Well at least they work
There's no way Microsoft or Sony is going to put thousands of hours into titles to explore every corner and make sure everything works completely identically. I won't be surprised if either console has weird quirky issues in some titles. Too much time spent trying to get PC games to work because I play on a laptop a lot of the time for me to have faith that any platform will just work trying to run source code which was not targetted at it.
Guess I'll found out in a couple weeks, assuming that my preorders for the Series X and PS5 aren't delayed.
We don't know if that's the case for Xbox one games on the Xbox series consoles.
Everything I've read sounds like they just work and don't need a new download like the 360 and OG Xbox games do.
One games get installed directly from the disc.
but game preservation on both will be a shitshow since when have we had a bug AAA game or even smaller game that is well optimised by simply playing the version that comes on the disc?
that almost never happens. you usually need at least the day 1 patch to have a something finished game.
so installing from a disc without server connection to get the latest patch will be an issue regardless of the fact that it installs directly from the disc or not.
It's almost like the peeps in this thread won't still have a PS4/Pro accessible to them.
Going by your post history, I suppose you really care.PS5 BC is a disappointing mess.

I probably won't because I don't turn on old consoles and always focus on play new games. It's almost like the peeps in this thread won't still have a PS4/Pro accessible to them.
Why do you guys think the store listing would be more up to date than Ubisofts info?
Sony likely booted games to quickly test them.. sets them by default to this "bootable but could have errors" state.
Then third parties would be the ones to do more full testing; and would likely let Sony know if a game should be marked as fully incompatible. Ubisoft released this blog post today indicating Syndicate is incompatible.
Expect Sony to update their store listing in the near future, but they would not know before Ubisoft.
Sony's "99%" comment comes from their bootability testing. Expect that to go down, not up, over time.
To play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software. Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent. See PlayStation.com/bc for more details.
When playing on PS5, this game may exhibit errors or unexpected behaviour
I'm trading in my Pro.It's almost like the peeps in this thread won't still have a PS4/Pro accessible to them.
Doom Ethernal is COMPATIBLE... I checked... that is why it shows the COMPATIBLE message. It does appear to have different wording compared to the other titles. Here's what it says about Doom Eternal.
Notice it excludes:
That's just the generic "compatible" message (meaning it's been tested more than just past booting) vs. the "bootable" message (likely only testing done by Sony was booting it, probably launching the game itself.)It does appear to have different wording compared to the other titles. Here's what it says about Doom Eternal.

Garbage games.....only Syndice is regular but still not a must.
And away we go with the fuckery.sony really does have their fans wrapped around their fingers, can flat out lie about backwards compatibility and somehow has got them believing the ps5 has features of a gpu that's two years away from being released.
First post has probably incomplete list of games marked by sony as "bootable" instead of "compatible". I hope it means they have some graphical glitches during game play and not freeze in menu.Interesting.
My theory is Sony only listed games that can't even boot.
Ubisoft are perhaps listing games that can boot, but just don't work past that.
This might be a deeper problem than expected.
Perhaps there are more games from other developers that don't get past boot, but PS mark as BC just because they can boot? Hmm.
At least they tried? I mean the whole saves not going between gens is a bigger blow than this tbh.
"We believe in generations"
Seriously maybe these are just outliners.
These games don't run properly despite Sony saying they would, that's fuckery alright. And away we go with the fuckery.
It may just be the 'live service' components that aren't working, this is likely mountains out of mole hills. These games don't run properly despite Sony saying they would, that's fuckery alright.
500000 thousand hours into testing is not "thousands of hours into titles" in the way I meant it (thousands of hours each title), although I apologize in not making my words more clear.Jason just said on the Xbox podcast they have put 500,000 hours into testing![]()
Ubisoft, CD Red, etc... The communication is horrible! Not to mention all the resolution wordplay from Ubisoft this week! It's embarrassing!wtf is going on at Ubisoft? I doubt whoever wrote that post just randomly added a fake list of unsupported games... maybe they will word it differently? like maybe they will change it to "These games might exhibit gamebreaking errors" or something like that?
these companies and their messaging is so fucked up, they should know how stuff they put out will come across and should check if they are actually accurately describing the situation.
They seem to have done the same to you. You post in more Sony threads than Sony fans.sony really does have their fans wrapped around their fingers, can flat out lie about backwards compatibility and somehow has got them believing the ps5 has features of a gpu that's two years away from being released.
