It hasn't entirely been explained, so can someone go into what's the actual goings on here? We have iterations of cleverbot, I know, but what makes this different? Is it pinging google's AI stuffs for responses? I feel stupid for not understanding this, sorry.

It literally is Cleverbot. The two bots have a command that hooks them up to cleverbot and they start using it to converse. You can see it happen when they crash. "Hey google let's hear the bots talk" is one for starting the girl and "Hey google correct horse battery staple" starts up vlad.

Oh my. Because of a bug in the timing of their replies at the start of a cycle they both timed out on one another and died simultaneously.
The chat makes this such a great watch. Potentially the only time in a year+ where I'm glad twitch has a chat bar. If someone could fix these two with their lousy conversation starters we'd cover a lot more ground. One assumes they go toward the bot vs human thing often because the bots have been asked that a bazillion times over the years when people start to interact with them. It may well be the thing they're asked more than anything else.

I'm enjoying this far too much. Though I know this specific tech isn't new or elaborate, the google home format gives it a perfect framing.

Reminds me of that old journal a Something Awful member found while cleaning a school or some such. All I remember about it is that it belonged to some girl whose boyfriend played Mortal Kombat and the two "did it in the booty".
