This should be the only emoticon in Twitch:

noone even uses PogChamp anymore these days.
everyone has BTTV installed and usually uses the more popular variants of it like Pog, PogU, PauseChamp etc.

Twitch should not be allowed to make their own rules if they are living under the umbrella of Section 230. They should strictly only moderate clearly illegal stuff. Simple as that.

This sounds like something a person that believes in and likes Dictators would say. What would be "clearly" illegal? People get banned on GAF all the time for stuff that's not illegal in any state lol.

I am 36, when I view some league of legends twitch streams I have to google all the shit young people say. Like why is KEKW the new lol. Fucking kids.
Those KEKWs and LULWs and OMEGALULs ánd many, many more are actual emotes, not just text. You can see them by installing the BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ extensions

Man fuck Twitch. The wrong streaming site died. Twitch is always up to some repugnant shit. Will never support the platform.

Cant even pretend to dislike goose because of this. He and I may disagree but he seems like a chill dude overall. Remember when people could disagree politically and weren't treated as lepers?

There have never been any good ones. Justin.tv was garbage. Youtube and microsoft's streaming is/was a joke.

He encouraged the violent overthrow of the government as a protest against fairly elected leaders. Good riddance.
And he was too much of a "cuck," as the vernacularly limited of the internet like to say ad nauseum, to follow through on his words and be there in the flesh. These morans finally backed up their words but were violently and justifiably rebuked and now they want to cry about one of their own getting GTA WASTED and others getting stomped on by the cops? Oh...these tears taste so fucking sweet and delicious. I wish to bathe in them.

Crying about an emoticon is some real first world problem shit.

This is the RIGHT thing to do, try and strafe around all the hard issues and topics to work around your cancerous base instead of actually banning said base, because that shitty base is what keeps the lights on.

So you don't think a company should be able to moderate it's own platform?

For a company that preaches "inclusiveness and acceptance", sure. But when it's so blatantly one sided, they don't get my support. It akin to burning books because you don't agree with their point of view.

I'd rather Twitch let the content creators and their mods decide what's acceptable for their channel. This gestapo style BS of deciding what goes on it for everyone is what gripes the shit out of me. As a consumer I can decide if it's for me or not.

So you're cool with them banning speach, but not cool with me not deciding to watch them anymore. Talk about hypocrisy at its finest!

Supposedly, they will be replacing it with something new.

I wonder if they will make it an "inclusive" one. Don't be too shocked if it becomes a fat black female of heaviness of color.

That's weird. Why would the "creators" of the site\app allow others to moderate something they created? As a consumer you don't ever get to decide who a corporate works with or allows? It's always been this way. You don't get to decide where the bathroom is in a restaurant, you don't get to decide what brands a Supermarket sells on their shelf, you don't get to decide who the marketing front man is for NIKE, you don't get to decide who the main PR person is for the Xbox brand.

So why would you get to decide which emoticons an app has? I'm 100% cool with them banning things they don't want on their site\app. YES! And if you don't want to use Twitch anymore great. Why would I care? I don't own Amazon stock, nor do I use Twitch lol.

Yea, that's all fine and good. But then turnaround and try to claim that your platform is all about inclusiveness when you decide to ban thought, words, etc with different points of view. Like I said, hypocricy!

I miss the days of early twitch before the site had a major UI change and it ruined it for me. 2011- 2013 twitch are fond memories. The site is a shadow of what it used to be to me. I miss when ads weren't nearly as bad, nowadays it's ridiculous and I just stopped using it.

Wow, so apparently they're removing all gootecks related emotes from FrankerFaceZ too. I wonder if they'll do the same with BTTV now. Lmao.

I mean, yeah, what gootecks said was odd. The dude has been off of his rocker for awhile IMO. But I wasn't expecting this severe of a reaction.

Asking if people will react to a woman being killed by the police the same way they did to people like Floyd "encouraged the violent overthrow of the government"?

BTTV creator came out saying it's staying and that they believe in the option of choice. People want to use it, go ahead, they don't, then don't. Considering the other "controversial" emotes they have, I respect that decision immensely.

Gooey took the long road, but he finally got what he wanted for years: To get rid of the emote so he could be separated from it and known for other shit.

Well played Ryan. Well played...

Way overboard on Twitch's part. Pogchamp is an institution. Gootecks sounds misguided in those tweets but it's an intense situation and many are wrapped up in their own side's partisan narrative. Cancel culture strikes again.
If he said the same thing about Burn Loot Murder, he'd be hailed as a social media hero.

So Twitch has righteously announced that they will no longer use the face of a guy who I assume never gave them consent in the first place?
