not a single hitch and on other days i get all kinds of stuttering. Is it possible this is due to the servers. I noticed it was bad last night during peak hours and it was perfect on sunday in the afternoon. anyone else experiencing this?

I5 4200m
755m sli
6 gb ram

1080p
Settings on high

Frame rates from 30-60fps

I need an sli profile for this thing.. When it's smooth it's buttahhhh

4770k @ Stock speed
Corsair Vengence 12GB DDR3 1600mhz
Powercolor R9 290 PCS+
Got game installed on a Western Digital Black 2TB

Got it maxed other then MSAAx4 and got 60fps at 1920x1080p even while streaming 720@60fps on twitch

i7 2600k
8gb ram
gtx660
vsync enabled via the nvidia control panel

@ 1080p with everything on high and no aa i get anywhere between 40 - 60fps. more often 40 than 60.

@ 720p with everything on high, textures on very high and 4x msaa i'm getting 60fps 90% of the time with drops to 50 during really hectic moments.

i'm finding i'm not really enjoying it at 1080p with the constant frame drops but really enjoying it at 720. yes it's a lower res but add in the 4x msaa and it's pretty decent.

Success! I'm getting pretty good performance on my laptop now.

Changing the power management settings in the Nvidia control panel from adaptive to high performance gave me a huge boost in FPS.

Getting a solid 60fps now with minimal drops to 45fps.

Specs and My settings below..

4th gen Intel Core i7 (2.40ghz 1600Mhz 6mb)

Nvidia GeForce GT755m GDDR5 2gb

Hey, sorry to sort of just randomly bump, but I'm looking at splashing out for Titanfall and I'm just wondering if it'll have okay performance on my rig. It's getting a bit long in the tooth as far as CPU is concerned and I know Source is CPU-heavy.

i5 750 2.67GHz
8GB RAM
660 EVGA Superclocked Edition

EDIT: My monitor is only 900p so I'll be running at native.

It's interesting reading about the VRAM issues with Titanfall. I'm trying to decide on a card and at this point I have to go with a minimum of 3gb VRAM The GTX 770 4gb or the GTX 780 3gb. I know the 780 is clearly a better card but is 3gb enough? Is Titanfall a poorly optimized game or is this going to be a trend moving forward? Cause the 780 is useless if it's limited by VRAM in the future

If you only want NVidia, get the fastest 770 4GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...30348 600451260 600007787&IsNodeId=1&name=4GB) and overclock it to 780 levels and beyond.

Although I thought I solved my problem with the Vsync using Radeon Pro that now seems to make the crash with Forced Vsync on. Any one know if a patch has been released stopping this?

Also why doesn't d3doverider not work!?

Has the developer made any official comment on the time frame for fixing SLI in the game? I would really have regretted buying this game if I wasn't so busy playing Dark Souls 2.

OCd 680 2gb

i5 2500k at 4.5ghz

Everything on the highest except not insane textures and shadows on low. It runs mostly at a constant 60 frames per second, except in some maps where I get drops to the 40s

certainly badly optimized considering how it looks, but at least it's playable for me so far

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k @ 3.40 GHz (overclocked)
8GB RAM
2x GTX 670 SLI
BenQ 144Hz Monitor
OS: Windows 7 64 bit SP1

This game runs like feces.
If I choose to disable V-Sync, it locks my framerate to 60FPS (WHAT?!)
If I choose to enable V-Sync, it UNLOCKS my framerate, but I get severe framestutters.
Figure that one out, it makes no sense. Also tripple buffering disappeared, did they remove that option?

Running latest Nvidia beta drivers, have tried with the latest stable drivers, no difference.
Game will go down to 35-40 FPS if too much is happening on screen with almost all graphics options turned all the way down.

No recording software like Fraps, Shadow Play or DxTory is enabled.
Playing 60, and sometimes sub-60 is a real pain in the butt on a 144Hz monitor.

I just happened to google what people are considering good drivers, and a lot of people have mentioned 314.22s. I gave those a shot, and it's running a lot better. Yeah, there's a bit of vertical tearing with vsync off, but the stuttering is next to gone.

Really? I'll try those out. Thanks a lot man.

Tonight I reverted to some older drivers (320.49) for an older laptop card (nVidia GT 330m) and noticed an improvement in frame rate. The new "Titanfall" drivers aren't everybody's best solution.

I think the stuttering and locking is down to latency. When I was playing on US servers before release it would freeze for a second or so randomly, but after playing on European ones with a ms of 32, it runs fine.

Yeah, it might sound stupid to even suggest, but I found I got much better performance by restarting my router. Seriously, a lot of lag and stuttering issues disappeared once I did this. If you live in a house where your router is never turned off, give this a try.

Has anything changed since the last time for performance? I find that performance is also rather inconsistent. I'm on an i5 1500K, GTX 650 at 1920x1080 with the latest drivers. It seems my average is about 30-45 frames with everything on low.

Alienware X51
i7 3770
Gtx 660

Running at 1920x1200 with everything on high except textures on insane and AA set of 2xMSAA getting 45-60 fps very happy with the performance :)

Thread necro, I'm sorry. Anyone with 970 SLI or comparable playing this game right now? It's a butter 60 fps 99% of the time but I get occasional drops to 55-58 fps..... wondering if it's VRAM related? I'll test with lower texture resolution later today.... it's not a gpu related slowdown, as there is plenty of room to spare.... cpu shouldn't be an issue I'd think... i7-3820 @ 4.3 ghz... core parking disabled as well........
