Transformers War for Cybertron Multiplayer Demo on XBLM Now

The game plays pretty well, I think I'll pick it up on Day 1 since Wal-Mart (in Canada) is going to be selling it for $39.99.

Ok the game is great, BUT THE NETCODE IS FUCKING TRASH OMG!!

Fucking terrible. "Disconected from host" over and over and over and fucking over. Random desynchs in the game with the little white network icon with a red cross on it. Just fucking lame.

Today I was on a 12 killstreak and I got disconected. I raged hard. Completely retarted. Fix this shit high moon seriously ffs.

/rant

Netcode seems fine when a person with a good connection is chosen as the host.

Haven't had any lag problems.

Lucky bastard:D

Though I have had several great games in a row, there are times when I have had to wait like 10-15 mins because I keep disconnecting from host, only to finally get in a game and have it be laggy as hell.

But that is far more rare the the good to great running games so far.

19 kills 0 deaths in conquest. :lol This game is ridiculous since no one knows much right now and scout at rank 3 can just backstab and get free kills. I love it so.

I'm really starting to dig the soldier class right now. The hover ability is terrible. At first I hated it but after swapping that one out for the ammo/damage perk it's much, much better.

After spending more time with it and learning the ins and outs, I can say this is definitely a great great game. At least multiplayer wise. It really makes you feel like a blazing hunk of pain bringing, shapeshifting steel.

Yeah I'm not sure why anyone would use hover. I guess in some situations when you're on the same plane as another person, hovering up to gain elevation would give you the advantage provided the other 4 enemies aren't already lining you up in their sights for an easy kill.

I do the best with the Scout though. Dash + Invisibility is amazing. Plus I love the sniper, the scatter blaster, and even the neutron pistol is very powerful.

I wish they had the killstreaks available for the Scout and Soldier. I can't imagine how killstreaks are going to alter the flow of the game.

I love the scatter blaster but holy crap do I hate the sniper. It seems so slow.

If there's a single critique I can come up with it's this. There's quite a bit of noticeable slowdown when zooming in with the null ray.

God damn I have looked everywhere for a PR contact email for Highmoon Studios to question about PS3 Custom Soundtracks but there are none.

Some games the sniper bullets hit the targets from far away instantly, while others lag I guess. I've been having good luck with the sniper though. Only 3-4 shots on a full health Soldier will take it out.

The demo is kinda awesome. Poor use of the unreal engine tho (standard ugly ass unreal engine lighting). Also seems like sub 720, not sure tho. Does not bode well for the PS3 version.

Really? I feel like I'm the only one that likes the visuals :lol I really like the lighting as well... The art style is really going a long way and the attention to detail is surprising. Overall I think it looks really good, especially considering that it's actually holding it's framerate without any screen tearing that I've noticed. Definitely sporting some polish.

I keep seeing posts around about it being like call of duty but I'm seriously not understanding where that's coming from. Yeah it has perks, but the pacing of the game is seriously different to me. It feels more like unreal tournament with modern accoutrements.

I also am curious on how the PS3 version is going to be, in graphics and performance.

I still have a sour taste in my mouth from RDR with the PS3 version being worse in every way.

the framerate takes a belch when you're using sniper zoom, unfortunately. can interfere with aiming.

I like the look of the game except that I really fear the environments will severely lack variety and be extremely boring throughout the entire game. cybertron isn't a good setting for a game, visually.

I too expected less from this demo, but it's a lot of fun. They put COD in Transformer. :lol

I do not understand the COD comparison. COD you are nowhere near as mobile, plus it's all about hide and seek, as if someone gets the drop on you, you get dropped in half a second. transformers really couldn't have less in common other than some of the buttons being the same.

Not really feeling it, the whole look of it is ugly, it's so obviously Unreal engine that I swear I'm playing Unreal Tournament. For being transformers franchise, it has such a generic feel to it.

The single player at least looks interesting.

He's talking about the character progression.

I guess it could be awesome in conquest if you get the drop on a point. You get the damage boost and a high point of view. Combine with a minigun or rocket launcher.

Man, I wish this game had Halo 3-esque replay abilities. Last game I was in, I had Autobot after Autobot coming after me, and my outlasting them all was legendary. I don't have a clue how I did it, so I'd love to see it again. *laughs*

Uploaded a new HD video:

I will rule the Universe, even if I'm the only one left ..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hASVo8AlrWc

For anyone who's interested .. here is a list of Killstreaks, Abilities, and Weapons that I managed to find when the first MP trailer was released by me freezing the video at the parts which give this information. It should be about 95% accurate:

KILLSTREAKS

Soldier:
3 Kills = Ammo Matrix; Refills Ammo & Grenades for Team
5 Kills = Electromagnetic Pulse; Jams enemy abilities for a time
7 Kills = Omega Missile; Guided Missile capable of mass destruction

3 Kills = Health Matrix; Teammates receive health for each kill
5 Kills = Overshield Matrix; Teammates receive Overshields
7 Kills = Nucleon Shock Cannon; Spawn a useable rocket turret

Scout:
3 Kills = Orbital Beacon (i.e. UAV); Displays enemy location
5 Kills = Energon Recharger; Health constantly regenerates for a time
7 Kills = Orbital Beacon 2.0; Causes a level-wide EMP blast and tags all enemies with marked targets

Leader:
3 Kills = Intercooler; Greatly reduces the cool-down time for abilities
5 Kills = P.O.K.E. 2.0 (???); Deadly melee attack that causes enemies to explode
7 Kills = Thermo Mine Re-Spawner; Spawn a trail of thermo mines

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Soldier:
Hover = Abilities to hover in the air and increase weapon damage
Whirlwind = Whirlwind melee attack
Ammo Beacon = Beacon that'll automatically refill teammate's ammo when they are near it
Energon Slug (?) = Disables enemy abilities for a time

Scientist:
Shockwave = Pushes enemies back and causes damage
Spawn Sentry = Spawns a sentry at a location
Drain = Syphons health from enemies
Disguise = Appear as an Ally to the enemy (SABOTEUR!!!)

Scout:
Cloaking = Becomes nearly invisible
Dash = Quick dask in a direction
Decoy Trap = Spawns a decoy pick-up that'll stun enemies when touched
Mark Target = Tags enemy with EMP pulse which weakens their armor and reveals their location

Leader:
Warcry = Area of effect, improves armor and increases damage output
Moleculon Bomb = Slows enemies when they are near it and explodes
Barrier = Deploys and Energon shield barrier
Disruption = Forces victim to change form and locks them in that form for a brief time

WEAPONS

I wasn't able to get all the weapon descriptions, just the 3 from the Soldier class were shown in the video.

Soldier:
Neutron Assault Rifle; Rapid-fire mid-range AR
Thermo Rocket Launcher
X12 Scrapmaker; Full-auto mini-gun
EMP Shotgun; Semi-auto close-combat shotgun

Scientist:
Neutron Assault Rifle; Rapid-fire mid-range AR
Photon Burst Rifle
Energon Repair Ray
EMP Shotgun; Semi-auto close-combat shotgun
Energon Grenades
Energon Club

Scout:
Plasma Cannon
Hull Ray
Energon Battle Pistol
Scatter Blaster
Energon Sword
EMP Grenades

Leader:
Ion Blaster
Energon Battle Pistol
Plasma Cannon
Energon Axe
Thermo Mine
Magma Frag Launcher

Decided to play a bit more and ended doing 19/4 on team deathmatch with soldier. So I had half of my teams kills. Ended up leveling to the max level 3 in that one match.

The minigun and the whirlwind make for some easy kills.

Im not usually good at multiplayer games but this is niice. :D

Even though the MP is really fun, I think i'll still wait on reviews. The controls are great, and the MP is something that I can see alot of people getting into, but still waiting for news on the story mode and co-op modes.

Question for everyone ..

Who is getting this for the PS3 or the 360?

PS3 is my main system as I have a lot of friends (with only like 10 on the 360) so the drop-in/drop-out Co-Op and the "Horde" mode would take advantage of my buddies but I fear this will follow RDR and the PS3 version will be noticeably "worse" than the 360 counterpart.

What do you all think?

Xbox does have the advatage with the unreal engine unfortunatly how ever I doubt there will be a huge difference.

Though Batman AA and Mirrors Edge according to Lens of Truth out did the Xbox counter parts and they used the unreal engine so I guess we'll see.

The gameplay is definitely pretty good compared to the previous games, but I can see it outstaying its welcome fairly quickly (MP). After a few matches, I was bored of Conquest/TD. It's difficult to decide based on this demo. Damn you High Moon, should've put more content.

These MP demos rarely sell me on a game.

I think I decided that I am going with the 360 version. I just don't want to get burned again with an inferior port.

Plus, I doubt the PS3 will support custom soundtracks and I am having way too much fun blasting the Transformers Score during the demo now.

The one thing I think was an oversight is the lack of a party mode. I wanted to play this with 4 other mates, but I have to invite them in on the off chance that there is a space? Doh.

Any word on what the SP will be like? It's not going to be deathmatch after deathmatch is it?

The demo disappointed me. The designs of the transformers just disappear into the chaotic texturing of the environments. I can't tell what's going on or who's who half the time.

I hope the single player turns out better...

They were pretty clearly full of crap with Arkham, though I've never played Mirror's Edge.

I ended up going with the 360 version at Gamestop for Shockwave.

PS this whole time I thought it was Soundwave, not Shockwave. Still a great choice though, but I assume Soundwave is already a default character.

I saw this too today at the mall... pretty affective marketing, I was ready 2 plunge...
but I will d-load the demo first

Sadly these characters are only available in the Escalation mode. Basically this game's Horde mode.

Hey at least there in the game, I am still pissed no Ultra Magnus. Hopefully they have a white paint job and I can just paint Optimus all white and say it is Magnus's Inner Prime Mode.

I know in MP you can change the chassis of the Leader Autobot, and then change his color scheme to all white. That might look like Ultra Magnus. Heh.

I think I'm going to make all my characters jet black. :D

Wow, great vid uploads! Just wanted to say this game wasn't on my radar until now, but consider it a lock! Never thought I'd jump aboard the Transformers franchise after Michael Bay had his way with it, but this game looks like my kind of multiplayer title.

Good to see War World's spiritual successor!

You should adjust the brightness in game then. All enemies have red names over their heads, and each Transformer type has a certain glow to it, as well as a color scheme for the lights on their body.

The Decepticons seem to have more sharp edges, but are still easily distinguished from Autobots.

There is a party mode in retail, and SP will probably be closer to Gears of War than anything. Normal enemies will most likely be generic transformers, with boss battles against well known Transformers.

Holy crap I just went 22/2. I think that's the best K/D spread I've ever had in any game :lol

I think I'm in love.

Yeah, I went 14/0 last night which was insane, but it should get better/worse as people get more use to the game and continue to play it online. Or at least I am guessing that will be what happens.

MEH.

I was looking forward to this one... initial impression of the demo didn't wow me. Level was very bland and generic looking to me. None of the action really caught my attention at being different or refreshing.

I'll give it another go just since it seems to be getting love. Maybe I missed something.
