I mean, they'll do a good job, but Istanbul would have been more interesting. Plus just attending the Tokyo Olympics sounds nightmarish and claustrophobic. And I know the stuff I think should represent Japan as a nation (Haruomi Hosono, Shibuya-kei, Haruki Kadokawa, lol) won't feature in the ceremonies. The scenery will kick-ass!

I don't want any idol promotion and such for the opening ceremony. It's not my thing, though I can understand why it would appeal for the occasion.

Not to forget, Tokyo's got way too much importance in the media compared to Osaka, Kyoto, &c. It'd be nice for a Japanese Olympiad to take place somewhere else for a change.

On the plus side, maybe Criterion will put out a Blu of Tokyo Olympiad. It's only one of their most expensive out-of-print DVDs.

I live within the heritage circle, about 20 minutes from the Yoyogi Olympic Stadium. If I'm still here at that time... place is going to be swamped with tourists.

Yeah, they'll probably pick Sakamoto again. I'm very tired of seeing him become the country's musical ambassador when Hosono's done as wide an array of music as possible.
The only solution is to reunite Yellow Magic Orchestra for this special event, assuming Hosono doesn't die (he's the oldest and the founder).
