Triple H retires

Is there any particular reason why so many wrestlers wrestle for so long? Undertaker has been doing it for at least two decades in just the WWF/E. Can't be good for your body.

YOU try applying for another well paying job with nothing but "bodyslammed people every night" on your resume.

In general, they don't have other skills. Being able to take a suplex doesn't really translate to most white collar jobs.

They can also be messed up physically and mentally due to the toll of wrestling, traveling, and drug use.

I think an adoring crowd can be a drug.

Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair got in messy divorces.

Some wrestlers start to manage the company, and you're inevitably drawn in by the writers as an easy storyline. I am betting on HHH will try to be the new Mr. McMahon (and fail miserably) because Vince sure as hell isn't traveling with the show anymore.

Vince is backstage at every single RAW and PPV.

Yes he is. At least every Raw, not sure about house shows.

Or that other show, what was it called?

They've been wrestling for so long that they don't know how to do anything else, and they can't imagine living a life that doesn't involve wrestling in some capacity.

They endure the pain because the thrill of performing in front of others basically becomes an addiction for them, whether they're wrestling for the WWE or for a small Indy.

That and they need to pay bills, which is hard to do when there's not a "support base" for retired pro wrestlers like there are in other sports.

Retired football players can become commentators, journalists or TV personalities. Retired boxers/MMA fighters can become trainers, open their own gyms, etc. Retired pro wrestlers have no "support base" like that after they're done. Combine this with the debt, drug abuse, broken bodies and other wonders of the wrestling lifestyle and it's a roadmap to having 120 retirement matches.

Can't count Flair, that guy has gone through three wives already and is now divorcing his 4th. He literally has to work for food now.

Everyone needs to read this regarding Ric Flair's money: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6891795/the-wrestler-real-life

That match with HHH and Brock was so bad. At least in MMA you have an excuse for boring fights due to style matchups and all, but there's no excuse when it's scripted beforehand. I'm glad he's retiring.
