Tumbledrop iPhone out Friday

This is my go-to game for toilet-time entertainment :lol

Please excuse me if I don't use that in the App Store description! XD;

Also, I have no idea how I'm going to afford to go to San Francisco! o_o
Checking the prices of flights and hotels, it's not looking very promising.

Can you get a sponsorship of some kind?

I'm not sure, I'm looking into my options but I don't think there's much in the way of sponsorship available here. I might end up asking for donations, and I'd put thanks to the people in the later versions of Tumbledrop.

I absolutely *adore* this game. I'll be posting an App Store review of it shortly, which is a first for me. The graphics are wonderful (it's hard to get the whole cute, happy thing right - many try and fail - but not this game)... I love the presentation and how seamless, tactile, and inviting it is. The dual medal idea is great, the gameplay is perfect for a mobile phone, really quick pick up and play without worrying about any time constraints whatsoever (even canabalt is tough for me as an iphone game because the better you are the longer each session lasts). The only thing I want to see is a level builder (and online sharing of user levels)... but I have a feeling that it won't be out until the sequel hits so the dev can get some extra money from dlc (after the free dlc is out).

Thanks for the support everyone. It's a shame that my OS 2.2.1 version hasn't shown up yet, it's been with apple since the same day that I sent the Tumbledrop demo, so a lot of people with iPod touch are missing out.

Still looking into options for getting to San Francisco. o_o;

I'll gladly donate if thats the way you have to do it. It's a great opportunity for you.

Just tried the game after downloading it a few days back, got up to level 42 after playing it just one time! Great work, addicting stuff!

I'm asking for donations in order to help me raise money for the trip to GDC/IGF in San Francisco, and I'm going to give credit to donations of $10 or more in the next update for the iPhone game.

I've also lowered the price of Tumbledrop to 50% until I can afford the trip. Please help if you can! :) I don't think the discount is showing up in the UK store yet though - is it in the US store?

Cheers!

I really hope I can make enough to attend the event, because it'll be my first time attending GDC, despite being in development for seven years!

I don't know why the 2.2.1 update is taking so long to be reviewed. Apologies iPod touch owners!

hey yo -- typo in the map for the beginner levels. levels 10, 12, 14, 15 show false amounts to receive heart medals. havent made it to past 16 yet so idk about any typos after that. =]

Ah, sorry about that! There's a bug where all the levels with 10+ have their first digit removed in the map screen. I'll try to fix that with the next fix, I've mostly been tackling bugs with it not working on some machines.

I still have some way to go until I can afford to go to SF, but I think I'll probably take the game off sale soon. Get it cheap while you can! :)

i wanted to say that my girlfriend bought this game earlier this week and she played it so much that she forgot to go to her afternoon class. :lol

Haha, that's fantastic! XD It makes it all worthwhile to me, thanks for sharing that! XD

Added my review after a few hours of play, to make things honest despite liking the game from go.

On top of that, since you so graciously gave me a code, I paid for a friend to buy it. :D

I made the mistake of showing this game to my friend's 3 year old daughter. She was completely charmed by it. Even when she was eating her lunch, she kept glancing to the iphone to play again. So I think a few easy levels in the next update wouldn't be a bad thing.

I don't check gaming side enough! Didn't even know tumbledrop came out. Just bought it to help you out mang. I think it would really add to the charm if you added voices to the shapes. Like high-pitched pikmin voices when the pieces fall into the water.

Is there a way I can donate to you through the app store or itunes? I've got an itunes gift card from christmas sitting here and I'd gladly donate some of it for your trip.

Superbank, thanks for the offer but there aren't any options of donating via itunes/app store. If you have paypal though I would appreciate a donation on my blog: http://starfruitgames.com/blog

I'm ending the sale in a couple of hours, hurry Gaffers! :)

Aaron, I love that very young children enjoy the game. I can't really add more easy levels to the iPhone one, but I'm thinking about having more easy levels in the PC/Mac version of the game I'm working on.

Are you going to make a ipad version of it?

Edit: ah whatever 79 Cent … i just bought it :D Love suporting gaf game developers :)

Yeah, I think so, but it'll probably a separate version than the iphone one.

oh you are not going to update it? Why? I dont think most peoble would like to buy it twice

I'll update it as much as I can, but it would be nice to make an iPad specific version too. It depends on how simple it is, but in all likelihood it'll be tricky to make the game high resolution for the iPad without making the iPod one huge too!

I'm also planning 'Tumbledrop Deluxe' for PC and Mac (with different levels) and that version would be an obvious contender for iPad with the larger screen (for more complex levels) and higher resolution.

It will be a while until I find out what I can do though, because I'm relying on middleware, so I can't work on the iPad version until after the hardware shows up.

How do you get the heart in level 37. Its the only thing i have left to do in the game

You have to wait for the thing to settle before you pop 2.
Before you pop 3, make sure that 5 and 6 are sorta over the middle of the level. Otherwise, they'll fall into water too fast.

Edit: You might have to switch 5 and 6, depending on which one is going to fall into the water first.

I bought this game, and I love it Dock! My one compliant, and it is not towards you by any means, is that my iPhone EDGE is showing its age. :lol Great job on the game.

This reminds me of kawaiinot.com, so I will probably end up buying this.

If you turn around and tell me you are somehow behind kawaiinot.com, I will probably buy this today.

Proven, sorry, I'm nothing to do with Kawaiinot! XD

Oh, are you running it on an iPhone 1G? I'm impressed that it runs at all XD I'm glad you're enjoying it!

I used to work doing artwork for games like LostWinds and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2+3

I've heard great things about your game on Player one podcast, but this alone will get me to buy this game on my gf's iphone. Nice work man, I loved that fucking game so much!

Just purchased! Fun, simple yet challenging game you made. I really enjoy the art style you have for it. Congrats! I'll try to spread the word around.

I'm in the same boat as HUELEN10, got the iPhone 1st Gen, a little bit on the slower side, but its not like the game needs the performance in order to enjoy it.

The original iPhone is the same as the iPhone 3G, processor wise. Might run poorly on my 3G too...

Oh, then the game should run okay! I was under the impression that the iPhone 1G had a much weaker CPU than the iPhone 3G!

After seeing this thread keeping coming back to the first page, I read the comments and decided to buy this game ! I just tried for a few minutes but it is great so far :D
I'm gonna start taking some very long breaks in the restrooms at work so I can play!

I'm all for a dedicated version and please, do add levels for children. My little girl loves playing on my iPod Touch and Tumbledrop looks like it could be fun even for younger people.
