There's a more clear release window now, too. December of this year for XBLA/PSN/PC/Mac (Linux in early 2012), according to the site.

And if you preorder it on Steam, you get to try out the beta which has already been posted in an earlier thread here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=449887 Not sure if this beta will be available on the other platforms, since I didn't see any preorder possibilities for the game.

The PC screenshots look stunning. I imagine consoles will come close minus the extra bells and 60fps.

I'd classify them as 2.5d. There is definitely more rendering of 3d assets going on there than anything 2d ala sprites.

Trine 2 will be released for PC and Mac on December 7th and the console versions on the 21st of December (XBLA worldwide and North American PSN; European PSN is TBD, hopefully we’ll have final info soon!). Linux to follow in 2012.
