True Blood Season 5 |OT| - Everything Is At Stake

Finished it off tonight. The season was not terrible (minus the effects when Eric and his sister were killing vamps..not enough lulz for her throwing of stakes) but I was mostly underwhelmed. I really hated the overarching storyline frankly -- the show is missing that wish fulfillment it had early on.

The ending was interesting -- I'll be curious to see where they go from here. Shame about Bill though. I will say that the actress who played Salome probably had about the best body in TV history..jeez louise.

God this show is awful. I thought it was gonna be good this season after getting worse and worse every season after the first, but nope. It's shit. At least this season wasn't as bad as season 4, which isn't really saying much. I think when Lafayette turned into a Kabuki Warrior is when the show really jumped the shark for me. I'm still probably gonna watch next season, so whatever.

It had a cool premise but holy crap the show has gone downhill since the first episodes. It's just become a joke how bad it is really.

I did this same fucking thing last year. I watch every episode and then don't finish the finale. I've tried watching it once already and turned it off halfway through. Maybe I'll continue it tonight.

I know this is kind of random, but tomorrow I'm finally going to get my HBO Go account set up and I'm going to start this show at the beginning and work my way to this season. Never watched any of this show before, but all I hear about it is great so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Anything I need to know before going in? No spoilers, if you can help it, please :)

Can't wait to get it started!

Well, sure enough, after this post I started that next day and watched episode one. And, IIRC, episodes two, three, four, five, and six that night.

Just under three weeks later, and I just finished the Season 5 finale. I haven't marathon'd a show like that, well, ever. Very fun, enjoyable show. I had to fight myself not to go on wikipedia and just read what was going to happen, so many times, but I made it through alright with only a little bit of the plot being spoiled.

...And I just saw the bonus scene after the credits. Don't tell me every episode has one of those?

I just finished season 5 a few days ago and the one thing that pissed me off the most was jason. At the start of the season and throughout we saw some character development with jessica and hoyt. Him trying to be a good cop...idk I grew to actually like his character. But nope now he hates vamps again and can murder them all singlehandedly.

Yeah, that annoyed me too. There's no reason to revisit Season 2 vampire-hatin' Jason.

Told my friend either Billith has to die next season, or Lafayete comes with his bruha magic and separates Bill from Lillith. Either way, I didn't like the multiple story route they went with this season, it made the vampire compound stuff drag on longer than it should have (and by next season, well still be in the compound).

I hope they drop it next season. And a part of me wants it all to end next season before it gets even more out of control with ware-tigers or whatever.

Oh yeah, I heard the other day that, due to Anna Paquin's pregnancy, season 6 will only consist of 10 (instead of the usual 12) episodes. Hopefully that means a leaner, meaner season, and less time dedicated to side characters.

Nooo :( Can't they just film bits without her? I mean, when I think about it she didn't have all that much screen time last season.

one thing about true blood is....give it 4 episodes and 2 of them will be filler.

give it 10 and 5 will be filler. no escaping this.

The fact that you only care about three characters on the show doesn't mean everyone else feels the same way.

I like all the characters on the show, but some of the characters arcs are not going anyplace. True Blood is the Bleach of tv, they are scared to kill anyone off, even if it would help the story or remove them from the show because their character can no longer grow.

I like Tara, fine character, but shes not going anyplace anymore. Killing her off would have been the wake up call sooki needed. Instead they shoehorn her into a vampire and we all suffer for it.

No one suffered, a great deal of people enjoyed the new development. You perhaps suffered because you wanted her gone.

There's really no other way of making sense of the were-panther arch though :p

Heh, it was a ridiculous arch, but what isn't in TB? The whole point of that storyline was to create the initial bond between Jessica and Jason - once that happened, in typical TB fashion they eliminated the unnecessary characters.

True Blood Adds Arliss Howard as Series Regular

Arliss Howard (Rubicon, Medium) is joining the HBO drama’s forthcoming sixth season in the series regular role of
Louisiana Governor Creighton Burrell.

The character is described as a good ol’ boy politician who has a major beef with vampires ever since his wife ran off with one, leaving him as a single father to their only daughter. Politically savvy and perhaps overly ambitious, Creighton tends to let his personal aspirations overshadow his humanity.

Never watched this show but remember seeing some pics of Woll and/or Wood. They look very similar browsing their google images. Anyhow I was at the bar tonight and some young lady looked like one of them(or both as I think they look similar) but the names of the actress(es) and TV show eluded my brain. The girl caught me looking at her like 10 different times. I wasn't staring but she was pretty much in my line of sight so if my eyes weren't on the TV they were on her. She was pretty damn cute as you can imagine. I caught her staring at me a few times as well so I didn't feel too bad. She had a boyfriend it looked like though so I didn't say anything but as she left, as she walked by me, I wanted to say who the hell she reminded me of but didn't know the actresses' names.

You should have said "Hey!"

Ok, I watched the whole of season 5 over the course of a few days and I really liked it.
A few quick questions...

1. Did anyone think the new vamp sherrif (Elijah) would have been worth keeping around? He seemed to have a good combination of menace and personality IMO.

2. Did anyone else get um... emotional when Jason got back in his cop car and started crying after speaking to Hoyt, who had been glamored to forget him? I thought that was really sad.

3. Anyone else think Bills maker, Lorena, has been the "scariest" vamp through all the TB series? She always creeped me the fuck out.
Seeing her again in Pams flashback... yikes.
My favorite scene from the whole series was probably when Godric stopped her from killing Sookie at his house. He was a little badass.
