Ubisoft claims it has endured "a 93%-95% piracy rate" on PC

No, retail is still incredibly strong in Poland and Germany.

jep, steam is good for NA and other markets with a weak PC retail situation because you can play all games despite that.

Nothern and central Europe still have a strong PC retail market though.

They talk as if everyone who pirates their games, would pay if he had no other way around...

Sto being a drama queen, remove the retarded drms, lower the damn prices and there you have it: Titles that sell well on the PC.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! For a moment there I thought you suggested the gaming media actually does a bit of journalism for once.

Especially concerning piracy. It´s mind numbing at times when sites start reporting that piracy is hurting the industry because the game came out on the interweb a week before the official release... but at the same time omit that the version that is leaked is 99% of the time the console version and not the pc version.

So PC users are blamed either way. The gaming press is more like a giant PR racket than anything else.

The real kicker is the bald statement that F2P generates more ARPU than a heavily DRM'd standard retail model.

Think about it. F2P = people pay more.

Is this the point where I point out that Ubisoft keeps bragging about how their always-online DRM lowers piracy rates, but are suspiciously silent about whether or not it actually increases sales?

Because I think this is that point.

Oh for f's sakes that's such shit. Your time doesn't mean jack to anyone. The only thing your time means is that the more time you spend in a game the more likely you are to be converted to a paying customer. Time more valuable. God damn that's funny.
He's actually right. A game without a userbase isn't worth playing

Pahaha, 93-95%, and F2P is magically going to make them more money...
It's not magical - but that's exactly what F2P did in Asia 10 years ago(turn 95+% piracy into one of the biggest game-markets in the world). It's also dominating all mobile stores by now in terms of revenue.

Retail is fucking garbage here, unbelievably overpriced. I don't know why anyone with internet access would keep shopping at retail here. Probably people who just don't know any better. Poor fools.

edit: oh you mean compared to DD only, not brick and mortar stores. Disregard. >_>
