Transformers War for Cybertron Multiplayer Demo on XBLM Now

Anyone else think that this could possibly follow in Batman: AA's footsteps as a great unexpected game?

No but I do really think it's following the PS2 games footsteps as a totally awesome Transformers game.

Yeah i'm having more fun as a scout. Nothing beats being chased down by 2 soldiers after helping cap a node, then barrel rolling out a window and blasting off :lol

My hammer beats it, constantly until you explode!

I believe the developer said that was their goal, which means it won't be as good as Batman AA.

I do but I thought Batman was good not great but I have high hope this will be great, I can't wait to get it.

Did not know this.

Neither did I... the demo is ~800MB so if we assumed it was downloaded by 2M PSN users, it would cost Activision about $250K just for the "privelage" of giving PS3 owners a demo.

Now, that seems like a lot, but you can even take this a step further. Assuming the publisher gets $30 per retail sale, they would need to sell ~8.4K copies of the game to pay for the bill. Out of the 2M downloads, that means Activision needs a 1/2% conversion rate.

For a game like this, that's a safe bet. I take that to mean that the Sony fee was not prohibitive to them providing the demo. In this case, there was likely some moneyhats involved.

I'm not even going to bother asking where you pulled those numbers for bandwidth costs. But why would MS pay Activision anything for a demo when the game will probably sell more on the 360 anyway?

The numbers are from the MTV link. It shows actual costs per GB ($.16) that Sony charges. I could see MS paying for a demo simply for business reasons. They likely see a percentage of silver subscribers turn to gold subscribers just to play the demo. Of course there is also benefit to being able to say "Only on Xbox"... it is certainly more difficult to measure, but mindshare is a huge benefit.

Obviously MS has also established partnerships with Activision for timed exclusive DLC. The demo is likely part of a larger "package" deal.

I am destroying at this game, I have been going 15+/0 for some time now....people need to learn you dont fuck with a man that has a shotgun and a sword that can also tun invisible and into a car with machine guns :lol :lol

Second.

Game is awesome. But I reached level 3 already. They should of opened all the classes.

Best song to listen to while playing I realized though is the Transformers theme.

damn u guys were right!

this demo is insanely fun and i may decide to pick this up now

also im telling everyone on my friends list to get the demo :D

Yeah, I reached level 3 with both classes in only one game each. They definitely should have gone a bit more carrot-on-a-stick with this demo to give it a bit more longevity.

...Said the man who played this game for at least 4 hours today...

This game is going to reach insane levels once all classes are available. I'm guessing the other two are a jet and a kind of supply carrier?

I LOVE THIS GAME.

Wow, so fun. I can't wait until there's big ass Leaders and flying Scientists (that'll be me - Warhawk baby!)

Cannot wait.

Who here is getting it for the PS3?

Just played a quick game of Conquest (by far my favorite mode in most MP games) and it was pretty fun.

Gunplay was good, although learning what weapons are effective and what kills who and such will take a little time. I swear I shot a guy a ton of times in the head and melee'd him and he just did some spinny shit and dropped me.

Can't really tell what's going on when a bunch of people are onscreen ... not because of slowdown or anything but everything looks the same; walls, robots, vehicles ... I'm talking color of course. Hopefully we'll see some more variation but it is Cybertron after all :lol

It sure as hell got me more excited for the SP though ... I really hope they pull it off with a decent story and such. I've read too many previews of licensed games that turn out to be shit to really get my hopes up, especially $60 hopes.

In retail it seems like you'll be able to customize colors and different body parts.

I thought I remembered from an interview that they said you would be able to "build your own robot."

Don't hold me to that though.

There is in retail. You can change color and chassis. For example the Bumblebee chassis in the Demo but you can choose other body types in retail.

It's funny, when xbox games go to pc, ps3 fans declare xbox shitty because "I can buy all their games on pc anyways' but when the games are actually exclusive, it's stupid.

Xbox can't catch a break.

yeah of course Xbox can't catch a break because it does't need it but it's exactly the same thing if a game or something is PS3 exclusive than it's the same complaints from xbox fans. it's a never ending circle.

Holy shit this game is amazing, I was already really hyped but yeah after playing that its a sure day 1 buy with no doubt. Scout>Soldier, but soldier's melee is viscous and satisfying. The level is kind of ugly, even in 1080p, while the models are very nice. Oh and top notch sound effects and animations.

The game runs in 1080p on Xbox? If so hopefully the PS3 version does as well.

Scout is definitely much better at this point in the game - but the Soldier gets some badass upgrades, especially for the Whirlwind at higher levels.

I really can't wait to see the Leader.

Seems pretty full featured in the retail version. 3p co-op campaign, Escalation (horde/firefight mode) and a decent amount of normal MP.

And sounds like most of the Transformers have their classic VAs, or close to them.

Can you not invite friends at all?
Not in the party lobby. You can see that it's locked out for the demo, which is pretty stupid. You can invite friends after you join a game though, granted it isn't full.

Describe my experience earlier to a friend:

11:19:31 PM) tokubetsuex: lol
(11:19:37 PM) tokubetsuex: Earlier what I was trying to tell you is
(11:19:58 PM) tokubetsuex: I was playing to Stan Bush's "Dare" and right when the chorus kicks in, the part where he just yells DARE!
(11:20:08 PM) tokubetsuex: I transformed on the hill overpass thing in conquest mode
(11:20:19 PM) tokubetsuex: and got a 4 kill streak to the entire chorus
(11:20:22 PM) tokubetsuex: then capped the node
(11:20:27 PM) tokubetsuex: It was beautiful
(11:20:31 PM) tokubetsuex: and I had to change my pants
11:22:06 PM) tokubetsuex: Dare!
(11:22:07 PM) tokubetsuex: dare to believe you can surviiiiiiiiiiiive

First team deathmatch i tried was killed by massive lag, next one was fine. Also tried a conquest:

Verdict: The Molten level is a bit cramped but i had a lot of fun.

I was worried about this game being a HUGE TF fan, but I have to say I am impressed. The game controls well although floating vehicles do not turn as sharp as I would like and the hall ways width is a bit small, as I run into and can get stuck behind other players. The graphics are good, and I really dig the design and over aesthetic. The shooting game play is solid and better than expected - it plays well. Transforming is quick, fast, and awesome, although they need to include the G1 sound effect, not just the one from the new movies. While I do like the new movie transformation sound effect, I prefer the original, so being able to choose would be preferred. In addition, having Peter Cullen's voice seals the deal, its just to good when he tells me to defend node A :lol. Very impressed.

I'm only interested in the single player, but I tried the demo just to get a feel for how the game looks and plays. The combat seems decent but the explosions are just pathetic, especially for a game where you're going to spend a whole lot of time blowing things up. No sense of heat, intensity or force.

Scout is ridiculous, yeah so I can turn almost completely invisible and run from any fight that I don't feel I have the advantage? Pretty sweet if you ask me. Did a whole lot of ganking tonight.

I was very surprised with how polished the MP was.

Seriously. For the most part, it's lag free, great hit detection, nice animations, etc. All around very solid experience. Came out of nowhere for me.

I was hoping the game would be good and barring some horrible mission structure in the campaign mode, this game could be a diamond in the rough.

Had a fun time playing the multiplayer demo, looking forward to the game coming out later this month.

after initially being irritated about the nature of multiplayer demos (what I really wanted was a SP demo), I did play a few rounds just now and I think it's pretty fun based on what's available in the demo. I really do look forward to checking out the full game now.

I tried both classes and my initial impression is that the cloak is a bit overpowered.. but we'll see.

As long as you keep mobile, you can possible survive a cloaked scout under the right circumstances. Scout v Scout? Invis wars if you can speed away. Soldier? whirlwind or drop an ammo beacon and let loose.

I just hope aircraft transformers control as well as the ground based ones do.

If you're paying attention, cloak is easy to spot. Both classes have weapons that can drill into cloakers at short range.

I would also like to say thanks for putting in a optional region filter, makes peer2peer online a much better experience.
