Twitch reveals most watched games for May 2014.

Damn at Starcraft...behind WoW and Minecraft and CS... sweet jesus =\

What the hell happened? I mean I also stopped watching it but I'm not really sure why.

"It's Magic: The Gathering Online i assume."

No, it's actual physical Magic: The Gathering. Seriously, gets a ton of viewers on their weekend tournaments. They have some really professional production values.

Looks like people haven't seen it.

The whole idea that you gotta be in the top 20 to be a well populated online game is only partly true. You go on Twitch on any given night and you'll see people playing like Chess for windows 3.1. Like multiple people.

I watch Trump play Hearthstone every night during dinner :3

Wish that mobas could die off, I'm afraid that they will kill of SC completely :/

They aren't going anywhere. At this point I actually fear Dota and LoL may be so established its going to be really hard for another game to break into the scene.

i really don't get it

the only thing more boring than playing mobas is watching other people play mobas...

also a shame hearthstone is so much higher than MTG. h-stone is baby town frolics compared to mtg.

Not a single fighting game.

also ridiculous... fighting games are like the most interesting games to watch

It's almost like the people invested in games find them interesting to watch.
Wasn't it Counter-Strike's 15th anniversary this week? I bet the nostalgia gave it a boost.
Probably nothing to do with it. CSGO has been doing really well the last few months and growing quickly.

i tried watching a Hearthstone stream once, but if there's anything that drives me more crazy than waiting for my opponent's turn it's watching someone wait for their opponent's turn.

i get the fascination, i just don't get how it's that popular.

then again - free to play games seem to have huge user bases due to no "entry fee", which translates into huge viewerships, apparently.

irony is only way u can get a key is if your a twitch/youtube personality, yet its not in top20.
seems like that policy is working well
You're confusing it with Heroes of the Storm. You just need to apply on their website to get a Dawngate key. I got one only a few days after.

Nope. It's been getting some serious tournament action lately. Not surprised it's surpassed Starcraft.

People surprised over Starcraft 2? Really?

Surprised Wildstar is so low.

It's Magic: The Gathering Online i assume.

No they actually stream real world card tournaments. Its more boring than Golf.

Not a single fighting game on that list.

Fighting game streams just aren't as consistent as DotA2/LoL. With those two you always have a tournament OR some popular personality play solo ladder matches.

With fighting games you get sporadic tournaments or WNF or Evo. If there was an equivalent of Dyrus or WingsofDeath or Purge etc for Fighting Games playing solo queue all day then maybe fighting games would be higher.

Why do people watch Minecraft?

I don't get it either, and I like Minecraft a lot. It's just not a fun game to watch someone else play.

Yet there is one guy who streams it who always seems to have 5-10k people watching. I've tried watching him a couple times and it is so slow and boring.

Not surprised League and DOTA are 1-2. Riot streams their various LCS matches on a constant basis, and it seems like there are always DOTA tourneys going on.

As for Minecraft, it has to do more with who is streaming it (high-subbed LPers and streamers) than any one thing going on in the game right now.

I feel like there was a bit there where fighting games really did have an opportunity to break through past its' traditional base but a lot of bad decisions were made along the way that prevented it from happening.

Or maybe it didn't matter and MOBA's were going to steamroll everything no matter what.....

Who plays fighting games in 2014 lol

sorry, i haven't kept up with what's "in" for gamers these days

too busy getting invited to / having fun at parties ;)

It's almost like the people invested in games find them interesting to watch.

i just don't get what it is in MOBAS that is worth getting invested in. i tried a bunch of lol and it just wasn't compelling to me. RTS games i don't enjoy, but i "get" why people like them at high levels. MOBAS... not so much.

I never understood why people like casually shitting on fighting games.

it's hilarious, i think it's viewed as a "dudebro" genre by a lot of these kids? i don't know

GO will also have another major tourney at Gamescom. Might get a boost again.

Also, have Blizzard shared their plans for the WCS regional finals yet? Surely they won't put them on the same weekend as TI again.

I'm surprised WoW is that high.

To be fair to TitanFall, there is absolutely no hook in the game for interest in watching for competitive gaming. It is not fun watching 12 dudes randomly running around the map doing their own thing.

LoL will always be the more popular game, but I think it is only a matter of time before Dota 2 supplants it in the competitive scene. Dota matches are way more fun to watch because there are more interesting combinations of characters.
