This is of course a work so it doesn't matter but he's five years too late. The guy has been so obsessed with staying over and getting big pops that he's directly stifled development of younger guys just to put himself more and more over, he was a plague on the roster.

He retired and came back before all that shit a long time ago.
The point i am making is there are quite a few wrestlers who have retired and then came back. HBK anymore? He retired what? 4 times? HHH is still in phenomenal shape, he is still relatively young and can actually wrestle. It's a work. He's not retiring.

this never gets old, even better when you consider he was back on tv like two weeks later.
No way Trips goes out with as little fanfare as this, he wont truly retire until we get the HHH appreciation show, 3 hours of pure Triple H where he desperately tries to put himself on Rock/Austin tier one last time.
It's been 6 years since the last time he was heel as well, now that's miserable.

In a lot of cases it seems to either be that they are just unable to step away from the spotlight. Look at Terry Funk, dude wrestled well beyond his expiration date, seemed to be financially secure, but kept coming back. Then you have a lot of people that need the money and don't know how to do anything else. Watch The Wrestler, or if you want to see the real life version of it, watch Beyond the Mat. Not everyone made retirement money in their runs in the WWF/WCW so they just keep going to keep the lights on.

Believe you me, if NFL, MLB, and NBA players could be booked to win no matter how far over the hill they were they'd never retire either.
