Today I learned that White People never, ever, ever eat Salsa.

Who fucking likes ketchup on anything other than fries, anyway? Salsa is obviously better and more universally applicable...and now more people are figuring that out, though they're probably eating shitty fast food billing itself as authentic Mexican.

Whoa, hold your horses partner. Salsa is good, but don't be hating on ketchup to prop up salsa. I love both condiments.

So good. I have no idea as to the authenticity of this Mrs. Renfro, but god damn does she make a delicious, spicy salsa.

Great salsa brand, the mango habanero is great. This one though is inedible alone, it was so hot I couldn't do more than one or two chips lightly dipped. I kept it, but started adding it to things that need to be spiced up like chili or taco meat.

I'm going to clue all of you in on a secret.

This is the greatest recipe for restaurant quality salsa ever.

"But Zodzilla!" you exclaim, "That recipe doesn't have any fresh tomatoes!"

Doesn't matter. It's effing crazy delicious and fresh tasting. My gf and I eat this stuff by the pound and it makes enough for 3 jars full. The entire recipe takes 5 minutes to make the best damn salsa you've ever eaten ever.

Seriously, if you don't believe me, make some yourself and then come back here and tell me that I've made a mistake.

Do the xenophobes that lament the rise of salsa ever stop to consider that it sells more than ketchup because people use a lot more salsa when they're eating it? I doubt it. I've never killed even a half bottle of ketchup on a single serving of anything before, but can devour most of a jar of salsa with one basket of chips.

Ha, I thought so, too, at first, but you just need to keep soldiering on through the pain! Once you get over the heat, it becomes so delicious.

This too.

I have ketchup in my fridge that's probably been in there for a whole year. I'll go through a jar of salsa a night.

I'm going to try this over the weekend. Hope it delivers!

I loved ketchup as a kid, but I only put it on burgers now, and sometimes fries. Just too sweet.

I'm as white as can be, but I love me some salsa. So good. I usually go with Green Mountain Gringo if I buy at the store, but 95% of the time, I make my own.

So easy, and so good:
3ish tomatoes
1/2 red onion
2 jalapeños
Cilantro
Little bit of seasoning salt
Lime juice

Mix up and let sit for a little bit to let the spice from the peppers sink in.

I usually just chop everything up, but if you have a food processor, you can make more of the dip style.

Thanks, I'll give this a try.

Except store bought salsas are becoming bland and less spicy by the day, damn you white people!

Once I experienced this firsthand, it annoyed me like crazy. Kroger has like 20 types of mild and mediums salsa, and not a single normal hot salsa. What is this garbage. No, I do not want spicy peach salsa, just something plain. Is that so much to ask? It's like having ketchup without salt in it.

My sister likes ketchup on her white rice.

Naturally, us being a Puerto Rican family, we all stare in disbelief every time she does it.

Actually, when I remember growing up poor, I do remember doing that, too, when the pantry was looking pretty lean. It's okay in the interests of variety, but shouldn't be encouraged. haha I'm a half-white, half-Asian, but I do love love love New Mexican food, which is more or less colonial Spanish standards crossbred with Native foods and, occasionally, American inventions. New Mexicans love salsa.

Nah, man. See, ketchup could disappear tomorrow and I bet that the world would go on just fine. Salsa disappearing would fuck the universe pretty hard. So, glad it's there wasting space in the fridge, but it might as well be forgotten until fried potato matter or the occasional meatloaf meal is involved. No, really, I'm not against ketchup...but it has only so many uses compared to salsa.

What is this?? Canned tomatoes??? No sir..

This is what you do,

4-6 medium to large tomatoes
2 jalapeños
1 Serrano
1/2 habanero

Throw them all on the grill until they char on all sides

Dice up onion
Roughly Chop up cilantro

When tomatoes, peppers are done throw them into a blender (don't peel skin off anything)
Add salt, pepper, 1 clove garlic, a squeeze of fresh lime, and a teaspoon honey/sugar and blend.

Pour out salsa and throw into a bowl, add cilantro, onions, and mix together

Put In the fridge to cool off.

Then you can enjoy authentic salsa, no canned stuff

This is exactly what I said when I was initially presented with this recipe, but I was proven wrong. It really is as close to restaurant quality salsa as you can get. I'll totally try out your salsa though and will get back to you with a comparison.

I used to make fresh Pico de Gallo, but this salsa recipe still blows it away in terms of flavor.

I just checked out their site, had no idea they made a nacho cheese version.

Gotta try this.

FWIW I found it really disappointing. The cheese wasn't great and it wasn't better than like, making your own with cheese and Mrs. Renfros.

Now Mango Habanero Renfros, cream cheese, and Xtra Hot Franks? Now you're talking.
