This chat stuff isn't built into Google home right? They say too many weird spontaneous things that it doesn't sound like google now/assistant/whatever its called now. They also seem to respond to their own 'voice' sometimes (like saying "I don't understand ...." about something they just said themselves).

It's not really; at first I thought it was Google's own Home AI talking to itself, but it won't do that unless you prompt it first and it tends not to have conversations, just list out facts.

This is basically a future version of cleverbots talking to each other. This sort of trick was done in the past, but it's much more advanced nowadays and with voices it's a lot funnier. Every time you see the bot ask a question randomly, it's just the bot trying to change the subject because it wasn't able to answer the query. It's like a failsafe.
