Tomb Raider E3 Gameplay Trailer - March 5, 2013 release date

Looks fucking disgusting to me.
Scripted shit all over.
FULL of people, kidnappers, survivors, fucking people everywhere (goodbye sense of isolation and loneliness).
Bullet-time and even more scripted bullshit all over.
Awful voice acting.

The only good part was that snippet of her hunting the deer with the bow, what the hell is this? Is one thing to reboot, is another to completely shit on everything that made the series interesting, keeping only the idiotic elements (Like Venice in TR2, shoot down the Venice mafia).
They even had the balls to close with "i hate tombs", yeah, that's why i'm going bullet time on armed kidnappers to save my friends, instead of exploring mysterious shit alone?
--
Sorry for the outrage, i'll wait for the Microsoft conference with a little bit of hope, but so far i'm fucking disappointed, UGH.

I'd hate tombs if I were shipwrecked on a mysterious and creepy island filled with rapist murdering kidnappers and fucked up whacked out cultists, huge fucking wolves, and probably some sort of supernatural horror out there in the woods.

Fuck man.

Joel is that you?

They need to release a demo to clear all of this up.

It's ironic but they've really gone and copied Uncharted... which original copied Tomb Raider in a lot of ways.
Yea, I agree. I was hoping they went for something a bit more realistic. The last bit in the trailer made me chuckle a bit. Looks straight out of Uncharted.

Still, it looks to be a good game.

Disliked the voice. Looked really stiff. QTE's/"interactive cutscenes" out the ass. Looks like an Uncharted clone like others have said. Not much on the puzzle front it looks but too early to call.

Could go either way I think.

Yeah, that trailer felt like something from Uncharted. Still have high hopes for Monday though. I think it'll show better in a demo rather than a trailer featuring set pieces and terrible voice acting.

I don't like all those people on the island. I just want to be left alone in the wilderness, shooting at shit with my bow. :(

i highly doubt that any of the set pieces will ever reach the heights of uncharted.

graphics and atmosphere looked pretty good, but apart from that i saw nothing in this trailer that would push me to the purchase it.

God the feeling up/presumable attempted rape thing is so awkward. Video games are bad enough at approaching sex as a theme in general as is without bringing up even tougher themes like that. It just feels like a tired emotional wedge to covey OH NO DANGER AND SHE'S A WOMAN.

The TR trilogy by CrystalD and the downloadable title all had really good level design for the platforming/exploration areas, even though the levels were pretty much linear. Hopefully they'll demo a glimpse of that at E3, rather than QTE/set-piece moments.

As for the trailer, the animation doesn't look too hot. "Janky" and "Stiff" is what comes to mind. This includes the facial expressions and lip sync too.

I had to see it again to get my thoughts in order. Honestly, it was a lot to take in.

Was I impressed? No. I've seen stuff like this before in other games so it's hard to be impressed knowing what to expect.

I did like what I saw. It looks like the majority of the stuff we see is in the prologue or the first few hours. The tiny segment of melee fighting it shows looks like it's taking place in a wholly different area and she's using some kind of axe maybe?

I'm interested in seeing the open world stuff to see how all the mechanics are going to blend. Also, I really like the image of Lara all covered in blood. If they're going to go for a survival story, I want to see the protag get messed up.

Can't wait to see more.

The game looks a lot more vicious than Uncharted. I actually really like that. I want a gritty, dark, supernatural horror tinged adventure tale. Hope the kidnappers are just an Act 1 villain or something.

Hunting in the wilderness looked interesting.

Fuck man.

You're not Lara Croft, she used to go LOOK for that shit, mang.

I hope i do a 180° on this, like i did on Max Payne, but i'm not confident, not.one.bit.

Jesus i can't rationalize the shit i've seen, with what drove me to TOMB RAIDER in the first place, goddamnit.

Well, it's an origin story, right? So that desire for adventure must somehow... develop in her. Hopefully whatever journey she undertakes in this game is the impetus for continuing along that path.

Though getting shipwrecked and nearly murdered multiple times is not the best way to instill a sense of adventure in someone.

I think they've said in the past it is half tightly scripted stuff and half open world.
Then they are clearly forgetting to show off half of the features in these trailers.

Beside, I get it: this is supposed to be the young and inexperienced Lara, but is there a single moment in the whole game where she's not weeping, screaming or bleeding, if not all the above?
Cause it starts to look like some misogynist/sadist wet dream.

Apart from that, can't say I care for "character integrity", as the original the original has always been a very poor character.

Kinda wish it didn't have the twinge of being an origin story

I mean, you can reboot without being an origin story, right?

I was digging the reveal last year, but this time it just seems depressing. It seems like it was constantly just Lara being mercilessly injured, I know the other one was too, but I guess I always just kind of assumed that just a small part of the game... if this trailer is representative, then it just doesn't stop. I'm not really squeamish... but ugh, the shock value quits being interesting after a while.

Maybe that's just what the trailer highlights, or maybe I'm just tired. Definitely not feeling it this time around though.

Really impressed with how this looks. This is the first Tomb Raider game I've wanted to play since uh...PS1? Can't wait to see more of this. Bow and Arrow looks awesome.

Jesus christ SE, between this and the Hitman trailer, it's been a good week for women being brutalized. Smh.

Game looks interesting. I really hope it's not a scripted event free for all.

The trailer felt like they decided to ape a bunch of games in the last couple of years, going for that linear cinematic experience with a bunch of "mash that button" QTEs, but they just seemed to not able to pull things off as well, and for all the wrong reasons.

I'm actually extremely impressed. The trailer itself was amazing, but it could use some actual GAMEPLAY. I liked what I saw with the bow and arrow.

Man I dont know. Character animation looks pretty bad and I cant get over that whiny voice.

Will she say "sorry" everytime I shoot an arrow through an animal or something?

they are really trying to kill my hype for this thing

Yeah, what crap was that?!

Is this game supposed to be before Lara became a explorer, she's way to whiny and doesn't at all show the courage and strong character personality of the old games :(

Lots of scripted scenes and by the looks of it also QTE's interactions like the gun struggling fight with that one guy, just what I wanted in a Lara Croft game! Uncharted look out you have competition now.

I like what I saw now as opposed to the one from a week or so back. I also don't think anyone should be shocked if this game ends up having a lot of scripted scenes.
