france, UK, have less inhabitants but they do buy more videogames. what is wrong in germany?

I remember my best Friend telling me that there were a lot of people at the Farming-Simulator-Booth last year at Gamescom. It seems like a fight did happen or did almost happen, anyway people were on the Edge about the stuff they got there (don't ask me what, i forgot it)

So yeah, Farming-Simulator is hot stuff in Germany. And people here LOVE their Fifa Games. I'm not suprised that the PS4-Version came out on the Top. People i know bought the console for Fifa 14/15.

And Tomodachi Life's success is no suprise to me either. There are still a lot of Ads to that Game on the Networks for Kids. Most people think of the Game as something between the Sims and Animal Crossing, both Games that are very loved here, so Nintendo did something right here.

Except Madden in America is just for fifty year old dads and teenage boys. Madden isn't a phenomenon in America. Unless it's regionally popular. Is Madden huge in the south or something?

I live in New England and I haven't seen a Madden game since my friend's divorced dad was showing off his PS2.

Only GTA or CoD (in its best days and only in UK) can beat FIFA in europe. This is no german phenomenon. FIFA has gotten a lot more popular in the last years. I think with 12 the numbers started to explode.
There is also Fifa Manager missing this year, because EA canceled the series and they still prevent to sell Football Manager here.

FIFA is mainstream. You don't ask "do you know FIFA?", instead it's "wanna play some FIFA?". For me personally FIFA exploded during the EyeToy and SingStar days. We would have parties at friends and every household had a PS2 with SingStar, EyeToy and FIFA.

Yeah, I thought everyone knew FIFA was an institution.

Some people purchase consoles just to play football. It's their FIFA-machine, where the only new software it sees is when the next FIFA game is released.

It's really no different than many casual gamers in the States who own dedicated Madden-machines or CoD-machines.

Heck, FIFA is even making huge strides in the good old USA. Charting regularly in NPD. So it's not even exclusively a Euro/South American thing.

As someone living in Germany: XBO numbers aren't surprising at all. I guess you have to live over here to understand how non-exisiting the Xbox One was for the majority of the year. While PS4 was more like an urban legend (You saw one in retail, just like that? I don't believe you!) there were towers of Xbox Ones that no one wanted to buy.

But with all those discounts things seem to get better. Slowly but steadily.

Not just first, but only entry I can see. Damned shame, and totally undeserving, it's bombing because of the game before, shit marketing, and being tied to the wrong console. Hopefully this doesn't kill off the only decent thing Biowares done in years.

Very impressed by Tomadachi though. Although in the land of the simulators, I can understand it finding a big audience.

I just hope EA give it another chance and make amends for their marketing mistakes with the next game. Partnering with MS was a mistake, releasing in October was a mistake, and they needed to market it a bit more. Although I liked that advert with Lindsey Sterling on her violin, it was a bit too pretentious and didn't even show any of the gameplay.

I don't know the numbers, but I can imagine that the strength of PC in Germany plays a role in this. These numbers seem to be retail sales, while most of the PC market is digital these days. Taking this into account the German market might match the UK/FR market, which seem to be more console focused. Might be wrong though, just a guess

Pro Evolution Soccer franchise is totally done. Konami still had a last chance with the arrival of the new generation of consoles, unfortunately for them, that ship already sailed.

This year barely made it into the top 100, that's worse than last year.
