TUPBftU #2 - Galactus vs Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=437345

Timedog, is Dark Schneider being included in this contest?

Gurren Lagann +1

It basically was designed to win contests like these. It is spelled out in the show that saying Gurren Lagann can't win actually guarantees it wins. Gurren Lagann is actually more likely to win NOW then at the beginning of the thread since some posters were foolish enough to claim it can't win. Can't you see, you've sealed your own fate!

Its not even about who can do what. The entire point of TTGL is that it wins in the end.
editor's note: this is the entire point of almost ALL HEROES.

id argue that simon already defeated his creator. id wager that from how the story started out the writer was going to go for a finale more grounded and believable than what we eventually got, perhaps with something short of an all encompassing victory, but the writer got caught up in the drive and passion of his own creation and the character of simon became so real to him that he had no other choice but to end gurren lagann the way he did.

in that sense i feel like simon even defeated his creator

I'll use the God term just because it suits.

One believes in God because the self is critic.
The idea of imperfection, as subconscious as it is, is an obstacle.
If there is the notion of perfection outside of the self yet and as flawed you are, you are part of it, you may solve your obstacles.
You thank God for thriving, but it's a reflection.

All that considered, when he says "believe in me who believes in you", that's what he is doing.
editor's note: What does any of this mean? Reading this actually made me insane.

Riposte said:
Timedog, you really are the worst poster ever. You are like the Uwe Boll of NeoGAF.

However, if TTGL fans give as retarded of arguments in the Semi-Finals vs Goku, I'm gonna retcon the fuck out of the rules, mkay?

Darth Vader +1

This one is easy. Darth Vader could just force choke the asshole to death. Even barring that, force-heightened awareness and a weapon that can cut through literally anything?

Yeah.

these are the threads legends are made of.

+1 kenshiro. he will never stop, never back down. he will chase you forever, walking very slowly. his sheer determination can shrug off lame tricks like being choked at a distance or being targeted with objects. when he'll finally close in with darth vader, even if it can take one or two seasons, he'll clearly be flat out the strongest, the fastest and the deadliest. darth vader is just a stupid half robot anyway.

kenshiro +1

hokuto shinken is incredibly powerful. if he can indure force lightning (wait, does vader even have force lightning?) and close the gap between the two of them, he can claim victory

+1 Vader, but only if he gets to higher ground.

Vader can use force lightning, but it fries his robot parts and puts him near death.

Kenshiro +1 with enough Ki energy he can probably resist vader's force choke, he's a walking tank really.

The Hokuto Shin Ken's technique allows their practitioners (Kenshiro, Toki, Raoh and Jagi) the ability to develop the fighting spirit (KI aura) using 100% of all the potential physical, mental and sensorial from the human body. The features that stand out are: increasing the physical strength to superhuman levels; high degree of resistance to physical damage or injuries (allows the muscles and bones to harden more than the same steel); tremendous coordination, balance, agility, reflexes and intelligence that far exceed the human peak; superhuman speed and durability; and projections of energy attacks which can be used to pressure the vital points.

he probably can't resist the light saber though but he'll just disarm vader easily.

edit: this is the most epic match i've ever seen, shit gets bat shit insane after 2nd round.

kenshiro +1

after use of the lightsaber proves ineffective against the superior speed of hokuto shin ken the bulk of the fight will consist of vader force-slamming/choking/flinging kenshiro about until he's rendered effectively dead. the last 30 seconds will consist of kenshiro unleashing some heretofore completely unknown technique that has not been previously seen nor will be repeated again. this technique will have some impossibly long name like "hokuto northern power flux - god fist reversal" and will reverse/nullify vader's control over kenshiro allowing him to omae wa mou shindeiru.

end scene.

Weaknesses:
-Latent feelings for his son
That sounds so wrong.

+1 Kenshiro

I'm sorry but Darth Vader just isn't that strong. He might have been a great jedi and a good sword fighter, but the best Star Wars has to offer doesn't even compare to some of the weaker to mid range animu.

Using the force to pull down a star destroyer is well within wacky anime territory. But that was in a video game, I don't know how silly the star wars extended universe gets.

But I am staying out of this argument because not watching/reading Hokuto no Ken is one of my many failings.

You can watch the Fist of the North Star movie before this thread runs it's course. That's pretty much all you need. Plus it's better than the series, IMO.

I don't think Vader'd win. He is hit basically twice in episodes IV-VI and the first time almost kills him with the second time actually killing him. His entire tactic is making people run and catching attacks with slow protective bullshit.

In the movies Vader doesn't do shit. He just bosses people around and all the heavy lifting is done by legions of storm troopers, other imperials and bounty hunters. He only gets involved directly when it's other jedi or force sensitives, namely Luke and Obi-Wan.

Gotta go with the Dark Lord of the Sith on this one. Darth Vader +1

Vader is more machine now than man. It won't be so easy to hit his weak points since his physiology is altered.

Oooooh, I think this is the best match-up yet. Goku vs Batman seemed too one-sided, despite my arguments for Bats, and TTGL vs Galactus was just kinda dumb. This fight is much more fun to discuss.

Er, given a lot of Vader is robotic, Kenshiro's Hokuto Shinken wouldn't be as effective as normal, but the dude is still an awesome martial artist. Still, I'll probably say Vader, what with the Force and all.

+1 Darth Vader.

I want the next fight to be Indiana Jones vs Nathan Drake.

This is the sort of thread Mama Robotnik usually makes. Came in fully expecting to get into the hypothetical clash of two universe. Vader +1.

Don't you mean Vader +1?

What is this GameFAQs shit clogging up OT? You can't keep this to one thread?

Vader +1

Kenshiro + 1.

Even if we included some of the crazier feats Force users can pull in the Expanded Universe (Starkiller ripping Star Destroyers out of the sky, Mace Windu fighting an army of battle droids unarmed and punching/running faster than the eye can see, Darth Sion's immortality, etc, etc), Vader's robotic parts did him more harm than good. No real mobility, can't use force lightning, and gets winded pretty easily. Vader can go for the force choke, but Kenshiro can close the distance and use one of his body-exploding techniques on Vader pretty quickly.

Yet again, actually kind of one sided, as there are definitely other force users that could give Kenshiro a run for his money (and Vader isn't one of them, movie-wise or Expanded Universe-wise).

+1 Kenshiro
Muso Tensei/Transmigration of Souls and Tensho Honretsu/large energy blast
since he is strong with the light side of the "force" (its HnK equivilent) and Lord Vader is not 100% evil so Kenshiro would not put that much of a fight. I would expect a sympathetic fight if Kenshiro knows the true identity of Vader, and then a final showdown with Darth Sidious/Emperor Papaltine.

Kenshiro = (Yoda Force powers + General Kenobi's battle readiness)^Luke Skywalker's innoscense.

That and a whole lot of manly tears after vader tells his tragic backstory.

Vader begins looking for Kenshiro, and he eventually becomes impatient and reckless in his search, believing his opponent has fled in terror like so many in the past.

Then, all of a sudden...

No one, especially Vader, expects the haystack.

Kenshiro +1

Kenshiro+1
because Muso Tensei, the ultimate technique of Hokuto Shinken, is all sorts of broken. It makes him so fast that he would be considered to be intangible to physical attacks, invisible/undetectable to his opponents, and allows teleportation-like movement.

Kenshiro is also a bizarro-hulk who is powered by sadness instead of anger. Fighting Darth Vader would make Kenshiro really really sad. Kenshiro would cry buckets of tears as he destroys Vader.

This is another no contest like Goku vs Batman. Kenshiro is cool and all and as much as I'd like for him to win he'd get destroyed before getting anywhere near effective range to use Hokuto Shin Ken.

+1 Vader

Kenshiro +1.

Recall that he not only has Hokuto Shinken techniques, but those he learned from his friends and enemies. His arsenal is fairly huge.
