Way better than the last new car party they had. That was hilarious.

And I love the Astra, screw the haters. Wish it had been available in the US for more than a year.

Lotta respect for Warwick Davies there. If Life's Too Short hadn't already proved it, the man's a terrific sport. Perfectly respectable time, too.

They constantly rip Vauxhall for being boring, basic, and having terrible understeer. I don't understand why they picked it

Funny stuff so far though. It's a good start to the series. Any idea when it'll be on iTunes? Hopefully it'll be uncensored like the last season

I remember one Astra they liked but it still had under-steer iirc and they still recommended something else. Was it a Renault instead? I can't remember

Those helicopter shots of the beach, man.

Top Gear still has the best photography in the world.

For years, this show has had some of the finest cinematography and camera work. The show is massively under-rated in this area. It is a beautiful show at times.

Those crashes and the thing is still going?

I liked the "Oh no, I've lost control of the car, gone off the road and down a hill and I don't know where the road is or where I'm going!", yet the camera car still managed to keep taking panning shots all around it, including lots of perfectly framed shots from the front.

There was also a lovely moment where he hit a bump and tore part of the bumper off the car, but it was magically re-attached for the rest of the segment until he reached the rental place.

Luckily I saw this thread and found a stream.

...I should go back and watch the first 19 seasons. I've only watched bits and pieces.

I wonder how much flack they're going to catch for the Warwick Davies stuff tomorrow.

Wouldn't be a new series of Top Gear without some tarted-up controversy to go with it.

James earned that one.

Gave him "a face like a prostitutes front door" though

lol

Ron Howard is on next week:

Jeremy Clarkson gets behind the wheel of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, sampling the punch of its 730bhp V12 engine on the open roads of Scotland. Richard Hammond harnesses the power of motorsport on a quest to find the world's best taxi, and James May pays tribute to the former BBC Television Centre in White City, London, using a motorcyclist and a pair of parkour runners. Plus, the BAC Mono - an astonishingly fast car with just one seat - is put through its paces on the test track, and film director Ron Howard goes for a spin in the new Reasonably Priced Car.

Back to the topic of song changes and licensing, I was bored and queued up the Vietnam Special on Netflix....

BBCA had to change "Born in the USA" for the backup bike song to a generic instumental National Anthem.

USA, can't use Born in the USA.

Hmmmm that's not how I remember it on netflix.

I seem to remember it being "Born in the USA" at one point as well, but not now.

I think Netflix has changed to the BBCA versions, and they used to air BBC originals. I also seem to remember them using the A-Team theme for "...and cued the music" and now it's some generic jingle.

I just checked the Top Gear Vietnam episode on Netflix USA and it has the American national anthem instead of Born In The USA. It's horribly dubbed over the top too. What a mess
